I lost you for a few years. So good to see you doing what we love. I'm a bassist of similar vintage as you, and I'm still involved in many gigs here in lower Cali. Been playing since '68; I'll be 74 in 2 months.

Don’t age me prematurely! I’m “only” 65! 😂

Love how those pickups are placed further towards the bridge. Great sounding bass.

The back side of the head stock is a nice detail!

Wow that bass sounds spectacular man! The bridge pickup is so aggressive!!

It’s definitely aggressive. You can fatten it up with the preamp, but it adds a lot of bite to the overall character.

Great review! 😊 You're absolutely right when it comes to the pickup placement. The ratio of the pickup distances is equal to that of a 70s jazz bass, about 0.36, but everything pushed back towards the bridge. That gives the same scoop you would expect but at a higher frequency compared to a standard J. And this suits the B string very well. 😊

I also really like the sound of the neck pickup in that position.
@lumpinator25 күн бұрын
@BassWhispererTV it's actually equal to the position of a Rickenbacker's bridge pickup. Right on 1/8th of the scale length. I really like that position too. :)

@@lumpinator I didn’t know that, I find the bridge pick up a little close for solo work, but it’s a great blend.

Absolutely lovely. I lean towards slightly more neck pup / slightly less bridge tones. Is it a heavy instrument ?
@BassWhispererTV22 күн бұрын
Not particularly, it’s a stated 9 pounds. I don’t have a scale here, but that feels about right.

@@BassWhispererTV8 or 9 lbs is perfect for me. Might be a while before we see them in the UK though 🤔

Great review! Thanks for the description of the string spacing. I don't care for 19mm spacing and am quite used to the Musicman 17.5mm spacing. Given the taper at the nut, does it "feel" like 18mm or 17.5mm as you play toward that end of the neck? I realize this might be hard to determine and describe. BTW - NOT triggered! :-)

Great sounding bass! I'll have to look into that company. Definitely an aggressive more modern sound than I am used to. Do they make basses with more traditional pickup spacing?
@BassWhispererTV22 күн бұрын
Yes, they have a standard JB type model, and they also make some models with larger format pick ups, like the Omega 6 I demoed last month.

Trigger warning slap!!! 😂 Great review! I love aggressive j-basses. One question. Is a 10k treble control even that useful?
