Hey ginger, i think you should mention that the reason why these strange low level weapons exist is because weapons like this existed in classic d2 v1.0 where level requirements on uniques didnt exist yet. As for this specific weapon, it was focused on draining mana because vendors didnt sell mana pots back then and monsters barely dropped them. Also skills that time had no cool downs so your mana would drain almost instantly. I know a lot of new players are trashing these low level weapons because obviously today theyre complete trash after expansion existed.

A case could easily be made for upgrading that staff to elite and popping it on a feral druid (werewolf) and using bite with it on the offhand to fully restore your mana. I bet it would actually work quite well for that purpose. I suspect of course that there are better options, but if it's all you got... might as well yeah? I would not upgrade it to elite though. Exceptional? Yes, I would absolutely upgrade it to exceptional and use it on my werewolf with bite. Having like 150% mana steal even if you just do like 30 damage is still 45 mana stolen per hit. I would ditch it for hell difficulty though, because that 45 would be at most 15 given perfect conditions (you know, because some mobs have reduced leach effectiveness). It's a fine item for NM mode I suspect if you upgrade it, because a Ral, a Sol and a perfect emerald is dirt cheap.

Ginger, would you recommend a Kicksin or Summonmancer for ubers? I got really bored with my Smiter Paladin, and deleted the character. i still need to farm some keys before i can try to clear the Ubers.

Kicksins are ridiculously good at Ubers even faster then smiter. Summon mancer is interesting, skulm has some guides on Ubers with him

As a novice player who avoided non-trap Assassins, I don’t understand how kick damage comes from the boots. I took a screen cap and enlarged the graphic on the boneweave boots and could not find a damage indicator on the boots anywhere. In Titan Quest, the shields have a damage indicator with a range. In that game only the characters selecting Defense Mastery can deal damage with shields. If boots are supposed to do damage, why isn’t there some indication to the player? (Not doubting you. Just irked that this is hidden.)

The damage on boots only appear when playing with the assassin, just like the damage from shields only appear when playing a paladin.

new 2 game just got that staff and its allowing me 2 infinite spamm blade fury on enemys cus mans steal has turned game into easy mode

I note that Serpent Lord drops in Nightmare. Way too late. Level 9 items dropping in Nightmare???!! It needs to drop in Act 1 normal!!!!
