Thin enough to penetrate, yet thick enough to eject the chips seems like the optimal combination. Optimal blade designs will depend on what we are cutting. Any thoughts on asymmetrical blade/cutting edge designs for these knives ? Have you ever tried cutting willow trees with an axe or hatchet ?

Asymmetry is an interesting thought! I have not cut willow trees, why do you ask?

@@homeslicesharpening Willow trees are unique in that an axe bounces off of the wood. It's kind of like hitting a supper ball with a hammer. Thought it would split after drying for a year or two . . . not true. I split a lot of fire wood with an axe, as we had a sawmill & heated with wood on the farm.

That Kershaw rides so high on the hip, was that uncomfortable? You must be quite fit because it is actually quite exhausting chopping and welding a big blade for any length of time.

That's a couple of apt observations man, yes that sheath was very uncomfortable at times! Back in the 90's we didn't care about comfortable sheaths, lol! I have been really thankful for the opportunity to do this work, because it tends to keep me in much better shape!
