Napom goes from beat to beat: judges love it. Dilip goes from beat to beat: judges say structure needs work
@marshallrankin16811 ай бұрын
Exactly, I’m so confused by this. Idk how Napom got 2nd with that
@icarusix875011 ай бұрын
He did say that the structure of both was mediocre, around 15:00 min in, but that Napom's crowd control/control of energy was better and made the mediocre structure effect the performance less, or something along those lines
@zaclaplant300111 ай бұрын
@@icarusix8750 I don't mean in just this particular video. I was using that as a reference since it was clear as night and day, but it's been an issue for the better part of 5 years. I left a comment on another video regarding Dilip's theme. SBX treats the theme and structure as though they're the same, when they're not mutually exclusive (necessarily). Structure is the technical detail as to how the piece is composed overall, self explained. Theme is not. A musical theme can be many things. It can be a musical story, a mood or transition of moods, an overall sound pack and sound design, etc To give a better explanation of "theme".... If I were to make a mashup of many songs, it would be difficult to go from DeadMou5, to Jonny Cash, to Five Finger Death Punch, to 20's swing, to Bulgarian Folk music. All of those songs have structure and I can piece their structures together flawlessly and still it's nearly impossible to listen to because there's no overall theme. DLow always talks about theme/structure as though they're the same and always talks about how Dilip's theme/structure needs work... But the thing about Dilip is that his specific Theme INCLUDES a lack of or loose structure (along with other factors). That's his style and his sound by artistic preference. If Dilip were to make a track out of beatbox, it simply wouldn't be "Dilip"... Like it was forced out of him These are, after all, battles of beats. I admire beatboxers that make full tracks like Gene, Napom, Den, ShoGo, etc. as they are specifically made for casual listening. A beatbox battle is meant to battle and showcase beat ideas. No, I would not sit and casually listen to Dilip... But he's still one of the highest ranking beatboxers in this event, in my book. Edit: based on the way certain comments read, it sounds like Dilip won, which is great and all... But "structure" on the scorecard needs to be replaced with "theme" and "theme" needs to be redefined by SBX's standards. That would negate all this confusion.
