About panthers, my group is playing rime of the Frostmaiden and they have this bag of tricks, with which they can summon animals, and every time they roll a panther it constantly dies in different horrible ways. At least it isn't the bag of weasels. I managed to get two bags of tricks in one campaign, and one of them just keeps spawning weasels. Been loving Icewind Dale and definitely interested in watching your game. My players picked up those 3 Kobolds, Holgi, Snorp, and Zilbo from the Winter Wolves quest and recruited them and immediately asked if they could training montage to turn all 3 of them into lvl 1 adventurer understudies. So now we've got that going on. Coolest moment we've had was party got ambushed by an Abominable Yeti and one of the 3 actual PCs got paralyzed in the ambush round, and a round or 2 in to combat a second PC was frozen so it was just our Paladin and 3 Kobold interns poking at its shins. I give the Paladin a warning sign that the Yeti is gonna Cold Breath on its next turn as a chance to try and throw some weaker allies out of the way, they quickly realized it would hit them, both paralyzed PCs, and 2 of the 3 Kobolds. Likely taking them all out. What they did was so amazing, they grappled and climbed up the Yeti to grab hold of its face and passed an Intimidation check to take the Yetis attention and try to get it to shake its head in a different direction. It lifted its head to the sky and roared angrily, the Cold Breath going up and missing the party. Paladin fails the Con Save and takes like 50 damage against her remaining 30HP, leaving just the Kobolds to finish it off. But then she UNO reverse carded me and was like "Remember that snowball fight we had with that Chwinga 6 sessions ago and we got those Charms from?" and revealed to all of our surprise that she had still been holding onto that one Charm that negates all Cold damage from a single source and then heals you for half. So she was unaffected and also healed all of her wounds. She then proceeded to kill it on the next turn with a Divine Smite crit with max damage rolls. Insanity.

My wizard went full Gandelf on the Chardelyn Dragon. It was going to fly away for the final time so she Misty Steped up onto its back with her last spell slot and started whacking it with Booming Blade. Plunged her staff into its neck-back joint and blew the thing up from the inside. She didn’t even care that she was going to die (it deliberately tried to fly out of Feather Fall range) she just wanted to stop anybody else from dying, but thankfully the party was able to catch up just in time to save her at the last second

Man Rime of the Frost maiden is GREAT campaign. My only regret is that I wish I could’ve played all the way through it once. My group got too big and so I made mention that one day I would like to run this possibly switch then immediately they said hey could you do that next week because our group is too big. Anyway, I really enjoyed it! We died several times. They got to the point that we called our group the perishables and there was only two original numbers left of the five and we added a couple of new players and their first characters died and they had new characters… Yeah we deserve the title of the perishables heroes of the towns.

The second dragon (because the GM was mad we didn't run) literally just landed where the previous had died and was one age category bigger. I might've killed it had I rolled a 20, but alas - we all just died. Then he looked at us mystified, "why didn't you just run!?" BRUH we're on an open plain and we just killed it's lover / baby / whatever. It's smarter than us and can fly. WHY WOULD WE RUN!? WHERE WOULD WE GO!?

My EK was weary of a chest possibly being a mimic, so he gets the bright idea to Fire Bolt the chest. DM makes me roll an attack, I get a nat 20 and then roll near max damage like 36 or 37. The DM describes how the entire chest erupts into flames. Luckily we have a Decanter of Endless Water so we were able to quickly put the fire out and save the items inside.

A little backstory: On last Saturday I DM'd a 5E game for some friends that I made on a mobile game. They wanted to learn what me and a member of the group were talking about when we joked about the d20 not being in our favor during the game and this kind of stuff. So, I helped everyone make a level 3 character just for a oneshot, possibly a three shot. And MAN O MAAAN they were the most unhelpful team I've ever seen and BOY O BOOOY were they having fun with it. Some quotes and situations during the encounter they had with a Black Earth Priest and Guard + two thugs. The Rogue after the Fighter passed a stealth save with disadvantage: "I pick a pebble in the ground and throw in the back of the Fighter." After getting surprisedby the Black Earth Guard, the rogue assassin: "So, I leave you, who is a Fighter and can handle a fight here taking care of business and I'll get the rest of the party. I tell him they probably can hear and it's maybe best for him to stay. He laughs and say: I know, but I want him to get fucked because of some non game related stuff. The rest of the party arrives the Fighter is already half HP and asks for help for maybe the Druid and the Paladin who both have at least Healing Word, to which they reply with: Well, if you can score (on the other game) alone without passing to me or him you can cure yourself. And just let him be pommeled. And worse, the Druid casts Fog Cloud on the Fighter square to cause all of his attacks to be at disadvantage. The 4th wall was a pile of dust at this point, they were pointing out every single out of game mistake each one had as a reason to not help each other in game. Every time they would find reasons to not help each other, to the point of not using flanking rules (I allowed it because there were two rogues in the party) just because it was the Fighter who was helping. They both moved out of the way so he would not have advantage when he was hit with a Slow spell by the Black Earth Priest. The fight went for 6 FUCKING HOURS LONG. Three of them were put at 2 failed death saving throws before one of them was killed, and they just stopped messing around after 6 am when one of the players turned his TV up and they were broadcasting the Sunday Mass on one of those religious channels for old people. At the end they asked me when are we going to start our campaign because they want to Dungeon Crawl. I asked if they were okay, If they were not mad but they told me it was really fun making each other suffer every round by pilling up stress and jokes against one another. So I think it was a great experience.

Yooooo, this totally happened to me one time (the party going unconcious, not the demogorgon statue in particular), I was introducing some of my high school friends to DND in the holiday season around the end of year 10 or 11, and to keep it simple just DM'ed the only module I had to hand; 'The Sunless Citadel'. After a little bit of preliminary role playing they all eventually headed to the actual dungeon itself, and during the descent into the citadel proper there is an encounter with some dire rats on a stairwell. I was thinking to myself; "this should be perfect, a quick encounter to give the players a feel for combat", so they got to the encounter point and I asked them all to roll initiative. Anyway, the wizard (I had warned him that wizards were tricky to start out with but he was committed), rolled a nat 20 on initiative, so was up first. Being a new player, he had the stereotypical wizard turn of: "wait, what does this spell do again?" but eventually decided that colour spray was the correct option to defeat the rats. Keep in mind that as the squishiest character he was at the back of the marching order, so I told the player; "yeah, that'll probably work, but you'll hit all your teammates as well, you sure?" (this was 3rd ed colour spray). But, as is the theme with this player, he was committed. So everyone rolled fortitude saves, and by some twisted miracle, the three dire rats all succeeded, and the three other members of the party failed, even though two of them were fighters with high con and fort save bonuses. Needless to say, the wizard did not last much longer after that, and we all decided to go play some Dota instead. I still play with those guys to this day, except for the person who was playing the wizard, who moved town after school finished to go to university, and whenever somebody makes a wizard, it's something of a house rule that they have to try to colour spray the team at least once, though its never gone quite as badly as that first time.

Awesome to hear you're going to Pax Unplugged! Are you going to have a booth, or will you just be wandering the convention center? Hope you enjoy your time in Philly, and congratulations on the marriage and baby! :)

I EMJOY THESE. it blows my mind how a whole years campaign is just a 30 minute story(as i know you cut out alot of it)... unless you dont. then 15 minute story... still crazy
