Thanks for the reaction ! 👏 Under your reaction to the song "Judgement Day" I wrote in detail about LOVEBITES (2 comments). If you are interested you can find them and learn more about this phenomenal band.🤗 I'll try to answer your questions. Sorry for the big text. But it won't work out any other way. The organizer, inspirer and leader of the band Miho (bass 2016 - 2021) wanted to create "the band of her dreams". A band whose main musical direction is a combination of power metal and "old school" heavy metal of the 1980s ( New Wave Of British Heavy Metal). Miho is a fan of Steve Harris and IRON MAIDEN. Steve Harris and Nikki Sixx (MöTLEY CRüE) had the greatest influence on her as a bass player. Interesting fact : the band was even called POWERSLAVES for a while (not for long). Doesn't that remind you of anything? 🤔The analogy with IRON MAIDEN's "Powerslave" Album, 1984 suggests itself. Under the name POWERSLAVES, the ladies played one show in August 2016. They covered songs of famous bands (MOTöRHEAD, KROKUS, METALLICA, SAXON ). Brief prehistory. Miho (bass) and Haruna (drums) used to play in the heavy metal band DESTROSE. In 2014, Haruna left DESTROSE due to the fact that she was about to get married and wanted to devote herself to her family. In 2015, DESTROSE announced a break in their activities, but in fact ceased to exist. After some time, Miho decided to start a band ("her dream band"). She invited Haruna to join her and find the others together. Then Midori (blonde, guitar) from the disbanded GEKIJO★METALICCHE band joined the band and Asami (lead vocals) who was backing vocals for various famous Japanese artists and bands ( AI, SE7EN, Yamamoto Sayaka, AKB48, Ohguro Maki, AK-69, KAT-TUN, Rola, Nakamura Ayumi ). To match the sound of old school metal, NWOBHM was additionally invited as a supporting musician by Miyako (guitar, keyboards). But the main cast was 4 people (Miho, Haruna, Midori, Asami) The first band that Miyako started playing in at the age of 20 was called A DROP OF JOKER. At the time of her invitation as a support musician to LOVEBITES, Miyako was playing in the band 21G ( the weight of the human soul when the soul leaves the body of a dying person ). As is often the case with budding musicians, the new band initially covered the songs of well-known bands and performed in small halls in front of a small number of spectators. At the same time, LOVEBITES recorded demos of their own songs. The Recording Company "Victor Entertainment" became interested in this demo and based on it, "The Lovebites EP" (4 songs) was released in May 2017, which immediately attracted the attention of the music press and professionals from different countries. Around the same time (spring 2017), Miyako forms a duet with popular singer Aya Kamiki called SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. In August 2017, Miyako is accepted into LOVEBITES as a permanent member. It happened on the recording of LOVEBITES' first studio album "Awakening from Abyss" (released October 2017), which received a lot of rave reviews from stern music critics. But Miyako continues to participate in 21G and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS: - in September 2017, SONIC LOVER RECKLESS recorded and released digitally the single "Phoenix" (3 songs) - In April 2018, 21G's studio album called "GENORATION 2" (10 songs) with Miyako was released. - in September 2018, SONIC LOVER RECKLESS songs were recorded on CD and DVD, which were released in December 2018 under the name "The Phoenix". I advise you to pay attention to Miyako. As a composer, she will definitely go down in rock history! Outwardly calm, attracting little attention on stage (the most cheerful and charismatic on stage Midori and Asami ! ), an introvert, Miyako is a real Musical Genius!☀And this is not an exaggeration. 🐺When the ladies created the band, they carefully thought through everything ( appearance, musical concept, performing songs in English etc., ect.). All LOVEBITES album covers (except for the first "The Lovebites EP") feature the Wolf, symbolizing that, playing a non-mainstream heavy metal genre, the band is the "Lone Wolf" of today's metal scene. This also emphasizes the white color of the ladies' dresses. Although they dressed in white dresses for other reasons. Thus, the Wolf became the talisman of LOVEBITES. Accordingly, LOVEBITES fans began calling themselves the "Wolf Pack". You rightly said that LOVEBITES will take the place of the great heavy metal bands. I may add that LOVEBITES has already made a huge contribution to the development of heavy music. Those who understand this are witnessing the ERA of LOVEBITES💥. This ERA came in 2017 with the release of the first EP and the first LOVEBITES Album.

Man, you covered just about everything about Lovebites. The only thing I would add is that the name of the band actually comes from Halestorm's song "Love Bites (So do I)". It generated so much hype, that Lzzy Hale actually invited Asami to sing a duet of the song on stage together with Halestorm! There's a video of that on KZbin. Moreover, Miyako's primary instrument is the piano and NOT the guitar!! She's a classically trained piano soloist. Imagine playing guitar like that without it being your primary instrument!! Simply a-m-a-z-i-n-g...

I'm 72, and had given up on popular music about 30 years ago. It just didn't do anything for me. So for the last 30 years, I've pretty much focused on classical music. When I first saw a Lovebites video, I was shocked. They take the influences of all the bands we've loved over the years, and have made it into something new and fresh. It also doesn't hurt that they have 4 of the greatest musicians in the world. They have all played in previous bands, but the music I've heard of those early bands is pretty unmemorable. However, when they all came together, they created something bigger than the sum of all the individual parts. Asami, the vocalist, studied ballet for many years and song mostly R&B and soul. This is the first metal band that she's been in. My favorite member is Miyako, the dark haired guitarist. She's one of the most talented musicians that I've ever seen. She started classical piano at age 3 and had plans of being a classical pianist. At age 18, she picked up a guitar and TAUGHT HERSELF to play guitar. She's also taught herself to play some bass and drums. She now writes most of their songs; she wrote "Stand and Deliver." It's hard to believe, but they keep up this pace for a full 2 hour concert. Oh yes, the Wolfpack is the self-titled group of die hard Lovebites fans. You see a wolf in most of the band's artwork, so I guess it seemed natural to call the fan base the Wolfpack. They had a live stream on KZbin last night, and all 5 of the ladies were there. They played the entire album that's being released tomorrow. Not many bands would do that. Most bands would say that if you want to hear their music, buy the album. There's just something different about this band, and I absolutely love them. Take care!

I’m with you, for so long American bands just mostly dropped the ball and weren’t bringing anything exciting. Then I found Japanese bands like Lovebites, Nemophila, Lonsome Blue, Band Maid, Gacharic Spin, Trident, Bridear, Hagane, Hanabie, Fate Gear, Kosame, Broken By The Scream, the list goes on and on.. they give me hope for the future of rock/metal.

Ralph, firstly congrats on reaching the youthful age of 72 🥳. Though I m a tad younger but not by much there is something I will point out we have seen and heard everything associated with this music, as for myself it was the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Woodstock 😉, and a plethora of the greatest bands on this planet. Punk came as a surprise in 76 but it added its own to the mix as we can see and hear in Lovebites and all other influences that bring the unique sound of Lovebites. Keep it metal my friend and be well 😎🤟

The more I see them play and hear the tales behind the music so to speak the more enamored I am by them. They are the anti establishment metal band that our heroes were in the 80s and they’re above and beyond them in light years both in raw talent and gracious attitude. Being a long time Dean guitarist I have a sweet spot for the one guitarist, but honestly this entire band shreds as a whole and individually better than any active band out there today

Lovebites consider themselves the lone wolves of heavy metal, adopting the wolf as their emblem and feature it prominently on the cover art of their entire discography, They are the Alpha and as such, the fanbase refer to themselves as the Wolfpack. Indeed I can absolutely guarantee you that every single offering you will ever hear is going to be a critical hit. They are indeed the benchmark in composition and musicianship. I'm quite sure that you have or will imminently be bombarded with facts and figures regarding the members as well as a huge stack of recommended MVs and live performances, all of which will blow you away. I can't honestly say which is "better" than this or that because that is a matter of personal perspective and taste.. just enjoy discovering them at your own pace

I was totally dumbfounded first time I saw a video of theirs. I literally couldn't think of a way respond to them. I was asked after that how to describe them. Only thing I could think of was, they are Heavy Metal Opera. These ladies are beyond insanely talented, each and every one of them. Fami, only 20 and is a beast on bass. She also great on piano, guitar, she's a composer and a very good vocalist. The other ladies are also very multi-talented. Miayko guitar, is also an amazing classical pianist. Asami vocals, I understand is also a great dancer. Haruna, Drums and piano, Midori the blonde guitarist, and award-winning body builder. I can't wait to actually see them live. Watch their video Burden Of Time you will see Miyako playing guitar and the keyboard at the same time. I would like to highly recommend two other Japanese Female bands. Band Maid, who had a very successful US Tour last October. And Nemophila, They have played a few shows in the States. About to start a tour here, two Shows in Austin for that big festival there.

Whatever their influences their sound is pure "Lovebites". Before joining Lovebitess both guitarists played in metalcore bands, the drummer played in a very influential metal band called Destrose, the vocalist sang r'n'b and and soul and had never heard of heavy metal until she joined the band. Those four are all 30+ years old and two of them are recent young mothers. The bass player was in high school until two years ago and was only thirteen when the band formed back in 2016. Both guitarists started to learn to play comparatively late, Midori (blond) when she was twenty and Miyako (black hair) at the age of eighteen or nineteen. BTW Miyako is also a concert performance level classical pianist and had she not picked up a guitar and taught herself to play, she would most probably be earning her living as a professional classical pianist.

Wolfpack is the name of the fandom because Lovebites almost always has wolves on their cover. As for previous bands, Haruna (drums) used to be in Destrose with ex member Miho (bass), btw, Destrose was a tumultuous band with over 25 full time members in their 8 years and around 20 part time ones, all those ex members have started or been in over 40 bands as of now most of them Metal. They were the pioneers of the resurgence of the all female Metal band with Aldious after Show-Ya (80s band) went on hiatus for many years Miyako (guitar black hair) was in A drop of Joker, 21g and the duo project Sonic Lover Reckless plus did some support for some bands such as Aldious in 2010 Midori (guitar blond hair) was in Gekijo METALicche Asami (vocals) was a R&B/Soul lounge singer for a while and also did some backup vocals for Akb48 (biggest idol group in the world) and more with Yamamoto Sayaka during her solo tour and a few other artists Fami (bass) was and still has her KZbin channel, no previous professional band as far as I know

The drummer Haruna and previous bassist Miho were in the all female metal band Destrose and after Destrose broke up Haruna wanted to start a new band. Guitarists Miyako and Midori have been in rock bands. Miyako is also a classical pianist. The lead vocalist Asami is an R&B/soul singer mostly backup. This is her 1st metal band. Ex-Destrose members are all over Japanese metal. Fate Gear, Mary's Blood, Disqualia, Lonesome Blue, Mardelas and many others have ex-Destrose members. Mostly all women bands. Also checkout the all female metal core band Nemophila and their song Dissension. Lots and lots of talented musicians in Japan.

The wolf is Lovebites‘ spirit animal so their fans named themselves wolfpack. Former bassist Miho and drummer Haruna, they founded Lovebites, played together in Destrose. Asami , the singer has a RnB background and a ballet education. Miyako has played in several bands and projects. 21g and Sonic Lovet Reckless are the ones I know of. Fami, the bassist runs her own yt channel with over 650k subs. Midori has played in at least one other band/project. All of them play piano up to a certain level, except for ***, she plays „slightly“ better ( not going to spoil it for you, as the requests for certain songs will come up for sure). As another reactor stated: „It should be illegal that they are allowed to play in one band“ regarding Miyako and Midori.

Japan and Europe and South America and even India and Indonesia are becoming / have become the standard bearers of metal for a while. Japan has many talented metal bands, though I think that Lovebites will appeal to a Western audience used to classic metal the most. What I mean to say is, although Lovebites are at the pinnacle of Japanese metal (in my opinion), there is more to discover. Not all of it is immediately accessible to Westerners as well as Lovebites is because it is often much more Japanese in its vibe, and that often means: somewhat poppy in the vocals, although the instrumentalists are unfailingly top notch. That said, another Japanese band that is also easy on the ear for a Western audience is Asterism, which is mostly an instrumental band (maybe that's why) with a great shredder (again female); and if you know and like early Nightwish (Tarja era), you might give Unlucky Morpheus a chance. (Fuki's vocals require a bit of a leap of faith at first, but once you accept her vibrato, you'll see how well it fits their gothic power metal stuff. Plus, they have the best violinist in rock history.)

Enjoying the reactions! Next, you need to do a live performance. I would personally recommend "Raise Some Hell". Drummer, Haruna and Former bassist, Miho were in Destrose together (try "Rin" or "Maze"). When that band split up, they started Lovebites. Blonde guitarist, Midori was in a band called Gekijo Metalliche (try "Make Up") prior to Lovebites. Dark Haired guitarist/pianist, Miyako was in several projects in including 21g and Sonic Lover Reckless ("Phoenix" by Sonic Lover Reckless is hot!). Lovebites is Vocalist, Asami's first metal band. She sang R&B prior (there are videos of her covering Alicia Keys and Michael Jackson). New bassist, Fami, is very young. And while she has stage experience playing with other musicians, as fas as I know, this is her first established band. When Miho left, Lovebites held bass auditions. Fami won the spot among over 1000 applicants from all over the world, male and female! (check out her cover of "Alien, Alien" she recorded in her bedroom....it'll blow your mind!)

For Miyako, one should probably mention "A Drop of Joker". As I understand it, she played with them longer than 21g and Sonic Lover Reckless (and produced more output) before going to Tokyo. Could be wrong, but as she flew to Okinawa in her last week's VLOG to meet them, I suppose, that's true.

Wolfpack USA here. We are devout, protective fans of Lovebites. We understand not only their past gifts to us thru their music but also what they offer the world of metal as far as the future. They are my family. My siblings. We are their pack. Completely. They have described themselves as the "lone wolves" of metal. No tats, no grunge, no piercings (other than earrings). They dress feminine, are beautiful and know it. BUT it is a setup. Easier to melt your face that way if the listener is capable of getting beyond the visuals. Lovebites is the best thing that could have happened to metal and at the right time. I personally never considered myself a metalhead. I am a individual thats thrives on GOOD music regardless of genre. That said I am totally enthralled by this wonderful group of world class, talented musicians. As you both stated they are LOVEBITES. LOVEBITES sounds like a distillation of their metal influences while at the same time sounding completely fresh and new. That's some skill in and of itself. I love the casual, fun nature of the video; it has the feeling of a Nemophila video (by the way, check out "Adabana" or "Raitei" by them) more than a standard LOVEBITES video, and I love it. It's great to see how much fun they have when they're together and to see their personalities.

@@criticalhitsbadmisses Oh wow. Ok, we have 4 alternatives to start with. The classic, the song with which Lovebites are almost always discovered, "Holy War", 2020 concert in Tokyo, classic Power Metal. Another alternative would be one of their heaviest Thrash Metal pieces, "Set the world on fire". If you're looking for something beautiful, then we have "A Frozen Serenade", a progressive ballad. And if you like something similar to this video, well Hard Rock never hurts, that would be "Scream for Me". Just search by the name of the song, the link with the most visits is the one you should see (remember, live versions). As you can see, there are 4 songs, all with different styles, in the same band. Edit: A curious fact, one of the guitarists is actually a Pianist, the guitar is her second instrument. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing to also review someday "Swan Song" with the Chopin intro. Edit 2: ok ok ok, is better with the links XD Holy War: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJikqaN7paqWpNE Set the World on Fire: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2rdpHtsnqySbMU A frozen Serenade: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5aboYSMqpKFhJo Scream for Me: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5TanKOenN-BnZo

Great reaction again guys. Try some of their older live stuff, you can see and hear that they are live as good as on the studio tracks. Holy War and Swansong (with the Chopin intro) are great live songs. I listen to metal and hard rock music for more than 30 years, but these ladies play the music I grew up with. My old favorite bands are mostly playing boring rock music now, Metalllica stopped playing metal after their third album. Enjoy Lovebites, greetings from Holland.

The live performance in this clip is excellent and I also like this song very much, thus I fully second your recommendation, but to refer to this song as "old school thrash" might cause wrong expectations, because "Raise Some Hell" is definitely not a Thrash Metal song, though Lovebites can also do this style in perfection, the best examples - IMO - being "Break the Wall", "Set the World on Fire" and "The Hammer of Wrath" (preceded by the intro "The Awakening"), which have already been recommended in other comments.

I would add BRIDEAR and ALDIOUS to this list. Stereopony and Scandal helped pave the way for a lot of these newer bands. I love Band-Maid, have seen them live twice and they have now been around for 10 years. Scandal has gone kind of soft recently, and Stereopony broke up many years ago. but BRIDEAR's "Aegis of Athena' is my favorite album of 2022. The women are kicking ass in the Japanese rock scene and slowly spreading and catching fire outside of Japan too thanks to the internet. IMO the rock scene has been owned by them for the past 10 years. I am very happy to see Band-Maid, Nemophila and Lovebites really taking flight in the past few years. So many good bands. Lonesome Blue, Polkadot Stingray, Hagane. oy, I could go on and on lol. enjoy the journey, you're only at the very tip so far. :)

Great reaction guys - if you read through the comments you'll get a fairly complete guide to the band and their respective backgrounds . There's plenty of live performance videos available on KZbin for you to delve in to their back catalogue ( my personal favourites are " Swan Song " ( with a Chopin intro ) and " Spellbound " - for wildly different reasons . I loved Miho on bass - but the addition of Fami appears to have taken the band in a slightly different ( perhaps better ? ) direction - can't wait to listen to the new album being performed LIVE !

I'm not a musician so i don't know the proper definition of music. I'd dare to say that it's a combination of sounds named "notes" wich, if i'm not mistaken, are 7. How many unique combinations can someone make out of these 7 sounds? A lot but surely not infinite. That being said, it's out of question not to hear influences from older bands in Lovebites songs-and in any other band's songs- because all, or at least most, of these combinations have already been played. Welcome to our journey.

If this doesn't convince you to go ahead and begin a long journey into the Lovebites discography then I just don't know? The two songs you have already heard are 2 very explosive songs, by tomorrow they will have a total of 60+ songs and 3 covers so it's time to catch up. The special thing is not all the songs sound the same, no fillers, all constructive and carefully arranged songs, I will say that ALL of the songs in ALL of the albums and EPs will do the very same thing as this one just did. There is no one song better than the next ALL are complex and explosive. I fell in love with Lovebites and there were 2 other friends with me who debated on the name for the fans, I came up with the name "The Wolfpack" in 2017 and the other 2 concurred, but of course, no one is going to remember that but say the members or fan base calls themselves The Wolfpack. We 3 original Wolfpack dropped out when there was way too much riffraff arguing over senseless things and they were never defending the ladies of Lovebites and taking sides with many bogus reactors (fake reactors) who were only in it for popularity. Sorry for ranting but the truth is the truth and no one wants to hear it. Your references do fit and Merciful fate didn't quite get it unless you are speaking on the chants and rants from all the band members?

New to your channel, but it looks like you haven’t reacted to the band NIGHTWISH yet. One of their slower/softer songs is currently the most reacted to videos on KZbin. Check out their live performance at Wacken 2013, of their song “Ghost Love Score” It’s an introduction to them, but much like the band Queen, Nightwish varies their sound from song to song.

@@criticalhitsbadmisses Nightwish is a band that is always better live, and with their current singer who joined them in October 2012, they are the best version. Their concert at the 2013 Wacken festival was in front of 82,000 fans, and they were the headliner. Every song from that concert was brilliant, but most reactors start with Ghost Love Score. But I bet after that you guys will love their song “Romanticide” from the same concert. But really you can’t go wrong with any song at that show. (By the way Lovebites new album is AWESOME. )
