Slightly related, I just had to share this TH doujin work on the Prismrivers (Danbooru warning, be sure to have adblock ready on the ads): danbooru.donmai.us/pools/7902 The story follows the hardship and tragedies of Layla Prismriver and her sisters, along with Auntie Mima whom provides support towards the said sisters. It's been a long while since I've shed a tear towards a TH doujin work, and needless to say, it is a very memorable one to me (wish I could take this story as cannon).. Anyhow, for those who haven't read it yet, enjoy ~

Assuming each album has about 10 tracks, there would be 60 of their songs here, so I won't go through the effort of linking stuff on this reply now (Although there still would be a lot of other pieces of music outside of this circle, for one a lot of their music is on other circles, and some of them aren't even in any album in the first place and were made prior to Xenoglossy's existence such as Piano Concerto No 666.)

What exactly is this style of piano playing called? I'd like to capture a similar tone and beat for a boss fight in a game I'm developing.

i really don't know, but this seems to be (stylistically), a series of improvisations over the original motif. it has some specks of latin piano around 02:40. for similars maybe bakeneko or marasy would be good leads (obviously, also this same touhou piano channel). though it's piano its not exactly classical but closer to contemporary game emotional BGM music. hope it helps a bit.
