Thank you for covering the Poison damage issue and same-frame bug. If Corpse Explosion wasn't broken Necro would probably be the class in the most need of revamp. I don't think that the D2R team has enough resources left to do anything about it, but its at the top of my list of changes id like to see (right behind a currency tab). The only way to currently make it run at near-max damage, is to ditch the army short of a merc and a golem (for Insight) as you lose a minimum number of frames with only those 2.

19sec without summon, 23 second with summon to kill Diablo. I choose with summon then for safety reason and only add a few seconds to kill

Glad I watched this, because I recently respecced my necro (with normal a1 respec) to poison and summons so I have been playing with high level poison nova and 10 skeletons and 10 revives... It has been going very well, but clearly I need to respec AGAIN, to remove the points from revive, skeletons and skeleton mastery and put everything in the proper places. One merc, one golem (fire for the aoe I think) and just poison nova. That sounds like it will work properly. Luckily I have 2 more respecs available (once I finish the quest in hell), so I won't have any issues there.

I personally found the poison / summon combination very useful in hell difficulty on a solo self found playthrough. It helped a lot to deal with bigger mobs more easily. Even with all of those problems poison nova helped at least to kill all of the monsters that the skellies and merc weren't fighting.

Would be a nice change if teeth could shotgun with a cap limit. Sunder charms have made poison nova completely dominate. Amazon can perfectly shotgun a boss to death. Can't the devs throw the old man a *bone*

Sounds like what's probably happening is the game can only register so many ticks of damage in a given time frame so while the minions are slapping, their damage might be overlapping the poison damage every so often causing it to just not register, resulting in lost DPS. Which makes sense for a really old game struggling to account for the type of build synergies people have worked out over 20+ years of theory crafting. Though 4 seconds really isn't that much especially when you consider that going at it solo means face tanking Diablo yourself vs getting a free kill with your minions tanking for you. in most cases I'd still opt for the minion assist in exchange for the higher ttk. Cuz safety matters.

I think it's deliberate, because open wounds functions the same as poison does and it stacks with everything. I'm pretty sure this was something done deliberately to hurt the way the poison affects monsters.

Excellent and informative video as always! But I believe there might be an error, or rather, more specificity is required. I’ve been running an elemental necro summoner (fire and light mages only) with full Trangs and lower resist with an A3 Light merc. With this build, there is no physical damage. I don’t believe the damage from poison nova is interrupted. I haven’t tested it to your standards, but it seems to work fine in the fact that I don’t see any interruptions. Further testing required. Give Mr. Nimoy a scratch under the chin for me! Great channel bud!

If you are only using a Merc and a golem you may not visibly see the decrease in damage as there are 24 frames for poison to do damage per second and the golem and the Merc will only consume 2/24ths of your poison damage. The effect only really starts to become noticable with an army

The poison interrupt was good to learn. Kinda annoyed now because I was planning on doing a poison/ summoner build because I have not done that build yet. I have already done each one individually. I guess I could try mages I haven't done that yet. I don't care about clear speed I just want to have fun.

Summon combo is fun, just not a boss farmer. Cows and general area clears, it's amazing and relaxing.

Has this changed much after the latest update that got rid of next hit delay for a bunch of skills? I imagine that since they are missles, not much has changed but maybe now your "spreading plague" build works as intended?

I still consider Corpse Explosion to be the best skill in the tree. I mean, it is ridiculously powerful all on its own. No gear or synergies required.

Does "poison doesn't stack" also count for any source of poison? For example, having poison charms and firing off multi-shot repeatedly as an Amazon? Each shot just resets the poison timer but doesn't stack?

Good question, so on an Amazon poison charms all stack inside your inventory to reach a total number. They apply to melee and ranged damage and can combine with other poison damage sources like venom, poison dagger ect. "Poisons damage doesn't stack" is referring to on the monster not on the player. So if you have two poison Amazon's both hitting the same target only one poison is actually doing damage and that is the highest one. And yes even your own poison attack on the same monster doesn't stack with itself.

I run the summon/poison combo, no teleport stomping. It's great for clearing areas quickly and very relaxing. But bosses are SLOW, so ditch the skeletons and run around. No solo Ubers with this build...

Hope u seen MrLlamasc 45 density run with druid finding a Poison Nova Helmet plus Holy freeze he simply run everywhere while both freeze and poison spammed everywhere. XD He just had to run he dont have to do anything.

@@JVGamers for a summoner your priority is Maxing Skellies, Mastery, and Corpse Explosion. After that you just need a merc with a weapon that can kill quickly (ideally infinity) to generate your first corpse. Your gameplay basically is Amp the pack, Teleport (charges or Enigma) onto a monster, drop it, and use its body to CE the rest. after those 60 points you can do whatever you want, but running a beefy iron golem (20 golem and mastery) on the Insight runeword to maintain 2 auras is the most common path. Mages are pretty underpowered at the moment and 99% of your damage comes out of CE as of 2.5 so they aren't worth the investment. Personally I would run points in bone wall as a lure and to not be as squishy with bone armor.

@@JVGamers Mages could really use some love. they have a built in delay in casting, which could easily be removed to help them out, but ultimately by having one of each element 1/4 your mages will be hitting something immune and dealing 0 damage. there are a couple fixes floating around out there, but personally I think the best fix is to make all the mages one element that way they can be balanced and built around. personally I think they would synergize best as physical damage archers, but you could potentially make them all fire and put a synergy with fire golem for a fire themed build. if you wanted to get really crazy you could match them to your equipped golem, but that's getting pretty complicated.

Nothing has changed for poison, NHD issues never caused problems for poison. Poison causes issues for poison. Two poison effects cannot coexist on the same target at the same time. This has nothing to do with NHD

If you build your army right they basically never die, and at any moment you can switch to life tap to make them immortal in most scenarios.

What about fire golem, does the holy fire proc interrupt the poison nova damage over time?

Everything that hits the monster does to a degree. But one thing won't cancel out enough to matter. There are 25 frames in a second and if 1 of 25 frames gets eaten by the fire golem or even 2 you're still left with 23 frames of damage.
