I wish we could read the Japanese comments...without the fight fixing Kyokushin as a Budo art would've won...short term gain( thinking) = long term pain....Remember what Gen Maximus said in the movie Gladiator..."what we do in life...Echoes in eternity " Damn shame...everyone lost...Willie(he got robbed)/Soshu/ Sanpei/Nakamura (do you think in USA 🇺🇸 we accept him as a real "champ"?) And Kyokushin as a whole was deprived of the opportunity to grow.
Yes tough situation all around, however what I don't understand is what was "tough" about it? 1) They were ALL top Kyokushin fighters 2) It would've been a great semi final and final match 3) What was the issue with Willie Williams winning? Was it b/c of the marketing campaign they had to have a Japanese Champion? What the heck Mas Oyama is Korean and speaks Japanese with a Korean accent... - 4) How does Willie's winning the Tournament impact his fight with Inoki?

Osu Nelson, I hear what your saying, but if you think about it - it was "lucrative" that a Japanese fighter should win the championship because it was only the 2nd world tournament of Kyokushinkai and with all the mass media and marketing and enrollment in Japan it wouldn't look so good. It was 'big business'. I was in Japan in the 80's and Kyokushinkai was all the "rave". So I think Willie took out his fustration in a way?
