That first duel demonstrated why you also play the damn beowulf. Also wasted Genghis + Ragnarok. The very basic like is "i get genghis to the field, lamia + necro in the gy. make Alex, fusion 2ng genghis, then alex gives lamia + siegfried, then genghis revives alex and lamia sends gates for crystal." With the added contract Beowulf would seal the deal. Or Trish. D/D was wombo combo, but secretly a surprisingly good OTK beatdown deck if negates weren't needed.

I remember this structure deck getting postponed in favor of the felgrand structure, and this deck ended up having 15 minutes of fame. Cause zoo came out 3 weeks later. I remember playing all the different techs in the deck. Playing speedroids and metorburst to summon from scales. (friend of mine hated this cause wavering eyes was banned right before I starting playing D/D. I remember playing Dark law, transmodify was for Rag. Use Transmodify on D'arc bring out rag and rag brings back D'arc.

This wasn't the only delay. Genghis/Alex were tin promos, so initially the deck only had D'Arc and Ceasar and Ragnarok. Then after the structure deck, the High King versions were also delayed and High Genghis was really good vs Strikers while also promoting the turbo rank 8 build. Finally to top it all off, Gilgamesh came almost 2 years later while other Link Vrains pack monsters were imported almost immediately.

You were literally playing checkers while your opponents played Chess. Garbage like D/D/D is why Yu-Gi-Oh gets such a bad reputation. Sure for the player it's interactive but for your opponent it's like "I'ma summon this whole board of big guys. Do you have Max C? Well shit. You win. Scoop game 2."

I played D/D/D during the first parts of MR5 and it’s interesting to see how the archetype has changed from its initial conception. The list doesn’t play Big Genghis which was pretty crucial to the combo line and of course lack Gilgamesh. Not to mention it’s not playing techs the later lists would frequently use like where arf thou.

There it is! my favourite tier 1 deck of all time! The story of how this deck was released on the tcg is a tragic one, had they released it a few months earlier it would have been a tier 1 monster similar to how it was on the ocg, but it was released JUST WEEKS BEFORE FULL POWER ZOO AND TRUE DRACO! which completely killed any chances of this deck actually succeding in taking over the meta just like in the OCG. I vividly remember waiting months for this deck to come out in the tcg, i was so excited that i tested the deck for months on edopro to learn the combo lines and god it was HARD but really rewarding, then the deck came out and i had such a blast until zoo and true draco came out and completely tore the game apart and created a massive powerlevel rift between all other decks that were not those 2 in specific, i still tried my best to compete in zoo format using D/D/D and even tho i got my ass properly handed to me most of the time i still really enjoyed myself during this format and to this day i still treasure this deck very fondly, there's just no comparable feeling to getting in the zone while doing a combo and properly putting all the pieces together to create a massive board of big chunguses with negates, disruptions and long-ass names.

I feel that in my bones, especially when i had already invested in Desires, Omega, and Crystal. It's wasn't about their price but more about the letdown. ABC DDD Paleo would have been a great format, and i dare say D/D would have won worlds that year (iirc only swirl was semi limited in the ocg)

@@babrad Oh i definitely agree, specially that last part, D/D/D would have torn up worlds but konami wanted to push blue-eyes that year which was so infuriating because that's the same reason why the D/D/D structure deck got delayed in favour of the felgrand one (all of that for 1 card)... Everything that could have gone wrong with the deck's release schedule went wrong, and then some, really sad stuff to see.

People just remember about the structure, but forget they split up Genghis/Alex into 2 different tins as promos, gave Extra deck monsters with strict D/D materials a set before the main deck monsters, delayed High Kings (particularly Genghis) into the first half of vrains era, threw the superdooms in random places and finally imported Gilgamesh after 2 years of waiting (while other Link Vrains Pack monsters got imported in 2 months or the next core set special edition) And don't get me started on some of the WORST wording, overbalancing the archetype to the point of unplayability without a reason. We got Dragoon and Vice King Requiem in the same pack for gods sake.

Oh boy now this is a history of yugioh that i was expected to see. Dark Legion Starter Deck was my first introduction to D/D/D and im a fan of it since Akaba Reji used it in the show. Since then (from the starter deck) i began to upgrade it with each latest support and with Pendulum Domination and onward i began to perfect my D/D/D deckto new heighs, even now i build a deck that focus on bringing out the 3 superdoom kings and Deus. So this video is my area of experties and would know by heart of some of them on how they work.

i have to addmit, this was kinda a blind spot in my YGO knowledge, i stopped playing YGO at the beggin of the pendlum era, i recently got back into the game beacuse of the Master duell. I am not the biggest fan of D/D/D, simply because of the way it is playd, but i love the concept. IMO it was Ash that hit them even harder. This also led to Ogre being used, while High Genghis was delayed and could help deal with that backrow format even better. You could play a rank8 turbo build when d-barrier was used on fusion. The deck had good matchups facing backrow, the issue was Drident easily popping your best card when you couldn't go into Crystal Wing.

I think D/D/D has potential. Like what if they got a pendulum monster that specials itself, draws on pend summon, and searches a D/D card on special from grave and an XYZ you can stack on D/D/D monsters and non-once per turn snatch steals when your opponent activates a monster effect on field, and another XYZ that non-once per turn negates special summon effects, and a link monster that sets scales directly from deck... It just amazes what they will print on cards but the goal post only moves an inch lmao

What if they got a monster that Specials itself without needing a requirement of already having a D/D monster on the field, that milled a name from Deck for Cost, then if another name was summoned you get a search instead of having to revive a Pendulum that effectively hurts you because those limited 3 revives are used on bosses instead? Or an Xyz that "negates" instead of stealing that can actually work on its own without relying on S/T cards on the field to use as ammo? Or "another XYZ that non-once per turn negates special summon effects" worded so terribly that it doesn't work in most cases, unlike a starlight oppressed Mermaid? You just commented on some great cards at face value, but the intentional wording makes it very clear D/D as a deck was never designed to be meta OR high-tier. I could give you even more prominent examples.

Dueling Book is much more hands-on and therefore more realistic than playing on a simulator that automates things. Especially if the automated simulator accidentally allows for a cheat (happened to me once when I was playing against a friend using early SPYRALs) and you can't do a damn thing to fix the game state. That's why I prefer that over automated stuff these days.

@@mex_I.M Again, it's far more realistic and forgiving to play on DB. Especially since you can potentially fix a faulty game state in case shit happens, just like with the IRL card game. You don't get that experience with an automated simulator. If it messes up, then that mistake is set in stone and you can't do shit about it. You're forced to start a brand new match, assuming you can.

@@cameraredeye3115 Or just live with a mistake ? Cuz most of the times they miss the basic shit. They have been using DB for so fucking long you would think they would notice OPD clause. And your point assumes they actually keep count of what they are doing or that they know game well enough ; while playing different decks in such tight window they would benefit more if they would at least do the run or 2 in automated simulator.

Technically, Cimo did misplay at the end of Game 2. His play could have been done the same, just had to summon Devyaty first before Gameciel, but since he did summon Gameciel first, Devyaty could not be Summoned because both Dante's and Gameciel added up to 13 in levels and ranks.
