I really wish there was a way to connect Villainsland and Fantasyland through some kind of enchanted forest that had some of the Villains Grove effects at night. If they could expand the Beauty and the Beast area with the ride from Tokyo (which would also give them an excuse to get rid of that dinky castle) then start the forest transition, it would give a way to be able to make a big loop connecting the back of the park, plus having those two lands connected kind of makes sense.

If they don't connect Fantasyland and Villains Land from around back of its' a small world show building (in addition to connect from Frontierland) they would be replicating the "dead end" problems they already have at Magic Kingdom. I doubt they'll make that mistake -- so I think it will connect. Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland is a model of this access-from-both-sides approach.

I am hoping for a creative tunnel into the land through a gap between pinnochio haus and potential future back stage dark ride building he shows, plus a walkway around the backside of haunted mansion, plus walkway between Big thunder and future cars (though that might be the hardest to transition). Maybe (pure speculation) haunted mansion gets a better queue additional area on its back side. Maybe the train can go through a tunnel too, brambly tunnel.

Always thought they should do this in Animal Kingdom with a water animals. They have that Finding Nemo/Dory theater, they could have an indoor lane where animals from Nemo, Little Mermaid, and Moana could be. They have an entirely indoor Atlantica at Tokyo DisneySea. It would be a great refuge from the random FL showers.

I like your idea, makes sense, but I fear the AC would be very expensive for a large area like that (covered area would be 6 to 10 acres or so, and the roof would have to be something like 100 feet or so high to fit the castle and any coaster ride in). But, yes, it would be great, as it won't feel very spooky when its 95 degrees and humid on a hot sunny summer day.

Underwater animatronics are finicky and troublesome. Look at Jaws (movie and ride) and the Jurassic Park/World river Adventure rides.

I think Villains Land will extend further behind Haunted Mansion so there could be an access path into Fantasyland. A Fantasyland/Villains Land link would be almost mandatory.

I hope so. There are ways you could have a path connecting by Rapunzel's Tower, between Pinocchio VIllage Haus and Enchanted Tales with Belle, or even all the way over to Storybook Circus if they go that far. Any of these would mean some backstage area changes, but they're all possible.

If I don’t finally get my Yzma’s Secret Lab coaster I will be so disappointed in Disney! “Pull the lever, Kronk.” … “WRONG LEVERRRRRRRRR!” She’s the only villain from day 1 to have an actual coaster in her film! It’d be awesome if that’s the coaster you see under the water! OMG that would be amazing! But I’m mostly interested in just being able to see the characters. Like give me Yzma, the Queen of Hearts, Dr. Facilier, THE HORNED KING, and then ofc classics. But I wanna see The Horned King get some recognition for once.

And having this land lie beyond the Haunted Mansion makes perfect sense… The Mansion sits right at the edge of this boundary, allowing the ghosts to manifest and spend their afterlives there. But beyond that old mansion lies something darker. A place where monsters roam free and happily ever after is out of reach.

One thing few people have noticed is that the proposed laydown yards are far bigger than really needed for a project of this scale. As an Architect who has worked on several projects larger than this, a laydown yard also stabilizes unbuildable land to be stable enough to build on. I have to think that temporary fencing will be erected on both sides of the railroad track in that area during construction. They could easily build a show building and/or roller-coaster tracks that spans over the tracks like the Tron Coaster or Guardians Cosmic Rewind. This could make the expansion of this land beyond the tracks quite easy including many other back of house service access points from Floridian Way. I agree that most public areas will be inside the railroad tracks but show buildings could easily expand over the tracks to the outside of the area you have show. You likely would not have to close the train for most of the construction of the new land.

I agree it's likely show buildings will be outside the railroad tracks as at Disneyland (Pirates, Indy, Haunted Mansion, Splash/Tiana). Running the railroad behind the show buildings is "bad show" or would require a very long tunnel which is either dark and boring (not scenic) or expensive to theme. Or, I can imagine they will reroute the railroad and bring it inward like the did for Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland, creating ore usable land outside the tracks for the Villains Land.

It would be cool if villains land got its own train stop or backstage bus stop as a way to allow it a way to be open late after the rest of the park closes. Guests from all of the closed parks not ready to call it a night could roll in and have a late night Villains experience.

Great analysis, Jack! I rode Pirates in Shanghai and really think that would be a perfect ride system for a Villain's E-Ticket: The natural trepidation of being isolated in a boat in the water is already terrifying to some, plus the precision LIM control of the boats creates opportunity for clear story moments. Combined with both the physical set pieces, animatronics and the giant projection domes, it seems a great opportunity for a BIG visual experience. I also think the complementary D-Ticket attraction will be a coaster, if for no other reason than hearing people screaming adds to the "evil vibe" of the place.

It's apples and oranges. The universal monsters have absolutely nothing tonally equal to disney villains. put them together head to head, it's vastly different. Frankenstein and Gaston are not the same. The invisible man and ursula are not the same. the werewolf and maleficent are not the same. this argument feels so weak. the theming between the two parks are worlds apart....not sure why so many people are acting like they are the same.

I think for the sake of keeping things spooky and gloomy year-round, it would be great if a majority of the land were covered/underground in the style of the Mermaid Lagoon at Tokyo Disney Sea. Also personally, would like to see an enhanced (and Witch heavy) up to date version of Snow White's Scary Adventures in this land, along side the villains boat ride you mentioned Jack I think that would be great!

Disney should've done an entire park & not just a land, especially one w/just two attractions. There should be at least 3. 1 roller coaster. 1 ominimover trackless dark ride & 1 boat ride. Wish the rollercoaster was themed around Bald Mountain & not so much Maleficent (even if her castle is in the background). The boat ride could be themed around the River Styx.

The best thing for crowd capacity is to get people OUT of the existing parks and into a fifth. Instead of making people spend two or more days in one park AND increasing interest by even more to visit that same park, you put all the new stop into a fifth. Can you imagine how much better and manageable WDW would be if all of this, all that new AK stuff, Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land, and Pandora were in a fifth park. People would spend their second day at MK there instead. But no. They want to cram everyone into just four so they don’t have to hire more staff.

I'm sorry, I'd almost bet my very life that Villians land will NOT be ready in 5 years. I have no faith that Disney's finance department would ever greenlight that much money in such a short time. They always LOVE to spread out construction costs over many, MANY finance quarterly reports. Doing all of this at a highly accelerated speed will result in reporting too much cost in too short of a period of time. This si very bad for profit/loss numbers. To be completely honest? I'm not even fully convinced that this will even get built "like this" at all. We can't even expect that these same people in Burbank driving this today will even be there at all in 5-8 years. (or even two years)

First of all there is a change of leadership at Imagineering. Vaughn is the class of imagineering that built Pandora, Cars Land etc. they have big plans and they want to see them to reality. The 5 year build time to spread the costs is more than enough. TRON took longer because Chapek forced a pause on construction expenditure throughout the pandemic. Spending instead billions on Disney+ content. I fully expect, Tropical Americas for 2027, Cars in Frontierland in 2028, and Villains Land and Monsters Inc by 2029. The longest build time there is 4 years. Remember Toy Story Land took 2 years and Galaxy’s Edge took 3 & 1/2 years from start to finish (2016 land clearing to 2019 opening). I understand the scepticism but Disney knows they need to do something to invest. Betting against them investing would be bad business.

Hearing you saying “twisted” and mentioning Diablo keeps reminding me of Twisted Wonderland. It’s a Japanese video game/manga that’s sorta Disney Villians meets Decendants meets Harry Potter. Basically students live in dormitories inspired by Disney Villians. I think Diablo is a character because I was shocked that my daughter, who recently got into it, knew who he was. She’s not into Disney at all, but is into this.

I think the land will be roughly the same size as galaxies edge about 14 acres. I think the dark ride will be to the north east with the entrance coming in past the retaining pound in that square section of trees. It’s 2.5 acres exactly the right size for a large show building like smugglers run or rise. I also think there will be some sort of third ride added. They’ve disclosed 2 Eticket attractions. But we all know u have to have other attractions. So either a C ticket ride or a show. I think a bar / lounge will go directly behind haunted mansion and a restaurant will go on the left side of the retaining pond. All the back of house access is there.

Honestly, MK needs a teens/adult area. If parent's don't want to take their kids back there, don't. It's getting put in the very back of the park for a reason. The whole of the park is geared towards families. The problem I think Disney is seeing (as am I) is that the teenage demographic, for the most part, goes to Hollywood Studios for the big thrills like Tower of Terror, Rock N Rollercoaster, and Rise of the Resistance and then leaves property and heads for Universal. Parent's of littles are going to need to get over themselves on this one. Also, I don't think it's going to be spooky scary. Look at the Evil Queen at Disneyland. She's not "evil" or "scary", she's incredibly funny. And I think that's the angle Disney is going to go for. I don't think there is going to be much, if any, alienation of families on this. Universal's pretty much said that Dark Universe is going to be Halloween Horror Nights 365 days a year. I think Disney is going to go for a Mickey's Not So Scary feel. Time will tell.

Having show buildings outside of the track wouldn't be hard to do - Pirates of the Caribbean and Tiana's Bayou Adventure already do it, as does Space Mountain and Tron Lightcycle Run. The question is how disruptive it would be to the train. If they just need a bridge/underpass they might be able to build that parallel to the existing track, then cut over to that and remove the old track and complete the cut. Which could be done with minimal disruption - actual railroads do ths. From the looks of it, the roller coaster and the dark ride might be the only attractions for Villains at Magic Kingdom and more likely be occupied with 10 shops/restaurants. Wish Disney would include more smaller flat rides with this expansion, Just look at Tokyo DisneySea, the Fantasy Springs expansion has 4 attractions with no shops.

There should be a villain's' hotel like at Fantasy Springs. Imagine staying overnight in the Magic Kingdom. Those gravel pads could be the parking lots.

There are some many great Disney Villain's that I don't think the "land" should be centered on just one. If they wanted to build this land to "test the waters" then center it on Malificent and then connect it to Fantasyland through an Enchanted Forest themed walkthrough path. Sort of how Epic Universe will use "portals" to enter the different lands. Have happy elements when you enter from Fantasyland like nice green trees, animatronic birds, deer, rabits, etc. And as you progress towards Villains Land, it gets darker in tone. The colors of the trees get darker, bark pealing off, no leafs. Maybe have crows and ravens in the trees and glowing red eyes for at night time. What they really should do is build an entire park themed to the Disney Villains. The park could be more suitable for ages 13+. Different villain's could have their own land then. As an example, a Hades Land with the underworld, Scar land as the elephant graveyard, Jafar land, Cruella DeVille, Captain Hook, etc. There is so much you could do that way. Thrill rides, roller coasters, track less ridesz etc. That way the Disney Villains that helped to make all these Disney Animated Movies great, that without them it wouldn't have been the same could finally be fully represented and shown the same love and appreciation by Disney as all the other IP.

Villains Land is going to be amazing if they do it justice and spend the money on it. A Maleficent coaster seems nailed on. A Hades boat ride too. Would love a Madam Mim meet and greet. Also Yzma deserves a shop or restaurant. Cruella car chase in the style of the Mario Kart ride seems a good option too!

I wonder, since its a big new area, will they create an extension to the tunnels (utilidors). If they do, would we see the first ever expansion? Seems like a tight space if they wanted to utilize all that land for the restaurants, rides, etc. where else would they put back stage and the utilities? I hope for the cast members that its not just a crappy break room behind a building. Well I hope they do. Would be really cool to see them build it.

I think Disney is underestimating how popular this land will be. It’s going to be packed. I think it needs to double in size eventually. No doubt this land will be the centerpiece for Halloween especially with its proximity to Haunted Mansion and the Cars area.

Cars Land (at Disney California Adventure) is 12 acres, Pandora (at Animal Kingdom”) is 10, Galaxy’s Edge (at North Hollywood Studios and Disneyland) is 12. While Super Nintendo World (at Universal) is 7 acres, and Dark Universe (at Epic Universe) is 9. Meaning, there is more than enough land within the tracks to build the Villains Land. Leave the area outside the berm for a later expansion. Magic Kingdom’s Cars Land is a mini-land, not a clone of the one in California. Radiator Springs Racers is not being replicated, which is why a show building is not needed.

@@ChienaAvtzon It really depends on land utilization. I'll just focus on two parks here. Toy Story Land and Galaxy's Edge. Toy Story land is about 11 acres and feels small because Slinky Dog Dash is encompassed within the land. Where as both of Galaxy's Edge's rides are outside the perimeter which allows for an expansive experience. If Disney builds both of the rumored eticket rides beyond the railroad tracks, it could work. We'll just have to wait and see until they release more concrete plans.

@@scottcusson8655 - Disney is not building outside the track. Even Galaxy’s Edge has the show buildings within the 12 acres. It is just one is a dark ride and the other is a motion simulator, both of which have a smaller footprint than an exposed roller coaster. I suspect the Villains Land will take layout queues from Hong Kong’s Arendelle, which has a dark ride and themed coaster within the mountains. That Arendelle is not as large as everyone assumes, but is actually the most immersive and detailed in the world. It is actually superior to its Fantasy Springs counterpart in Tokyo. The Arendelle in Fantasy Springs has tons of dead space and looks barren.

Frankly, the "Marginally Unsuitable" classification outside the railroad berm is a "new" alteration, as the previous version of the Reedy Creek Comprehensive Plan had that whole already deemed Suitable for construction. I'm at a loss for why they changed the classification.
