I wasn't convinced at the beginning, seemed like a lot of work for a hex. But the tables seems very good and it looks like for smaller adventure it can really be useful. Thanks for sharing.

I would say that thinking about it as a standard hex, yeah, its a lot of work, but thinking about it as a dungeon / location adventure - it doesn’t seem to take any longer than a standard build.

After a little effort, I created an Inspiration Pad Pro file to automate most of the rolls, freeing me to do the creative thinking. Have not used it at the table yet, but definitely full of very evocative ideas.

I don't think I need the whole procedure, but it gives me a good idea for a swamp adventure I'm planning. I was going to do hexes, but the PCs will likely not get more than a mile or two deep (low level), so a single 6-mi hex, with first major areas restricted to 2-3 1-mi 'zones' might work really well with the random trails and extra features to link it all up like a dungeon. Good stuff. 👍

Man I keep coming back to the well with this one. Ive had the compliment that I run games like a living world, I would put that down to using OSR style content in my 5e games - your channel and this particular video is a constant source of inspiration. Thanks Daniel!

I am not too adventurous with game aids, so videos like this really expose a wealth of things to try that I normally would not. I love the format of the world building process and content therein. Awesome charts---I also love charts! These are great videos; keep them coming. This wilderness designing looks like it could combine perfectly with B/X styled play. Admittedly, it would be fasinating to see the game play of this too. Covering the whole process from conception and creation, to actual play.

Really interesting, by the end I was thinking what a great way to detail the local area around a home town, with a view to playing on a much more localised scale. I also started to look at several of the sites as adventure locations and it reminded me of how the game Beyond the Wall works when using the collaborative character gen rules. I might have to buy this, looks good fun. Did you play this out at all? I would be really interested to see how that went, even if it is an update vid of you talking through what happened? Excellent stuff.

Why are the hexes flat top within flat top? If you alternative the hex to have the opposite within, it fits nearly perfectly. No half hexes at all. So flat top world map would have pointy top dungeon map.
