Right on. In order to survive an encounter with a rogue, you have to hope they don't gain Advantage, An Arcane Trickster for example that drops Faerie Fire on his opponents at the start of the engagement. just one of the many ways to gain Advantage.

I have two questions about sneak attack. If the rogue is being directly attacked (say, a Direwolf has bitten their arm as the druid stepped up behind the wolf) does the rogue get sneak attack? My second question: Does a Wildfire druid's spirit companion count as the targets enemy? I had my druid plant her spirit on the rogues shoulder so they always get sneak attack. I struggled with the idea that the wolf would not notice the rogue if they are looking in the direction of both the spirit and the rogue. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you!

If you have advantage and disadvantage canceling each other out (and have an ally within 5'), does that get sneak attack? Or did the fact that disadvantage had an affect on the roll mean you don't get it?

Very good video, very useful, thank you very much! Just one thing, a lot of English native speakers make this mistake and it bothers me a little: Singular of dice is die. One six sided die. It's the same as mouse -> mice

Thank you. North American English uses the die as a singular. Modern Oxford English spoken by many other countries (New Zealand my country) use Dice and Die for the singular.

I study a lot of Middle and Old English, and the word comes from old Norman French dé/dés, and coming from French saying dice as singular just sounds really wrong to my ears xD like saying mice as singular. But if that's already standardised in Oxford English it's a different story of course.

So if you are also in 5 feet of the creature, you still get sneak attack damage as long as there is another person from your party within 5 feet? For example, the fighter in my party is attacking something. On my turn, I move in and attack with my dagger, putting me within 5 feet of it. I get sneak attack damage. I stay there within 5 feet of it. For my next turn, the creature hasn't died and both the fighter and myself are within 5 feet of it. Do I still get my sneak attack damage just not the advantage?

There are many reasons why you might have advantage. Stealth, hidding, hidden, the help action, Inspiration and DM rulings can give a Rogue advantage on an attack roll. I did not state the reason for the Rogue having advantage in the video as it is a huge topic. I just demonstrated how it works in relation to sneak attack.

There is no non-lethal damage in D&D 5e. You can knock a creature out in melee range if they are reduced to 0 hit points.
