how big the gap between gate and post should be so the lock will function properly?

We just installed this latch/lock - once installed we closed the gate & now can not open it. The latch is unlocked, but won't budge, so we are unable to open our gate.

Hi Lauri, Thank you for our question. Our manufacturing facility packages the LokkLatch Magnetic in the locked position. The first time the latch is unlocked some force will need to be applied with the key, until you feel it pop to unlocked position.
