Thank you, I usually used the stainless boating clips that open to the front using a long clip and found that it was hard to open consistantly with gloves, causing me to stop using clips. I will now try these styles. Your instruction on this simple but important topic was very well done and informative.

Totally different direction from me, My old rig was not unlike your set up... I switched to a vest BC 15-20 yrs ago and with it a whole host of better solutions with it. In my world all those clips are nothing more than fishline snags.Lighting, I use two on shoulders (one on each pointed skyward) anchored by plastic clips - safety is a loose zip tie. I have inside arm sleave for a fishline ripper, Spare reg set up is with velcro... everywhere. (very easy to repair) I use carabiners (not locking) for tool bag if needed, net if needed, Aqua sun if needed, netbag if needed. I couldn't use those little clips after 10 mins in my local area with out gloves 3/8" or 1/2" always.

Thanks for sharing. Can you do a video on weight belts? My weight belt is sort of in the way for my line cutter (weist belt knife) but I want it to be ditchable for now. Thanks
@fredrik.larsen
@fredrik.larsen 4 жыл бұрын
A late update here in case anyone cares: With more experience I now do _not_ want my weight belt to be ditchable unless I explicitly attempt to do so. I.e. I put my weight belt on before the harness. That way if the weight buckle opens by accident, the crotch strap will catch it and I can re-fasten it. It is not difficult to ditch the weights if necessary if you have to. I often do it before entering a boat.

Hy Achim! I saw that your long hose tucked underneath your harnes probably because in this case you don’t have the torch battery attached. Do you think in this case this solution is better or a “fake torch battery” like apeks has the hose retainer. I’m talking about recreational diving obviously when the torch with battery not necessary. Thank you for your answer

Hi Achim I just watched your video on how you attach your gear to your harnes I noticed you threw the locking climbing carbiinder in the trash pointing out it corrodes and has no use on dive gear True in Salt water I am mainly in fresh water When I am cutting netting out of a fishing vessel propeller and there is a current in the lake I rig a line from the boat and clip a carabiner on the crotch strap d ring so I don't drift further back than the propeller I also have a webing strap attached to my back plate in the middle behind my head about 18 inches long with a loop inthe end It comes over my left shoulder thru a separate loop beside my inflation hose All the fish boats have cranes on them After I get done clearing the propeller and I am on the surface I take the strap out from under the shock cord hook the carabiner to the strap and the hiab crane make sure it is clear and they lift me straight out of the water and on to the deck Is there any way I could send you a picture? Have a great day! I r

I’m really surprised to see the gates of any of the snaps facing out. I am obsessive about the gates facing in because of my history with horses = all snaps around horses (buckets, blankets, leads, etc) face in so that these is less chance of getting clipped accidentally to something unintended. It seems like this would be a good safety measure for divers, too.
@diveinstructordaniel1095
@diveinstructordaniel1095 Жыл бұрын
No because it’s difficult to undo in case there is pressure on it. The possibility of it unclipping itself is higher if it’s faced inward.

why would you need to clip your primary regulator to your right D ring?? I like how everything is close to your body nicely organized but aren't you going to use your primary reg always... hmmm I see you tech divers often use stage bottles so you need to put your primary reg away where it won't drift away.
@HealthSupercharger

would this be a good idea also for Recreational divers with a single cylinder or not really?
@CoastalDevelopment
@CoastalDevelopment 7 жыл бұрын
Hi. The primary is either in your mounth, your hand or clipped away. As you already mentioned, when I use a stage I want it to be stored instead of dangling somwhere and also when I walk to the water, get out of the water, etc. it is in a fixed position. Especially with the longhose it has te tendency to be dragged trough the dirt behind you - and thats not too god with your breathing source :-)
@HealthSupercharger
@HealthSupercharger 7 жыл бұрын
i see what u mean now, so even recreational divers would benefit from this when going in and out of water the reg falls in random places and on boat dives i noticed it can get crushed. by the tank but if it is on bcd it won't. very nice tip thanks

Hi Ian, yes of course. The SPG on the doubles is 56 cm and on the single it is 64c, The reason or this is that on the doubles the hose goes done pretty straight while on the single it is curved, which makes it a bit uncomfortable to check the SPG for a lot of divers. Best Achim

LG.

Hi, as a recreational diver I've been told to use an Octopus holder on the right side of my BC in case my buddy is in trouble he can easily have access to my Octopus and its also quite easy to remove it yourself and use it in case of emergency... What would be your opinion on using Bold snaps against Octopus holders to hang our Octopus? do you think it may add a risk factor for my buddy or me while diving? what is the advantage of using bold snap for your setup? I must also ask, I see a lot of these bold snap in warehouse stores... Would you say there's a difference between the ones that you get in stores for scuba gear? Thank you so much these videos, they are very helpful!
@CoastalDevelopment
@CoastalDevelopment 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Leo. There´s a mixup of concepts. If you dive an octopus you need to make sure it is accesable for your buddy. If you clip it off with a boltsnap that is not given any more. If you dive a long hose as we do and use a necklace for your own backup, you donate what you breath (which is one of the key principals of DIR minded diving. So the snap pn our primary regulator is there to stoire it if it is not in our mouth or in our hands. If you buy snaps buy stainless steel marine grade quality the stuff in the hardware store - even if stainless has a non stainless spring inside and if this will rust, the snap is done . Hope this helps. If I may say that - a BOE class might be super interessting for you as it really gives you all the knowledge behind. the videos are just like windows into someting.

Judging by the hose attached to your reg, you are doing a lot of confined space entries? That is a poor choice for any but the most experienced divers. Secondly, in a desperate situation an out of air diver rookie is going to try to rip yours out of your mouth.
