I’m not convinced yet. 1. Their stock has dropped a lot so this is their chance to boost investment. 2. They need to compete with universal but it seems that universal can complete a park in a few years but Disney can’t get a ride built in less than 5. 3. Their execution changes from concept a lot lately with flakey executive decisions to cut budgets. I’m hopefully but they have a bad track record lately. At the same time they need to take great care because some of these project are large and park shaping decisions. They can’t have systemic issues, confusing or rushed stories, breaking animatronics, etc.

My 11 y/o son was watching this with me and when you asked what are you most looking forward to he said, "Epic Universe." LOL! I'm actually excited for the little Carsland they're planning to build in Magic Kingdom. I think I would have liked Moana more, but Cars looks nice and it is a popular IP and a fun one for kids. It is exciting that they're building two new Marvel rides at DCA. I think that was a big surprise; people were only expecting one. One thing that Disney in CA really has over WDW is the number of attractions per park. Then today they announced 4 new attractions for DCA, and they're only replacing maybe one ride (Monster's Inc.) to build all those new rides. So they're really increasing their capacity, and 3 of the 4 rides look like they'll have pretty good capacity. That arm ride seems a little odd; I hope it isn't a technical nightmare that doesn't last. If they replace Star Tours with Monster's Land I will be very disappointed. Studios only has 9 rides. The idea that they would close Muppets and Star Tours (two good capacity attractions) with a rollercoaster (less capacity) is crazy. I really hope they build this in the animation courtyard or somewhere where they don't have to remove rides or high capacity shows.

@-dtuyhnjhggvjjjn 1. The exact location of these new lands haven't been specified. 2. The concept art for Villain Land shows a body of water. The Rivers of America are the only body of water in/near Frontierland. If that body of water is repurposed, it would inpact/replace Tom Sawyer's Island. 3. If Disney disrupts the feng shui and the Aesthetics of the left side of the park like it looks like they have planned, it will truly be the nail in their coffin. that River and that Island creates the most iconic scenery and sightlines. I still remember Epcot and everything they promised and everything they didn't do or changed. And yes, Covid was bad but why can't a problem like that not happen again to Disney? For example what if; Disney+ is getting too expensive, Elon tries to take over or the biggest shareholders say that the higher management should be replaced. This is enough stuff that I'll be impressed if even half of it actually happens. At this point, I don't think anyone could be blamed for being skeptical. I remember when the rumor about the Monsters, Inc. coaster was that it would be a re-theme of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. But that was always too high-thrill a ride for that to be a really good fit for a family property like Monsters, Inc. People are talking about replacing MuppetVision and Star Tours, but I'm wondering if the idea is really to gut Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and use the show building (in which case it'd be way up on Sunset Boulevard). I heard that they mentioned the Radiator Springs Racers-like ride having a somewhat higher thrill level with some kind of drop, which immediately reminded me of Journey to the Center of the Earth at Tokyo DisneySea (it uses the Radiator Springs/Test Track system but has a not-very-steep, ~50-foot dark drop at the end). I wouldn't expect it to be on that scale, though--Journey uses the gigantic Mount Prometheus structure.

It feels like this was the ideas behind the renaming of Walt Disney Studios in Paris, I can totally imagine them renaming California Adventure at some point too, since nothing announced today (the expanding avengers campus, Avatar and Coco) has anything to do with California really. It’s also interesting that Indiana Jones and Encanto don’t really fit with Animal Kingdom and Monsters Inc getting a land at Hollywood studios (potentially replacing muppets) is also shifting away from the premise of those parks too.

Thankfully them switching to Tropical Americas instead of Moana/ Zootopia at least sticks to the theming of DAK better! It seems like some parts of that new land aren’t even based on IP, but rather the theme, which is a step in the right direction thematically!
@willmichael1384 ай бұрын
@@josiahgoes9633 see I don’t mind zootopia for Animal Kingdom, it’s one of a handful of Disney properties that are literally all about animals. They could have just stuck to these IPs there like Lion King, Bugs Life, Jungle Book, Zootopia etc.
@josiahgoes96334 ай бұрын
@@willmichael138 I don't mind it either, but originally they were going to change Dinosaur to Zootopia and add a Moana log flume directly across. I don't see how those could exist in the same land. That seemed like they were just adding in IP for the sake of adding it in. I'm just responding to what you said yourself about cohesive theming at non-castle parks. DAK seems to be maintaining cohesive theming. Can't say the same about the rest, especially DHS and DCA...

Ya the renaming of DCA is quite inevitable. Probably saved for 2026.

My thought on the Encanto attraction's ride system would be the HoloTile tech, in the debut video it showed how it would work with sitting in a chair and Bruce said "Casita has magically brought furniture to life which feels like individual benches independently moving around rather than a single big ride vehicle with multiple rows. It just makes sense to me for theming purposes.

Thank you, Jack for the great update. You are very concise and it was better than having to sit through the entire video. As a Californian, I’m excited about the Walt Disney animatronic, and the new expansions to California adventure. I really hope the two new attractions bring life to avengers campus. I have mixed feelings about the Mandalorian skin on smugglers run. Galaxies edge needs a lot more than that! I’m also excited about the new attractions at Magic Kingdom and Disney World. We were thinking about going out to Florida to see epic universe in 2026, but now we’ll just wait a couple more years until everything is finished at Disney World. I think the villains land is something to look forward to, but we shall see. I’m wondering if they did this in response to epic universes monsters land.

The castle at Disneyland Paris ought to be the Shining Castle from Beauty and the Beast and the Beast himself ought to be shown back in his prince form in the parks too.

Josh threw around the term "active development" as though it was supposed to mean something. How many past announcements that were being actively developed wound up being slashed or wiped out completely. A TON of them. I'm sorry but the term "active development" does not impress anybody here. We ALL know the phrase means nothing at all in terms of it actualy becoming a reality some day.

Thanks for the announcement breakdown, Jack! So much to look forward to!

I so want their announcements to have weight behind them, but they have a history making promises and not delivering… either by cancelling projects or delivering way less than what was shown ( festival pavilion). 🤦🏻♂️ I’m a huge disney fan and am not a hater but this leadership has let me down too much. Villains land will be a meet and greet, 10 merch shops, a restaurant and a short dark ride with screens.

If they want to to compete with dark universe then they will have to do better thsn screens

I actually grew up going to Disney world two to three times a year. I moved to California in 2019 and went to cars land for the first time. The sun was just setting the lights were on and I was in awe. It is a great land and is very slept on. They should Be thankful to get a land like that in magic kingdom. There’s a sweet chill calmness to cars land that will be a good edition and escape for that park especially when the other addition is villains land a huge thematic experimental land for the park that’s gonna be chaotic I just know it and I’m excited.

If I ever start a new life in California, I will attend D23 every year. I will mostly be witnessing the premieres of movies of all sorts in Hollywood, Los Angeles and work at Pixar in Emeryville. I'll also try not to miss a lucky chance of attending Disneyland.

Time for all the Disney Park Parade floats to be hauled by Casey Junior. The characters on the floats can be animatronics or special effects programming details and the Disney Fairies line can include the Blue Fairy, Cinderella's Fairy Godmother, and Aurora's fairy aunts, Merriweather, Flora and Fauna.

So how much of this $60 Billion ‘turbocharging’ is going towards those new cruise ships? Only thing that surprised me in the announcements was the Monsters Inc land. WDW needs MORE. Wonders of Life is still vacant. Spaceship Earth still needs its refurb. Imagination is still a mess. Still no Poppins in UK pavilion. No Stitch replacement. Hollywood Studios is most likely replacing attractions. Animal Kingdom will still only have NINE total rides after the Tropical Americas are finished. Here’s hoping destination D23 next year announces more for the flagship resort.

The Disney parks, as with any theme park will perpetually be in a state of needing more. The announcements made are spectacular and I too am excited to see if we get announcements for the things you mentioned in future D23's
