4:20 they werent “anti-socialist” they were anti-communist. Hitler in particular, he was socialist, hence his party of “national socialism”. They opposed “international socialism” ie communism. Even the video said mussolini was a lifelong socialist who tweaked it into fascism, very similar. Both on the left.

Fun fact: Spain didn’t really join the war, but they did send troops for volunteers to Germany, most were sent to the eastern front, they also had the same outfits as Germany but instead of the swastika on the helmets they had the Spanish flag.

Growing up in the 2000’s, I really didn’t understand the stakes that WW2 had on the world. This video really puts into perspective how stressful this must’ve been especially for the nation’s leaders knowing that the axis powers didn’t just want land, but wanted to take over the world. I think the way history is taught can be confusing in general; we break it up by eras and talk about in these chopped up blocks, but not enough is really done to also help us understand that these individual blocks are more like dominos when strung altogether. Even though these videos are also about specific eras or events, Over takes time to help us visualize the sequence of events leading up to the Big Event being covered. I think history education needs more visuals. Personally, I love a good timeline, really helps my brain understand the amount of time passing, etc.
