To further increase the fire damage try adding in the act 3 fire Merc, that would add in a nice chunk of damage with the enchant he applies

Have been playing a lot with summoning necro, focus on max out skeleton mastery, skeletons, corpse explosion and fire golem. What i really love with the fire golem is that the fire aura is pulls monsters to my army, say i go to cows, i teleport to gather some cows, fire golem aggro out cows out of screen, then i summon use explosion and just before that i summon the fire golem further away in the direction where im going, aggro cows, blow them up and so on. This tactic is really satisfying since all the monsters come to me. Great video keep it up!

They should add a Blaze effect to the Fire Golem in the next balance pass they do. I think that would be cool and novel way to increase its viability. When standing still that Blaze turns into an aoe fire DoT mat like when meteor hits the ground. Fire immunes and high resistance to fire is a problem, yeah. Elemental immunities are a deeply annoying part of this game on the higher difficulties. But I think you've got the right idea, pairing a poison necro with a fire golem is a natural fit, since the poison necro already needs to use Lower Resist curse. Adding skeleton mages and maybe even an Act 3 merc would also synergise with this idea IMO, as would using the Trang-oul's set. Might make a poison necro if I get any more pieces of Trangs set this ladder.

I believe blizzard knows how undertuned fire golems and skeleton mages are, but they're being very careful about buffing them. With corpse explosion, necros are already very strong, and I'm assuming blizzard wants to be careful making another "hammerdin" wonderclass if they go overboard buffing the underused Necro skills

They should have Golem Mastery add just a little bit of damage. Like, 7% per level would be fine. It also should make the golem's holy fire do a little more damage.

If the golems soft points applied bonuses to the other golems that might be a step in the right direction But I got one necro that has a Level 55 Fire golem it’s definitely a interesting part of the army cause it will pull foes out of the woodwork to come down and be a part of the corpse explosion’s

I was felt like a good mechanic for the fire golem would be to make him a walking bomb.. when he dies or is recasted, let him explode and deal large AOE fire damage to anyone surrounding him.. reduce his mana cost , and now you have an added benefit of using it

I think that the Golems should all be accessible at the same lower level as the clay golem. just choose the one you want. A Fire Golem would be pretty awesome early game but by the time you can "afford" him, he sucks.

No, fire mastery does not apply to the fire golem, unfortunately. I thought about summoning some spirit wolves with my cold mastery sorceress and confirmed this. Edit: it might affect the explosion damage though.

The fire golem, and the elemental part of the necro summoning side, are potentially the weakest part of the entire necro kit; even after investing your entire build in on him Eldrich's minions were a slog to kill. The devs tried to make a balance pass for 2.4 and are still a long way from useable let alone good. Personally I would love to see a major overhaul to the entire summoning tree as the entire golem branch is too costly for the benefit they gives, save iron golem which relies on an external input. I've been thinking about it recently and would love to see CE moved to the summoning tree, and target your skellies over enemy corpses. This would create a builder-spender type playstyle where you have to manage your summons over just getting them up and forgetting about them. I like the idea of it because we don't really see that sort of playstyle outside of MAsin and if done right would also work to balance out some of the scaling power issues of CE. Additionally, moving some of the CE fire damage into a synergy with Fire Golem, and providing a fire damage synergy to fire golem from CE might make balancing easier and encourage investment.

I like your idea of the synergy between fire golem and CE. I really dislike the golems having synergy between themselves. Makes using golems a pre-zoo summoner druid build tier.

Cheap insight iron golem is probably the best option for the vast majority of necros. I could also understand decrep + clay golem which basically neuters bosses. Fire golem is just lackluster and as for blood golem you’ll just get made fun of by other players for even using it.

It would not unfortunately, a clear example of this is enchant. Enchants fire damage is enhanced when cast on self by fire mastery. But it's not enhanced by fire mastery when cast on someone else or a Merc. The fire golem is basically treated as a merc

Dude, don't put your lower resistance level higher than 15 (items included), it's just not worth it. Some may argue level 9 is good enough.

When Testing something like the Fire Golem you use Max LR to give him the benefit of the doubt to see if he could potentially be worth using. I am well aware it's diminishing returns make putting max points into it bad. But when you are trying to specifically test one aspect of the fire golem you test that aspect.

It's like blizzard intentionally made Fire Golem bad. the aggro aura is cool but holy hell what were they thinking. Get rid of Golem mastery and just add those bonuses to each golem's skill point.

What about Fire Golem with a Merc with Edge and Bramble runewords? He will get the agro and then mobs will kill them self on him? If I am using a sunder charm would that work for it on fire immune monsters??

Holy fire from multiple sources does stack yes, because they only affect the one wearing them. The damage pulse like wise only affects the monsters. So multiple Holy Fire Auras can stack yes, but it's also because they don't stack lol.

he sucks, even in nightmare. the only reason i use this when playing novamancer is he aggros every monster in the room to him, making a tight ball for me to poison nova everything in 1 cast. that is his only use, sadly.

I think objectively the clay golem wins from an ease of use perspective, along with useful feature perspective. Iron Golem I feel like wins in the most useful category, but also falls flat in the ease of use category as if he dies or if you die it can be a big loss. Blood golem is probably third with very few uses. But still fulfills his role as a meat shield quite well
