D-Day 80th Anniversary with Standing with Giants

Thank you so much for this, Simon. My uncle is one of these giants. Signalman Walter Frederick Hodges, 20 Beach Sig. Section. He died aged 25 on 6 June 1944 after being fatally wounded. Son of Mr and Mrs W.F. Hodges of Canonbury, London. Brother of Rose and Eric. Remembered with honour and gratitude. One of many with no known grave, he is also commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial.

Fair enough, I was doing this as a favour for the Standing with Giants team who wanted a bit of record of the installation. It was only my second time out with the drone, the first being my earlier visit. I will be watching your restored footage, very impressive work!

I had permission to fly organised by the Normandy Memorial so luckily I was ok. I am more than happy for you to use as much of my footage as you like. 😇

The HOG “Harley Davidson Owners Group” escorted the stillages containing the silhouettes from the UK to Normandy so felt they played their bit.

BTW .... I attended the Normandy 75 year , there was a C-47 special at the airport nearby Omaha Beach ..we stayed there for 3 days ..was great and sad at the same time ....strange feeling of Freedom on that beach
