I just finished a dreadnought and what fun to hear these great guitars next to mine. They both are wonderful woodie loud guitars that you bring to us.

Just the video I’ve been asking for! Directly related to one of my forum questions. Thanks!

@@Bryankimsey The 1948 hits the spot for me. I wouldn't mind having either. Good video. Gonna watch the follow up here in a bit.

When it comes to the ‘48 having just a big jumble of notes swirling around inside, I’m going on a hunch that the depth of the body at the neck block is 4 7/8” or even 4 15/16” deep. I prefer a dreadnaught’s body depth at the neck heel to be 4 3/4” . It makes a lot of difference how the notes bloom and the quick response somehow gives more of the back and sides’ influence on the tone. Another good reason to just make my own dreadnaught. Some Martins are 4 3/4” deep, but they seem to be the minority.
48 is slightly brighter and slightly more articulate, slightly more punchy in the mids...The 41A has more richness, fuller sounding with more bass and maybe slight;y more sustain..Some of this is from the difference in strings and gauging and some of it is from the difference in bracing/scalloping and Sitka vs Red Spruce top. If I were buying one of the two by listening only to the sound, I would pick the 41A.

So would I Bill 🙂 I definitely like the sound of the 41A best myself

I put the same strings on in the next video 😁. That 41 A is turning out to be a good guitar. People seem to pick it almost every time

I like the 41a a little better. The bass on the 48 kinda thuds
