Dan Likos turns the unit 30 degrees after they take their action. Saves using the “Action Taken” counter. Smart.

Nice video and good explanations. Well done. During the Amphibious Operations Phase, a unit can only lose one step. Units that drift are not affected by landing checks in the boxes they drift to (5.10). Units in beach hexes can make Preservation moves even if they landed on an earlier turn. A couple of things that I believe you mentioned but then slipped your mind: 32:10 You can't move through those Intense fire hexes since the Japanese unit in the yellow position isn't disrupted. 36:30 FL=Flanking Requirement, FT= Flame Thrower

Hi SIrbrastias - many thanks for the comments (you're right about me forgetting about moving into intense fire!). Don't wander too far because I'm sure I'm going to need your advice again!! 👍

@32:10 I believe A/1/5 would have to stop in hex 0321 because that is an intense fire hex for an occupied position (in this case it's the yellow position group B8 and B9). Since position groups are considered occupied if at least one of the positions in the group is occupied and undisrupted, all those yellow fire dots are active. So basically you should have just done the preservation move instead of using the "paid" action. @36:50 FL is Flanking not Flamethrower (which is FT). It doesn't change the outcome of the combat but might have if you'd used both your actions to have the attack from two non-adjacent hexes (i.e. the amphib tank).

Love it! - I'm still learning the game on my side - Your 1st Attack you state that it need an attack action to participate to the attack - Dont the Hero give Free Action to some unites around him or I mix with HQ...
@RoughSwordsmanWargamer3 жыл бұрын
Hi, if I remember correctly, Heroes only give a free action to the unit it is stacked with (and that unit was disrupted). Regimental HQs give free actions to units in adjacent hexes.

Forgive my ignorance, but as you mentioned at the beginning of the video with the card layout and the targeting symbol, as your first card drawn was a Triangle, your tank in Orange 1 wouldn't have been hit would it? As that didn't match the triangle symbol?
@RoughSwordsmanWargamer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kyle, units in hexes with 'Intense Fire' (solid circles) are hit regardless of their type or Target Symbol. So even though the triangle didn't match, the colour did so it hits the tank.

Ahhh yes of course. I didn't realise you were in an intense hex. My bad :)

@Kyle Holmes No problem Kyle! 🙂

That hex have Intense Fire dots, so the symbol does not matter.

The last of the John Butterfield games in the “At D Day” series. “Iwo” and “Saipan” were designed (and I used that term loosely) by Joe Youst and he totally screwed them up. Avoid any game with the notation “Designer Joe Youst” on it.

Hi, always nice to get a comment from you but they are always negative. We all know that JY DDay games aren't received as well as JB's!

Great video! Might I suggest placing your text explanations on a solid colored background? I had a very hard time reading any of them.
