Ok I'm going to be posting three different subclasses for the sorcerer, warlock and wizard based on the familiar spell in that order so here we go The familiar one bloodline sorcerer You are a Familiar one sorcerer perhaps you were transformed into your own familiar by accident or cursed to be one by a hag or maybe you were simply born as a familiar one sorcerer regardless you are forever changing in form Level 1 (for 2014) or 3 (for 2024) The body of a familiar You know the find familiar spell and it doesn't count against your spells known but when you cast it instead of summoning a familiar you become one following the rules of the spell and in your familiar form you gain the physical statistics of the creature chosen but your mental statistics remain the same and instead of gaining the creature's HP as Temp HP you gain Temp HP equal to Twice your sorcerer level and allies within 60ft of you can cast spells through you as if they were in your space and they can see through your senses as if they are in your space as an action for 1 minute When you lose the temp HP you leave your familiar form or you can leave it willingly whenever you want as an action and you can speak in this form as well allowing you to cast spells as normal Level 6 Spirit of the familiar When a allie casts a spell through you, you can spend a sorcerery point to allow them to add one of your meta magic options of their choice Level 14 The will of the familiar When you are at zero hit points one of your allies can spend a spell slot and restore your HP by an amount equal to the spell slot spent times your charisma mod on their turn as a bonus action provide they are within 30ft Level 18 Full potential You have reached your full potential as a familiar one sorcerer when someone casts a spell through you you can now spend a spell slot equal to the spells level or greater instead of your allies expending spell slots allowing your allies greater power without spending resources themselves

I'm actually playing a kobold in my next campaign. I choose the Celebrity Scion background and worked out with the DM that I'm a direct Decendent of Deekin Scalesinger. In this version of Faerun the Scalesingers have been using Deekin's fame to advocate for kobold integration into greater society. Even paying those who clear out problem kobold tribes to bring back their eggs and raise them in Scalesinger tribe groups or temples. In an effort to live up to his lineage, my guy found the bottle used in Hoards of the Underdark to call on the Merchant Dijjin and formed a warlocks pact with him. Now he's been volen-told to go on the investigation into Cult of the Dragon activities.. Thou my guy would claim he would go anyway due to rumors they may be forcing kobold tribes to join them.

Plan on playing as an anti hero Blue Dragonborn(Draxiros), path of the Beast Barbarian, he seeks to kill the Red Dragon Blelondru for the death of his father, a very powerful Soldier named Dracuus, but before he does so, he is tasked to obtain a weapon(s) that’ll be given to him by a close friend of his father’s and Blelondru’s nemesis, a Lawful Neutral-Good Female Chromatic Blue Dragon named Sivilith who crafted a Greataxe/2 Battle Axes out of a Sapphire given to her by Dracuus, a few months/years before his death, as a sign of their friendship, with the new weapon(s), it would feel like his father and Sivilith are fighting alongside him

Great video. I find your internal struggle inspirational. I will say that your perspective on Good is somewhat Kantian as in the goodness of an action is determined by the morality of the action. That is hard indeed. I have been working on a LG Death Cleric. I have three pages background so far but the short of it is she comes from a really rough area where the law needed to be enforced strictly. She is a cleric of Kelemvor and in her native society these clerics were in charge of passing and executing death penalties. She was taught this was necessary for the stability and flourishing of the community. She is, what I call, a death judge. For her Good isn’t action based but rather outcome based. You can judge and kill another if it strengthens the stability and flourishing of the community. The community is the point and justification of the law and the determinant of the good. What I like about it is that often in campaigns you don’t know what action equals a good outcome. You can make mistakes and struggle. It also allows party members to convince you that an action will be good in the long run even if it doesn’t seem so now. It opens the door to moral debates. Sorry for the long comment. Just wanted to share some inspiration. Keep rocking sinister.

The Wand of Orcus is pretty much the same in 2024. Also Orcus feels like one of those BBEGs that seem like an impossible encounter without significant otherworldly help imo. With his Wand, he can just conjure up liches, death knights, mummy lords, dracoliches, etc to throw at the party. And if he's in his lair, you have hordes of undead, his lair actions, and probably the toxic environment itself to deal with. And given how hostile Thanatos is just from the environment and undead hordes alone, it's easy to whittle at least one PC down to Power Word Kill range. I would say the best approach is to have Orcus do his usual thing of sending the Wand out, allow the party the opportunity to take it, and have them go on the quest to destroy it. And destroying it is no easy feat because you have to resurrect the long-lost hero whose skull was used for the Wand (and Orcus has the hero's soul locked up somewhere, so the party will almost definitely have to go into Thanatos anyway), and have said hero take the Wand into the Positive Plane where it will be destroyed. Orcus is obviously going to catch onto this and send his minions to try to stop the party every step of the way. After that, I'd do something similar to the One Ring and have the Wand's permanent destruction significantly weaken Orcus enough that the party actually has a chance against the demon himself. But even if the party succeeds in doing all this and slaying Orcus, it may or may not be a bittersweet victory because that eliminates one of Demogorgon's main rivals, and Kiaransalee would certainly seize the opportunity to take over Thanatos again. You could even have someone like Kiaransalee be the help the party needs for destroying the Wand in the first place.

You could have gone some beasts you'd advice after level 8 or Elementals once they become available. I don't think shapeshifting Druids are viable at medium to higher levels, as the selection of Beasts becomes so thin at that point

I try to get the player to tell my what their plans are at the end of each session. That way I have some idea on what to plan so I don't have to take everything into account. Sometimes I do a little railroading, but the players get to choose what "tracks" they are on. I also make sure that the main story always is moving along, with or without the PCs. So the PC choosing to go on a side quest doesn't stop the villains executing their evil plans meanwhile.

What is with the hate for gnomes? Is one of my favorite race with fairies, goliaths and half elfs. I think the issue is that some people play gnomes as if they were goblins. My current pc is a grumpy lawful neutral twilight domain deep gnome cleric that needs to be the mini dad for a party full of "chaotic neutral" pcs. I like Deep gnomes because they are like less ugly dwarves (sorry, i hate beards) that are more magical.

Hello Dan, the volume of your videos is much lower than others I listen to. You may want to place a microphone closer to you or use a bluetooth microphone to make things easier to hear. I really only notice though because I place the videos I watch into a playlist & let those play in full. Both videos on either side were dramatically more clear because the gain appeared to be set higher.

The trick to good railroading is making sure the players choices feel both meaningful & impactful. Prioritizing players first & then story second, makes for good railroading because the story/session/campaign has to end eventually.

Railroad is negative because it is seen as taking away choice from players but it makes it easier on a dm especially a new dm. Most players prefer sandbox because it gives the most options for players. I’ve sandboxed the Avernus area in Descent into Avernus and all of my players are enjoying it. I have to admit that sandboxing puts more work on me with having a lot of possible options to prep for. Even though it’s harder I still prefer sandboxing because it makes the world that I’ve designed feel more alive.

All I can say about this subclass is how this could work better if given the “Nyxborn” gift from Mythic Odysseys of Theros, along with the “Shadow Touched” feat.

Mechanically speaking, I’d use the “Nyxborn” gift from Mythic Odysseys of Theros. As for the race, my best options would be a Drow or a Duergar.

Ok so I'm well aware that Orcus wants the title of price of demons and i have no doubt in my mind that he can eventually get that title because let's face it every demon wants the title prince of demons since it's physical tangible power and the title of prince of demons has some strange effects on the holder of the title since Demogorgon is quite literally insane but also extremely intelligent i wonder if that would be passed down to orcus and if Orcus were to obtain that title every demon would swarm him in order to get that title but i doubt that he would be defeated by anyone else outside the big three of the abyss and Demogorgon is literally the only one stopping Orcus from getting that title and me personally i would rather fight Orcus than Demogorgon because Orcus is actually feasible in comparison to the powerhouse that is the prince of demons
