While the US was maintaining a "Neutral" position, she was churning out ships, tanks, trucks, aircraft, guns and ammo for the rest of the allies. The US had no large army. So she trained two. And Sailors, Marines and Airmen. American Merchant Marines suffered more casualties than some line combat units trying to keep supplies coming. Then when US troops did arrive, where did they go? North Africa, Europe, Asia? Yes... How many were involved with the D-day invasion? Could it have been accomplished if they didn't show up? Crossing interlocking machinegun fire requires what...lots of cannon fodder? When America showed up for WWII there were about 132 million Americans. About 90% were Christian and the guys on the beaches getting shot up with you had wives and mothers at home making guns and aircraft. The brought something else onto those beaches with them the prayers of everyone who wasn't over there with you. They were praying for all of you, not just their boys. They came in late? They supported you guys while they trained and built a war machine from scratch. Could you have won the war without them? Maybe, who is to say? Maybe some of those who say they were late wouldn't have even been born. Maybe they would be saying in in German. Who cares? The US provided 8 million meals per day to the Soviets for the entire duration of the war. Were the tanks, aircraft, ships and guns the US provided better or as good? Who cares? Did any Americans soak up German made bullets on those beaches that a Brit might have taken instead? Who cares, they came. Were they late or did they come just when you needed them there? Call them whatever you want, you won. You can say it in English, French, Polish, Chinese or whatever language you speak. What good did it do anyway? Looking at the world now I doubt anything like D-day will be seen again. But if you really need help again I'm fairly sure Americans will show up again. Maybe late. Definitely loud and crude. But they will wade in with you.

@@klpittman1 no that is my point i dont think we would have been successful at D day without the americans and we are lucky you came and waded in, but leading up to this we were already knee deep in war across europe where many of our men passed and we recieved no help from our friends across the water.. the war could of ended earlier had you joined earlier and we would of suffered less, we as a nation jump to other nations aid straight away if needed but we would never bet the house on america to help until its almost too late as history proves, we are greatful for you though and we have statues and murals all over the country for you as in the end it was a good team effort to stand against the nazi rule, it feels personal that you didnt join earlier though..

You're not wrong on all. But wrong on 2 very important facts. The retaliation on Japan that made them surrender was years after the start of this war. The U.S was trying not to get dragged into this one. The attack at Pearal Harbour is what brought the U.S into this and unleashing an unretaliated hell. Japan invaded China and committed the worst was crimes ever. Once they played with the U.S..Japan surrendered less than 48 hours Later. 2nd point. Canada..you forgot to mention them. They played a huge roll in this. They Deserve thier respect on this one.

My great uncle fought in the omaha beach my grandpa told me that when he landed in the beach he ran untill he saw a big hole and stayed there for 2 minutes and fired at the enemy forces killing 6 germans. When the tanks arrived he used the tanks as cover and fired at the germans and charging at the enemy bunker and threw a grenade. His friend got shot and continued to fight to the end while getting fired by guns and capturing the beach

Fun Fact: The Americans landing at Omaha has some soldiers from the 2nd Rangers Battalion, but some Boats that was supposed to land at Omaha with the 2nd Rangers landed at some wrong Sectors, this is due to doggy weather and bad weather, which make some 2nd Rangers landed in some Sector that wasnt supposed to be landed, but Omaha was succes fully taken by the Allies

My dad made it thru this horrible war. But he renlisted after the war, and join again to be stuck with Korean war. He was staying in for a career, but my mom said next war you won't make it, . I personally join the join the army for Vietnam. Horrible mistake i made but did it.

D Day was historic. But it came about a year late if you wanna say it changed the course of WW2. By June 44 the Russians had already broken the back of the German army.

So what do you think stopped all of western Europe being overrun by the Russians? And that if the Germans hadn't been fighting in western Europe they may have been able to fight back the Russians? It works both ways.

The Soviets were getting to Berlin either way. This at least took resources away from the Eastern Front and got the Germans surrounded. We grew up hearing it was the major factor in defeat but really it was all aspects of the war.
