I think your shirt made you the “Target for Tonight” with all the comments. Great review!

I just bought this game. I normally play very dense hex games, but sometimes I just need a good narrative game to relax my mind. This game is super detailed tho and keeps me interested every move. I am always looking forward to the next chart. The game board and pieces are very nice too. Great game! Your review makes me like it even more. Your enthusiasm is infectious🤩

Alexander, another great video. Thank you for taking your time to share this with us. Some chaps are talking about your shirt, even writing "flak damage." If I could add to the shirt comments, I would have to say it (the shirt ) looks like what the Luftwaffe Radar Intercept officer would see on his monitor when "Window" was flittering down from above. 😂 One more thing, has anybody mentioned playing this game as a group of 6 or 7 "crewmen?" One as the pilot, radioman, engineer, etc. This might work for one night of playing. Each player would make the dice rolls pertaining to his position. Anyway, just a thought. Cheers!😊

My Understanding is that at WBC they have a big event with 30 odd players and I they each fly their own planes so it's a whole bomber squadron, which whilst different from a crew gives some of that similar feel. They have a GM who plays Bomber Command who plans the raids and keeps the game moving from zone to zone etc. They do that for B-17 Queen of the Skies, but no reason you couldn't organize something like that for this.

Great review and thanks for doing it! I have both games and you've re-awakened my interest in them...particularly Target for Tonight. I had no idea that the loss rate in Bomber Command was second ONLY to the loss rate of U Boat crews, and my jaw dropped when I read that. Many years ago when I was a kid, my dad (a USAF pilot) was on exchange duty with RAF Strike Command and I got to meet a number of RAF officers who had been in Bomber Command during WWII. Knowing what I know now, I'm even more in awe of those men!

Glad to hear that you can mix Target For Tonight and Target For Today and fly Avro Lancaster’s etc during the day (or even B-17s at night). The former certainly DID happen - in my Dad’s tour of duty he flew 13 DAYLIGHT missions out of 30 combat missions in Avro Lancasters in mid to late 1944. For the RAF overall roughly 22.5% of Bomber Command missions were daylight raids (mainly late war, once the Allies had air superiority). I wrote up my Dad's experiences here - members.optusnet.com.au/dacoutts/Thirty_missions_John_Coutts.htm

You'd be right to avoid Stirlings and even Halifaxes. Although the differences with Lancasters may have been marginal on paper, they were invariably that little bit slower and a little bit lower than the Lancs. This meant that they were the first in line for spotting by searchlights, flak, and fighters. As a result they suffered horrendous casualties. Just been reading Martin Middlebrook's 'The Berlin Raids' which has driven that home. Many thanks for the vid looks like a great game.

I have this game and I'm totally on board with Alexander. I'm flying the 14th mission on the current campaign, only about half the crew is on the 14 th, others vary as they have replaced dead crewmen. I use an A4 notebook now instead of the supplied forms, it flows better that way.

One of your best performances yet 😎! 2 questions: a) how does it compare to "Enemy Coast Ahead"? b) would you recommend to play TFToday before TFTonight?
@ThePlayersAid4 жыл бұрын
a) Gameplay is very different, there's a lot more build up in ECA, planning, training etc, and whilst it does tell a great story as well there's probably more decision making and some great tactical choices. For what it's worth, I own both and will not be getting rid of either any time soon. b) I would not recommend TFT before TFTN. You can start with either, no big deal.

Alexander, so if both games were British bombers, which one would you prefer?
@ThePlayersAid4 жыл бұрын
Maybe this one, only because the combats are a little smaller (only ever one plane at a time, but can be multiple attacking waves). And that means the missions are a little shorter so making campaign progress feels a bit better. But honestly I'd be nit picking.

Not explicitly, It's just the planes and bomber command, so you can pick your own names and squadrons to be Canadian etc. It differs from TfT in that way (TfT had specific assignments etc).

I played it straight out of the box. Nothing extra. It's rare we do extras for new games. If they're not playable out of the box then it's not worth our time. I had a great time with this, as is. Not sure how it's "not playable".

I might give this one a whirl. It's a bit pricey but I poured hundreds of hours into Patton's Best, which is the same sort of ilk so I'd probably get my moneys worth.
