Just want to mention that 3,000 Australians were involved in the Normandy landings, with a further 2,500 of them being instrumental in the airborne attacks that laid the groundwork for the amphibious invasion to take place - this is despite being at the mercy of their own battles on the Pacific front and being bombed by the Japanese. It is out of respect that even though they didn't form a bulk of the operation, they were still involved and deserve at least some recognition rather than none at all.

Omaha beach: despite incredible planning, most elements of the plan completely failed. The battle was won by incredibly brave pockets of soldiers WITHOUT 1) cratered beaches for hiding 2) knocked out defenses 3) tanks successfully getting onto the beaches to support the troops and clear the paths off the beach. 4) Many soldiers didn't land where they were supposed to be and 5) many found themselves with strangers instead of guys they had trained with. The plan was a mess but the MEN fought on. So brave

@@charlieh3510 Brah, the GOP did FDR a favor by delaying our entry into the war. If we got in when FDR wanted 2-3 years early, the public would have turned against the war due to climbing U.S. causualties, but that's another story. We're not capable of winning any protracted war because public opinion on war always turns the longer we go on. The Soviets definitely won the War in Europe because it's whoever got to Hitler first in Berlin that won the war. Once Hitler was dead, there was no more fighting from the Nazis. The Nazis were just surrendering to us after that to avoid being executed by the Soviets. And basically, the Soviets didn't need our help to defeat Hitler because he made the fatal error to try to invade Russia during the dead of winter. Who cares about France and Italy? The key to winning the War in Europe was taking down Hitler in Berlin.

What I've read is that Operation Torch (invasion of north Africa) was done less as a strategic imperative than to placate Stalin by opening a second front and taking some of the heat off the Soviet Union. Preparations for Operation Overlord weren't ready until 1944. Then again, I wasn't born yet...

Propaganda has always led us to believe that we, "The Yankees", beat Hitler. But, I have news for you: The US did not win the war against Germany. The Russians won it. The Allied Army of the US, UK, Canada, Belgium and France (and Poland, and other countries), was able to reach Normandy, thanks to the Soviets destroying the Nazis in Stalingrad, Leningrad and in Kurks, in 1943. It took them 289 days but the Russians won and without the help of nobody… OF NOBODY! Normandy was until June 1944, and Mr. “Hollywood” Patton did NOT manage to set foot on Germany until January 1945, when the Red Army was going over Berlin. General Patton was able to enter Germany only when the Russians were 180 kilometers from the Oder River (LOL). The Allies were defeated at Arnhem (Market Garden Sep. 25-1944), and at The Battle of the Bulge (Jan. 25-1945). General Patton was paralyzed without fuel, while the Red Army was preparing for its last offensive. Look: It took the Allies 8 months to advance only 550 kilometers from Normandy to Arnhem, and from there, start the Withdrawal to the border of France (What?), facing a virtually defeated German Army cuz USSR. Well… The US has been defeated in Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, Lebanon, Somalia and now, in Afghanistan. However, the powerful US Army defeated the tiny island of Grenada, as it faced a fearsome army of 287 Police Officers, since Grenada does NOT have an army. In fact, they were half this number, since the Policemen on the afternoon shift had not yet come to work. What seems incredible is the fact that the US was defeated by Vietnam. What? Did the US lose the war against Nam? OMG! Against a poor country, underdeveloped, malnourished, without Navy, without Air Force, NO Marines, Green Berets, SEALs, Rangers, Delta Force, USMC, Rambos or Chuck Norris. Defeated by a country of peasants without strategic plans, no B-59 Bombers, PT-Boats, Atomic Submarines, without Aircraft Carriers, NO Continental Missiles, nor Tanks, Choppters, AR-15, Gatlin Machins, Flamethrowers, Napalm, Agent Orange... and to top it off, defeated by an army of teenagers who had no shoes… WITHOUT SHOES!!! Army that fought with bamboo sticks!!! Charlie Kicked Our Asses and even invaded our Embassy.

Remember that the Eastern Front was responsible for Normandy invasion to be possible. In the west we get told a version of history that excludes the fact that the Soviet Union was allies in the same sense that the United States was Allied with great britain. It was an effort on both ends of the spectrum. It was the only way that such a thing could be possible. Which is the reason that the Soviet Union rightly takes a lot of pride in their victory
@nicholasbt4863

This is really interesting. I've given it a like, but I think you need some French language lessons! You manage to pronounce Calais, Cherbourg, Caen, and Provence completely wrong, which I'm afraid undermines your video somewhat. Also, your maps could acknowledge that the Allies had conquered half of Italy by D-Day, rather than leaving the whole of Italy red. I'm trying to be helpful. I really like the style and tone of this. Its just these little mistakes undermine the whole thing unfortunately. If you could correct these it'd be great.

It wasn't russia that third reich invaded, it was entirety of the USSR, either in practice, in name or in map, which shows just russia indeed for some reason. Weirdness overload.

It was an allied effort. In any case, historians believe the war wouldve been won without US input.

They need to improve their maps, the borders are always wrong and that kinda makes me sad since this channel has great potential. I hope they make better maps in the future, they got everything to blow up!

Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world. He died for the people that you hate, the people that are neglected daily, the people that are abusing drugs, he died for murderers, thieves, homosexuals, people that cheat on their partners, people that falsely accuse others, and more. Jesus is the only way to heaven. Anything else is a deception. With Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, He set an example for us. We now work out our salvation by changing the way that we live by imitating Christ. We are called to no longer live in sin, but fight against it for the rest of our lives with the help of Jesus
