Man, Imagine an adventure that starts with all of the player characters living in a town that was actually a Kuo-Toa Psion's playground. In the first few sessions they break out, and then they realize they had been stuck in that realm for YEARS with no memory of why they got stuck there in the first place. Now the adventurers have to remember their initial purpose and figure out what happened in the time they were gone.

Great idea, we need more insect-filled sack men in DnD. As an aside, I'm often disappointed how often, in discussions of necromancy and the undead, the remains of dead _insects_ are overlooked. Even thoroughly decayed ones are basically tiny animated armors, their exoskeletons and (where applicable) dried wings can grant them a modicum of substance. Individually weak for anything but scouting or "bothering", a swarm of undead insects could be potentially hazardous. Not even getting into the animated remains of _giant_ insects.
@vinokai4 жыл бұрын
Bluecho4 bruh...if we add death Shroud, imagine a hood that covers a head of a dead giant arachnid of some sort with millions and millions of dead insects, and other creatures beneath. Maybe an undead locust swarm attack that can cause some kind of infection damage. (I new to D&D, sorry)

Just thought of an alternate interpretation: the Ragamufflin Small undead, neutral A disembodied spirit seeking to remedy its need for living companionship, the Ragamufflin uses its powers of telekinesis to construct a child-like scarecrow for itself out of sticks, debris and old clothing. While ultimately harmless Ragamufflins are tricksters by nature, showing its affection for individuals or adventuring parties by pilfering small items from others and leaving them as gifts. A Ragamufflin whos affection is rejected may become despondent and hostile, playing increasingly cruel pranks on the subject of its ire unless appeased or convinced to leave.

opinion after watching the whole video: please do more of these. And OMG the last one. Imagine the death shroud as the main quest giver in a campain. Contrary to every player's assumption this god of death they are slowly building is not the end boss and has completely benevolent intentions. If the party refuses to kill someone it just shrugs it off "I'll have them eventually, one way or another". The party is made hesitant to kill powerful monsters knowing that said power would just be added to the death shroud if they did. However the death shroud has to be placated with corpses so it's either the monsters or someone inocent. At the end of the campaign the death shroud tries to fight the main boss for the party and, if they've given it a lot of strong bodies it succeeds. If they havent it's torn apart and the party have to fight a slightly weakened final boss whilst wading through a sea of pieces of corpse.

They can behave like critters or be entirely sentient. Especially if your party has someone dabbling with necromancy, this thing could be soo interesting to deal with. (I admit it, I would to try to communicate with it and maybe make it my lab assistant/partner in crime/ corpse disposer. The little version is also kinda cute, in a morbid way)

My thoughts on these fusions: The trappinch: seems the most forced I guess out of these. It looks cool as hell, but the concept of a basically zombie that drags them under seems kinda boring. Granted if it dragged them though hell that would be cool. Grick/Sawsbuck is simple and can be used in a lot of situations, mainly ambushes but that’s not a bad thing as gricks are ambushers. And a fun thing is you could have several varieties of them like Pines, Bonsais, or whatever fits a particular region/area/or time (Christmas tree gricks anyone?). Absol/dragon: God I love this combo. Easily could be a quite guardian to a town, city or region that takes the forms of humans or whatever to warn the people of a coming threats/ dangers. Mr. Mime/Toa: Dear god this could be broken as both have similar but compatible abilities. From something like creating physical walls out of nothing to creating literally anything it wants just by itself. Mimiku/Corpuses: has a lot of versatility from familiar (possibly), to low/high cr monster, quest giver or big bad.

00:10 Oh, I've been there! Pokemon was my childhood, too! It's near and dear to my heart. Oh, wow! Absol is my favorite Pokemon, Umbreon my second-favorite. Okay, these are all so amazing! The art, the descriptions and world-building and adventuring hooks, the melding of characteristics to form the inclinations of one creature! This is absolutely inspired, JessJackdaw! Amazing! Thank you! My mind is racing with the possibilities! Jess! How did you make the little Death Shroud cute?! Oh, and the music choices were amazing and inspired, too! Love the Death Shroud music! The Mourner's Mire lives on grief, right? So it would def want it's victims to keep returning! Imagine an infestation of them plaguing a town, each attack making the infestation worse and worse! Maybe the Grick also has a tentacled deer spirit (like a dryad) that is vulnerable! Maybe the Grick can make itself into any tree that is rooted near, like needle-thowing pines or Whomping Willows? And the party can't get near it and they have to lure out it's spirit? I love the idea of Tatzel Wyrms being aligned and helpful to towns! Imagine how disturbing the meathooks and flayed corpses would be walking into town, though! I wanna design the typical Tatzel Wyrm shrine! I have so many visual ideas running through my head right now! Oh, the culture! I could design a whole people around their relationship with the Tatzel Wyrm! Nay, continent! Oh gods. This Psion is something else! I noticed the ref, I remember that episode! That was something else entirely! I watched Pokémon daily throughout my childhood and still have a shoebox full of cards. Oh, no! You so wanted to make a cute one! I mean, what you could do with the Tatzel Wyrm or the Death Shroud alone! You could have this Shroud following the party, making donations and becoming first a mystery, then a moral dilemma, then a problem if not eradicated, for what does it do if the party doesn't fulfill it's requests? Does it turn on them, or go off on it's own? Does it purposefully develop chimaera-like stitched-together qualities? Can it develop sentience, and the ability to speak out of it's many mouths, and be interrogated? Can a Shroud ripped apart to it's threads and used to stitch together a monstrosity? How do individual Shrouds tackle the problem of keeping ownership and control of an ever-growing hoard? If they lose control of their corpses, does that create loose zombies? (The correct answer is "H*ll yes!" I mean, can you imagine!) What if a really powerful and old Shroud is disintegrating and leaving Revenants in it's wake as it struggles to keep going and do. . . something with it's amassed knowledge. Maybe it's been hit with Change Alignment? And as it's disintegrating it is losing bits and pieces of it's memory, but still desperately trying to stop this evil from happening, and it leads the party right to it! Maybe the party met it in battle after it was following them, and that's how it got hit by Change Alignment! The possibilities are endless! Enjoyed it?! This is amazing! Thank you so much! You're amazing! Ah! Wonderful! I can't wait to play with these! I think I wanna draw a Tatzel Wyrm shrine now! Just imagine! I can see it in my head, a low stone and wood slat building with the peeling dark teal paint, carved wood motif borders around the archway to inside with touch-worn paint, hoarfrost creeping along the blue fieldstone base, a worn cushion for kneeling upon just inside the entrance and barely out of the wind, before a low stone altar stretching the narrow space from wall to wall and then back into a recess that makes up the majority of the building, a lantern swaying on a wrought iron hook above, casting warm light on many displayed offerings, like carved wood and bone amulets, tender morsels of small animals, lamb, bowls of animal fat, crystals, and other things, while the recess is filled with warm, fresh hay, down, oakmoss, and quilts. Dark red eyes gleam from deep within. The low stone building is not yards from a popular trade route, a vast glacier in the distance, with a crevasse populated by many monsters so the local Tatzel Wyrms are the only way trade can pass through unmolested and the people here can survive. The people even look after Tatzel Wyrm kits, given the chance. Whether babysitting them for a day, or raising them. Other peoples recognize their religion, appreciate the Tatzel Wyrms, but see the religion as a bit, extreme and strange. "Worshipping a monster, even a helpful one?" The people of this icy region venerate them, and would do anything in their power to make the population density of Tatzel Wyrms even greater. Which they try, with the shrines and offerings of food. Perhaps the Tatzel Wyrm also warms of disasters, like Absol? And so help the party if they kill a Tatzel Wyrm and the locals find out about it! Or maybe they're hungry and steal an offering? Or they just get gradually more freaked-out by all of the animal corpses dangling from meathooks in the forest, and, barring any trees, from lightposts or other improvised perches.

The ability to render these things so beautifully visually and then also suss out the thematic links between very different creatures to make these gestalt mixes complete with backstory is really impressive to see all from one person.

for the record, less then half of the ghost types are evil by default.
@ailingstar88565 жыл бұрын
Just from memory... Banette, Cofagrigus, Litwick, Lampent, Chandelure, Gourgeist, Sandygast and Pallosand are all evil, and cases can be made for a few others like Drifloon and I honestly can't remember about Froslass. Then you have tricksters like Gengar, Rotom, or Mismagius. Finally, you have misunderstood ghost types with good or benign intentions, like Dusknoir, Mimikyu, and Trevenant. And really, for the litwick line, it's just a case of having a really creepy way of obtaining sustenance.
@nullpoint33462 жыл бұрын
@@ailingstar8856 My interpretation of Litwick is that they only feed off of the life energy that's already left the body. The extension of this concept has some interesting ideas for a companion creature. They most certainly could be fueled by your dying breath, but they definitely want you to live a while. The strength of their flame is determined by the rate they consume this power, so most try to keep it dim and eerie so as to extend their lives, but will burn brighter in the presence of the strong or dying (without negative consequence to either of their lives), potentially to the point of being bonfires to mourn the death of a strong being. Here's the big one. Some might purposefully burn themselves out when their trainer dies so that their light can guide their fallen friend to the afterlife.

this death shroud sounds pretty interesting, i never got a use for the cadaver collector as is a too specfic monster, but this one might work on a bigger basis, nice job.
@valleypathfinder98914 жыл бұрын
Personally, I think the idea of the death shroud is awesome! Imagine if it got big enough to cover a freshly slain dragon? It could provide a potion of it's new (and obviously large) sum of gold, of not the majority of it, along with magic coin pouches to hold the riches, to the party responsible for it's new body, and then could give a quest for new fabrics to help keep it's new body covered, or ask for help to bind its mass to the scales of its newest body as to allow for flight, then leave behind a small portion to create a new beginning for itself, and the main body can remain in the cave, finally content as the newly 'born' death shroud follows it's new friends. (Sorry for the long comment, I just really like coming up with ideas and you provided the perfect groundwork. Also, love your art, keep up the great work!)

These fusions have got to be the most interesting and visually stunning concepts I've ever seen. The time and love that went into these creations is absolutely amazing and to be praised. On top of that to be able to come up with dark, alluring, and captivating backstories with each one is a step beyond artistic talent. Your art, storytelling, and personality are an awesome combination that make all your videos so awesome to watch and listen too. Also you have the perfect voice for alluring storytelling to the point that it gives me goosebumps. You're an amazing and I hope you keep growing and rising further to reach your goals.

For Dming stealing and plagarising good villains and monsters is a keystone of the art. The trick is to steal from lesser known franchises or stories so the players don't immediately recognise them.

With you saying that there aren’t many good characters that are intimidating, my DM (dad) introduced a new party member, half-orc, by putting them in a situation with a goblin and a terrified nome, but because dad told me, when the party was getting in their battle stance, I said I’d lean up against a tree. They were about to slaughter the half-orc barbarian, but to make sure that they wouldn’t, the half orc slayed the goblin.

I really admire how you're able to portray various types of texture equally well, from fabric to fur to scales - the way you choose colours is also fascinating to watch, it has never occurred to me that cyan/blue could be added to skin tones like this. Thank you so much for making these, they're a delight to watch!
