Hi Dennis, as always a very interesting video. Looked up when the Champion 700B was made: it was made between 1975 and 1979. I think it still has some reputation as a "Norway reel" : fishing the very deep fjords of Norway. Greetings from Holland.

I'd like to see you do a D.A.M.Quick Junior the little red ones. A friend of mine has one the the bail screw stripped. I got some aluminum fillings and epoxy and wow better than new. Such a quiet bale flip.

If this reel is like the ones I’ve gotten and used by DAM Quick it will be very stout and very over-engineered. It sure does look similar to an Ambassador. Unfortunately I have been very sick and hospitalized since last Saturday. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. Finding parts for reels like this and the D.Q. Spinning reels as well. I have four D.Q. 270 Supers that I use surf fishing as well as a 550 saltwater reel and a 331 for fresh or light saltwater fishing. They are all basically tanks and extremely well made. Dennis, even in the hospital with all kinds of tubes and wires I still managed to find a good deal on an Okuma Avenger reel. Hopefully I’ll be well in time to use it this spring. Best wishes! Chris

Nice reel aweso.e handle. Dam Quick made what I think are the best handle shapes. The old junior spinning reels asymmetrical handle being the finest handle for finesse fishing.

that button under the thumb spool release lever was there to lock the spool release lever because the angle the spool release was at a higher point then on Ambassador etc, more at 10 o'clock were this is at about 11:30 and it would get tripped in storage or transit and make a mess. these came out in the 70's. they were more popular in Europe then here. notice it doesn't have a thumb rest like the abu's etc have. in Europe they use the edge of the spool for their thumb and to control in casting it, also notice no switchable clicker feature

Hello been watching your penn senator fishing reel repair I was curious to know if your able to change side of the reel from right to left?

I haven't done it, but I think it can be done. Unfortunately, the parts would probably cost as much as finding a lefty. You would need a new bridge, gear sleeve, star adjuster, main gear and pinion gear to start. This assumes that the bridge handle side plate has the notch in both sides to allow the anti-reverse dog and spring to be mounted on the opposite side of the assembly. If that isn't there, then you would need a Left hand side plate as well - Dennis

My reel says Japan on bottom of foot and it is a size smaller than the one you worked on.

Yes - DAM started production in Japan in the late 1970s and moved some reel manufacture fro West Berlin to Japan at that time - Dennis

It says that this DAM reel is made in West Germany, but that is a lie. All the parts are made by a Japanese company called Isuzu Reel Industry, and only the inspection is made by DAM in West Germany. Some parts such as gears are common with the reels that Isuzu has been making OEM since before this reel was released. In the later model, all the parts remain the same, and the West German notation disappears and becomes Made in Japan notation.
