Hi so this is actually far from the truth. Brooke’s racist tweets only resurfaced because she made a tiktok crying over Joe Biden stepping down and the top comment was a black woman saying she remembered the Zimmerman tweets and that Brooke hadn’t changed. This led to the search bar on that tiktok being “Brooke’s old tweets” and the tiktok was deleted in less than a day. It was not Zach Sang or her spiteful ex who brought them up, it was the black people she hurt who remembered these tweets. I feel like blaming it on Zach or Clinton minimizes that sorry

D'Angelo s take is soooo refreshing as someone with really intense anxiety. It's not that you don't care, it's that you're not gonna be the individual sitting there battling all the semantics of the problem. Especially if this is just another way the problem (in this case racism) is showing up. Just because you are a PART of a community, you don't have to feel pressured to speak for the entire community if you don't want to. It doesn't mean you don't care especially if you say so/prove so in your regular life. Sometimes protecting your peace is important. Tacky is just anything fun that someone needs an excuse to be classist against. Whenever someone criticized something as "tacky" it was usually just a way of dismissing something pretty for not being expensive. Like plastic jewelry or whatever, pink flamingos etc. Ur just mad someone else was more interesting than you for less money. Tacky is when poor people have cool looking stuff, hoarding is when poor people have stuff and minimalism is just how much rich people can spread their stuff out. It all comes down to class
@marcievilches63532 ай бұрын
@@banquetoftheleviathan1404 I 100% agree with you, but I REALLY like the end of your explanation. I definitely always say this when someone says they want the “rich person minimalistic aesthetic” when it’s minimalistic to begin with bc they have less items, but each item is worth more in value. And “poor people” will tend to have more items, that are a lot less in value and worth. Both are pretty, but the attached connotations to each aesthetic are made by people who want everyone to bow down to classism.

Brooke’s actions (unfollowing and blocking people who are talking about her tweets) contradict her words (saying that she wants to have a conversation about said tweets.) if she really wanted to have a discussion about the things she said she would actually listen to the people she hurt with the things she said and not do the social media version of sticking her fingers in her ears and saying “La La La can’t hear you” because she wants the backlash she’s getting from those tweets to go away and it’s not going to. Your parents tell you to be careful with what you post online for a reason. This is an example of why they say it. I don’t think anyone told her that. She was old enough to know better and she still tweeted those things. She needs to face it and deal with the consequences of her actions.

I don’t think Brooke was traumatized by being taught what she was by her community and grandparents. I grew up with a similar type of indoctrination (minus the racism) and the only things about it that traumatized me were the things that affected me: the misogyny and homophobia. Unlearning was an intentional process and some people didn’t have the patience for it, but that’s not really traumatic. You’re not the victim in that situation, the people you were indoctrinated to hate are. Idk with Brooke Schofield, it just rubs me wrong how long she was racist for. It's hard to trust her. I want people to change their ways and become better people, but I think it's ALSO fair that people can choose to no longer support or care about her. Her Trayvon Martin tweet was DISGUSTING and same with her talking about faking her values in COLLEGE ESSAYS. I'm not one who can even accept her apology, but she comes across as genuine when she expresses how she's changed. HOWEVER, I think she still doesn't understand the severity of racism and prejudice after liking a Donald Trump post in 2024. And for me, I just don't even care to tune in about anything related to her anymore. I don't think she has anything important to bring to the world other than drama so unless she does something more with herself, I think many people just aren't interested in her content anymore. People are tired of "cancelling" and forgiving people probably too, even when it's warranted. There have been way too many NPOC folk inserting themselves, trying to prove to those similar to Brooke & her faction that it's easy to grow up in a bigoted environment & not be a bigot but once again... no-one asked??? The problem at hand is bigotry & viewpoints that minimise the seriousness & tragedy behind a teenager being hate-crimed to the point of murder, not you whom also grew up in similar environments managing to somehow not reduce the severity of racially-motivated murders??? The comments on content regarding Brooke's tweets are always 40% other NPOC / yt folx saying they are not bigots, 20% NPOC again giving un-asked for context to soften the blow of Brooke's bigotry, 10% NPOC saying she's clearly changed and 30% condemnation of the tweets.

i really think this was great commentary adam, not sure if you’re much of a reader but i’d love to recommend some books to you about the black experiences, how nuanced and complex we are as people! also, 30:11 it’s always been a mindset unfortunately babe, you just live with your head up. (as a baddie from da south 😘🥰).

Adam, you should always be allowed to take as much time off as you need to ensure your wellbeing is good & you are happy. We should thank you for doing what you do & being the wonderful fantabulous human you are ❤

I’m so sad Adam didn’t know where Tennessee was because Tennessee is life (as a Kentuckian with grandparents from Tennessee)

I live right above Tennessee and it's very high in violent crime & it's one of the most conservative, backwards states over here. It's basically Tex-Vegas.

Racism can be learned and it can be hard to unlearn, but what gets me is the unwillingness to learn about other perspectives. As an adult it's no one's responsibility but hers what her "views" are and what she's consuming to fuel those racist thoughts. She can blame her childhood all she wants but as an adult you had the opportunities to learn and grow beyond that and chose not to until later when it benefited her. No one is perfect but that's also why she should accept the criticism and grow from it.

If you’re worried about going to Tennessee it is definitely southern. I’ve only ever visited but people do have southern accents. It is absolutely beautiful though. Considering I flew out from smoggy Chicago to super clear skies Tennessee it was really nice.

I totally agree about the whole Zach sang and Clinton Kane team digging this up! I still believe Brooke is NOT the person she wanted us to believe she was but I mean Brooke and Zach and Clinton were all friends soo it is probably safe to say they are all horrible people

Adam being completely befuzzled about the location of Tennessee is sending me 😂 also, as an Indiana native and now living in south central Texas (where D’Angelo grew up), I can fully say both the north and south can be highly racist. I too grew up in a household where rush limbaugh was hailed and caregivers voted red regardless of who it was. Ironically enough, my first best friend was black. She asked me a question when we were about 5 or 6 saying “what is your favorite color?” I think I said rainbow 😂 hers was blue and purple 😊 Then. At FIVE OR SIX YEARS OLD she asked me what my least favorite color was. I hadn’t thought about it at the time but the point being, when I asked hers, she pointed to her skin saying “this.” At a time when we were in kindergarten, whereas I’d never had to think about being judged or treated differently by the color of my skin she had already hated hers because she’s already been taught at that naïve age that something was rotten, wrong, or bad about her. And that, my friends, racism.

18:40 good luck, Adam. Tennessee is notorious for homophobia. Keep yourself safe.
