If ever interested, Mike...I have the tab books for the first 2 Faster Pussycat albums. Not sure if it's 'bad tab'...but you're welcome to borrow

Always great to see another bad tab upload. I love this series the most. I think I rewatched the metallica tab videos like 20 times at this point 😅

Wow thank you so much!!! Glad you like the series. It’s one of my favorites to make as well.

My favourite overkill album! I think you should try and write a song incorporating all the weird, incorrect techniques in these old tab books.

Yes a new bad tab video to start the holiday break? Hell yes. Rock on and have a happy holiday.

Bobby Gustafson, the guitarist from this album, needs to see this and confirm or correct what you figured out.

Hey Mike, big fan of the channel. I love seeing the bad tab books you do and I wanted to share you one that I own of my favorite band of all time, Alice in Chains. Now, I am pretty sure I have all of them as I have the ones for Facelift, Dirt, Sap & Jar of Flies (which are booked together), Self Titled, and the Nothing Safe Greatist Hits album. Now, the one for Dirt has some huge wtf errors that are baffling, and I think you'd get a kick out of seeing them. For example, the ending of "Would?" You get this big D5 shape (Db since it's tuned a half step down) and then it goes into a 7#9 chord. It leaves that out and makes it just a D major chord. The same 7#9 is also used as the final part with the final lyrics "If I would, could you?" Part, but, it has it listed as these weird F chords that make no sense at all. Sickman also has a glaring error at the bridge part where it slows down and Jerry is playing these softer arpeggios. There is a part where there is supposed to be a F# major played (Again it'd be F since half step down) But, they accidentally made it and Fmajor#4 chord, having the Tritone in it, likely a misprint There is even spelling mistakes where on Down in a Hole, they label the Acoustic guitar as "Acaustic"

Bad tabs is what stopped me from actually learning the guitar back in the day. It's defeating to try and play some of these things they suggest. Now I'm learning guitar, drums and bass all at the same time. But now, I play by feel while playing along to some music. If there's something that interests me that I hear, I learn that specific thing, and expand on that within my own style of playing. To think that i used to be able to play the tenor saxophone while sight reading. One of these days, I'll learn the actual notes on the guitar. It would be nice to be able to hear something, and understand what key it is in without having to figure out which notes work each time. I haven't heard any Overkill since the 80's... I wonder how many people have tab PTSD with * anxiety from these books.

$700?! Too bad I don't have this book but I do have quite a few old tab books. I should check to see if any of them are going for that kind of money. But yeah, this album was one of the 2 first CD's I owned. Such a great album. No surprise though that the tab book is bad. Oh and nice Buffy logo on your SG!
@Rolli666911 сағат бұрын
I have always assumed the bass parts are there so bass players can use the guitar tab to learn too. And they would add the "standout" bass parts in the tab like you see. Also I would love you to check out some Slayer tabs. Because I think "Seasons in the Abyss" was one of the best tab books around and I'm sure most Slayer tabs were fairly correct.

Mike, great series. Tab books are fun to collect. Had Duff McKagans first album Believe in me on tab. It’s going for $500 or something obscene. Could you do something on GNR tabs?

Carcass - Best of Bandscore (published in Japan) always sells for zillions on eBay. I’ve been on a lookout for years hoping for a decent price.

Really shows how one guitarist/songwriter affects the band and its future. All the killer riffing and energy had them destined for the thrash elite. No Bobby G and relegated to a cult following of in comparison 1000 people.
Exactly! There wasn't 2 guitarists until the next album after Bobby got fired. And, the band was never the same...
@mikerauter185910 сағат бұрын
@@rhoadsvnivekthey fired the wrong Bobby. Ellsworth has alienated thousands with his hysterical vocals where Gustafson brought in thousands with his riffing and soloing, now in the fullness of time, it's blindingly obvious.

Maybe your Bad Tab video series has created a huge demand for these books causing the higher prices. Lol

That's one expensive tab book! I saw that there is a tab book for the Crow soundtrack, maybe if the tabs are bad enough you can do one of these videos for it! lol

I wish you would compare the tab books we could buy in the US against the ones found in Japan. I find the Japanese books to be more accurate.

I've been having my own bad tab battle trying to learn Rock 'n' Roll Singer (AC/DC) because I couldn't find a readable and correct tab for the lead (Angus') part. They aren't impossibly wrong like these tab books, but still annoying for someone who isn't good at transcribing. I'm still missing the start of the outro solo because it's fast and too low in the mix for my bad ears to work out, but at least the solos now sound like an attempt to match them.

Bad tab books taught me three things: 1) With enough persistency one may learn some of those strangely tabbed out parts and have increased capability as a player. 2) Don't trust everything you read in print 3) Musicians writing notation were (are?) not usually metalheads and/or did not understand the significance of tab for less schooled players.

I made a fair chunk of change in the early to mid 2000s finding and reselling old guitar tablature books from the 80s and early 90s. This was in Amazon’s infancy and I could find them on Amazon, AbeBooks and other book selling sites for 10-30 bucks and flip them for 100s. In 2005-2006 I bought out a shit ton of them from Willis Music’s Cincinnati warehouse. They aren’t as easy to find now I wish I still had access to that hustle.
