Tokyo is simply magnificent. So much infrastructure and buildings in tight areas making the city super compact. Tokyo is the urban and architectural marvel. A model world city.

Good question!According to my sources the main point is increasing average speed. Yurikamome runs over the canal and the highway grade separation so that the course is so undulating and stations are located close each other. So we need tires which are better than rails when it comes to acceleration and braking. Of course noise reduction could be a contributing facotor of choosing tires! Yurikamome is so gentle on ears for the neighborhood!
