Ahh aetherborns… let me tell the tale of one made manifested not of mystra’s very weave, but one liches cunningness to create a monster as equal by using the emotions that lingered within his very soul as well it’s vast amounts of aether in a attempt to create life itself. Sylence, The knowledgeable. This was our sub boss who we chased for three years to stop from consuming scrolls of mages, wizards and warlocks left behind by the founders of arcane magics and destroying said knowledge as well the libraries that held them and since she was a abhorrent mind as well erased many a casters own memories of those magics learned it made for one hell of a chase. By the time we caught up with her, she was already transferring her stolen knowledge to her lich self with expanded knowledge before dying and reabsorbed into its crystal. The bbeg took three hours cause of its legendary resistances. Only two of our five survived to destroy the lich entirely to save the livings rights to pursue magic more safely. Still a hell of a sun boss though, the setting was us chasing her through the market alleys and mind controlled citizens blocking us. Poor barbarian had to run through a lot of walls to catch up to her only for him to face yet another wall😂

That is a very creative use of the aetherborn. It works on a few levels because even if the aetherborn, survived it could never survive for long. So the knowledge was definitely going to be disposed of quickly and efficiently. I like that.

@@TheSinisterheroesour forever dm/ best friend of nearly 20 years is a diabolical genius when it comes to outside thinking, he literally was laughing his ass off when he took notes on aetherborns. Knew right away how best to utilize their traits for a purpose driven foe best used by a lich. It also didn’t help that Sylence was in every sense the more living embodiment of the lich to really deliver how much of a spiteful bastard he was in life when she used her psionic abilities to mind control others on many occasions.

This is such a fascinating race if I'm being honest I like the idea that Mystra herself gave rise to this race almost as if she is the progenitor of this race and is the patron Deity of the aetherborn and she is constantly creating this race for some reason and I love the homebrew idea that they can cast one spell for free maximum spell level equal to half their proficiency bonus to give them more of a connection to magic once per long rest since they are created from magic a really creative race with a lot of room to grow
@TheSinisterheroes4 ай бұрын
I never saw that homebrew with the spell casting before, that sounds really awesome! It might be strong buuuut considering everything else they should have 1 strong thing. That also connects really well with there lore

@@TheSinisterheroes what are your thoughts on what I said about Mystra herself creating them?
@TheSinisterheroes4 ай бұрын
I am totally with it she definitely has her own agendas. Having that sort of power I can totally see her doing it. I wish there was a warlock pact or a sorcerer that bound them selves to that.
@douglaspope-gz1eq4 ай бұрын
@@TheSinisterheroes that might be something I can homebrew in the future so when you release the Mystra lore video expect that and since my child of the weave subclass was basically a Mystra subclass this will be a warlock subclass

I am almost done with the species and the subclasses so that time will be coming

I ain't never heard of this one, but man, is that cool. Half Elves get +2, +1, +1 spread too. You couldn't go wrong with any subclasses, so I'll go with the original Beastmaster Ranger. The beast could willingly give its life for your Drain Life.

I wish they had a drain life ability. There lore is awesome, and they look like the Protoss from StarCraft which is super cool.

Yeah me too. I wish I liked the Protoss more but in og StarCraft it was all about the hydralisk rush

Never heard of this one, but if someone wanted to play a sentient golem i guess its there

It’s a great lore just wish they had that life drain

@@TheSinisterheroes id handle the life drain like the dhampir bite. Make it a melee attack and give em hp for the d4 of damage they deal proficiency bonus times per day
