1 big correction for you. Constitution is not there casting stat. Their casting stat is Charisma just like the Sorcerer. That was mentioned around 2:20. They later go on to mention that charisma is the casting stat, but I just wanted to make sure people are aware what their caster stat is.

Bloodrager is one of my favorite classes conceptually. I made a character who was sort of like a magic super soldier. He was captured and experimented on, injected with all sorts of ichor and other things to make him magic and make him rage

My propably strongest character is in fact, a bloodrager with draconic bloodline, multiclassed into a dragon disciple. Those classes stack quite nicely, and his raw physical power can tear even the toughest enemies apart.

Ive been looking at that but i dont think postponing your 11th lvl feature is worth the bight or permanant fly. Im planning on trying but you can just cast fly out of combat if need be.

I think it is worth considering the difference between a Bloodrager , and a Vanilla Barbarian with enchanted items. Since rings or trinkets can cover a great deal of these things.

Some things I would like to suggest... human= +2 to a stat, can take an alternate racial ability to get proficiency in two exotic weapons (replace bonus feat). Could go double sword or orc double axe. If you can get your dex to 16, can switch between two weapon fighting and two handed fighting. Half Elf= Same as a human half orc= a half orc can trade out their orc ferocity for sacred tattoo, which gives a +1 luck bonus to all saved. With that and fates favored, that could be a +2 to all three saves. Also proficient with orc double axe (It is treated as a martial weapon). So have the same options as the above two races. Aasimar= Angel blood +2 to strength, +2 to charisma, no penalties. Darkvision. Later on, with a few feats, you can grow wings. Be a pissed off angel of death! Tiefling= Demon Spawn +2 str +2 Cha -2 int. A good option. Also, you can take the feat Armor of the Pit, which gives a +2 natural armor bonus to AC. This would help your Ac out a bit. Yes, you can trade out your resist 5 to three energy types for resist 5 to one and +1 nat armor intead, but I like the resist 5 on all three and +2 to armor better, imho. Nagaji= +2 str, +2 cha, -2 Int A good option, too. Also +1 to nat armor. Changeling= +2 cha, +2 wis (or +2 int) -2 to con. Two Claw attack, +1 natural armor bonus. This is harder to justify because there is no bonus to strength and there is a penalty to con. You might be able to create a claw using build, but they also get the option of Hulking Changeling to get a +1 damage on melee attacks. It is not a lot, but with multiple attacks, could be something. As another option, you can go a different route and go for an urban bloodrager archetype, which gives you a +4 bonus to dexterity or strength. So might go with a dervish dancer with a scimitar. Although it is only one handed, it can make some interesting builds, like with a Kitsune (pissed off fox) Catfolk, Drow, Certain Aasimar and Tieflings, and maybe some of the smaller races. Imagine a kobold or goblin bloodrager with dervish dance? Sure, not the best options for these, but may be interesting? Anyway, just some race options.

Never read much about the bloodrager before but sounds like a lot of fun, I'll definitely try it for my next character. I think a great race for it would be a oni-spawn tiefling, you get that -2 to charisma but you also get +2 strength and, thinking about lore, they are just the perfect combo. There should almost be a dedicated archetype for it that replace charisma with wisdom as casting stat or just cancel that charisma debuff completely just like eldrich scion do with an infernal tiefling. By the way, great video! I've by accident found your channel two days ago and now I'm just in the process of watching all of your videos.

And this is where I step in when talking about the dragon bloodline. I made one a few years ago that lasted the entire campaign going half orc primalist and i seriously made him into a natural attack beast! If all attacks hit, it dose Devistating amount of damage to one target.

I just multiclassed my dwarven fighter into bloodrager. My plan is take it up to 5th level but taking spell resistance at 4th level instead of casting spells. And giving up fast movement in the process because I already move 20 with heavy and I wouldn’t benefit from it at all.

Really good video! just one note, you cannot multiclass an hybrid class with one of the classes that are mixed in the hybrid class, so basically because blood rager is a mix of barbarian and sorcerer, you cannot multiclass into neither barb or sorc

Im playing a lizard race (cant remember the name off hand) lvl 6 bloodrager, 3 dragon disciple, with primalist and blood conduit archtypes. Beast totem and elemental rage rage abilities. My attack is +18 attack +16 damage for claw attack and bite attack. All my spells are touch based. Ill have pounce at lvl 12 so ill have 5 attacks at full attack bonus.

I have to admit, I wasn't all that into the barbarian because that wasn't my playstyle. But this? If I had to be barbarian this is it. No questions asked, at least I could do more than swing my oversized weapons and (if we're being stereotypical) dumb. Basically what I'm saying is bloodrager added a lot of flavor.

Just like to point out the demonic bulk bloodline power at lvl 4 for the abyssal bloodline. It is the best power of the bloodline. the "enlarge" is good for dmg.

I feel like Orc bloodline would fit perfectly for the Bloodrager, and it's not like the sorcerer doesn't already have the bloodline, and something like "you can use Transformation as your spell when using the Mighty Bloodrage ability" would work great for a 16th level ability for it

Abyssal bloodrager mixed with Paladin is great, especially if you use a tiefling with the 16th alternate spell-like ability function. Then you can use a big 'ol Butchering Axe with the Impact enchantment and Enlarge Person so you're using a weapon that deals damage as if it were gargantuan. Add your smite with that and Vital Strike feat chain & just destroy whatever comes your way (alternatively you can also take the Charging Bulette Style, slather on all the armor & take the fight to your enemies)

you....explain more of this glory you speak of...I'm making my first bloodrager he's a dwarf (has to be due to rp guildlines) but really want to destory stuff playing a whispering tyrant story so pluses against undead or casters is a plus any advice will be appricated

@@maxphobia Okay, so using the same build (Abyssal Bloodline Bloodline 4/Paladin 16) your dwarf would only be dealing damage as if it were huge with such a build, although the effective damage would still be significant. For your situation though (mostly because the build I talked about in this post takes a LONG time to properly come online & is better off when it's brought in at like, level 12 or so) I'd go pure Bloodrager & choose the Crossblooded archetype, allowing you to pick from two different bloodline skills, as well as replacing other less effective skills in your toolkit for the meager drawback of -2 to your will saves & no bonus to your will saves while raging. Choose the Celestial & Destined bloodlines for your bloodline abilities. 1st level Destined Strike, 4th Angelic Attacks, 8th Conviction, 12th Defy Death, 16th Unstoppable, 20th Ascension. This will grant you, in order, half your bloodrager levels as an insight bonus to attack rolls 3 times a day, your attacks are good for bypassing DR & grant an additional d6 of damage against evil outsiders which stacks with Align Weapon & the Holy enchantment, reroll an ability, skill check, or saving throw once a day, make a DC 20 fortitude check to keep from being brought below 0 HP, automatically confirm crits & defy crits unless they roll a 20 on the confirmation roll, and finally gain immunity against 2 different elements and a debuff, as well as resistance 10 against another 2 energy types & a +4 on saves against another debuff. You can also cross this with the Spelleater archetype to gain fast healing in place of your DR & sacrifice spell slots for d8s worth of healing (depending on the level of spell slot consumed to initiate the healing.) At any point you can stop pursuing the Bloodrager (although if you're going the Crossblooded/Spelleater route I'd suggest waiting until at least 8th level) and begin pursuing Paladin levels. Oath Against Undeath would be a good way to go, but keep in mind to save yourself a feat slot for Extra Mercy so you can use your Lay on Hands to cure yourself of the fatigued condition that coming out of a bloodrage gives you (another benefit of being a tiefling in that particular instance is that you healed more for using the ability on yourself, making them last longer in combat.) The Undead Scourge archetype is another place to go, since it effectively provides you with a 10' square where enemy undead cannot be healed. Other than that I can't suggest too many feats beyond the initial. Power attack is an obvious one, and anything that can improve your smite ability or otherwise increase your damage would be the naturally best if you decide to go into Paladin early. Save a feat slot for Exotic Weapon Proficiency, use it for the Butchering Axe & ensure you've got the 18 STR to properly wield it, put that Impact enchantment on it, and don't forget to prep Enlarge Person/have armor with the Righteous enchantment on it, and enjoy swinging around 6d6 of damage for those glorious rounds

@@TheSilversepiroth thank you so much for the detailed answer I think I'm gonna go for the crossblooded because that works perfecting I will be starting this char at lvl 8 the DM is letting me keep my last chars lvl so works perfect and it goes in line with becoming mythic as that is what this char will also be becoming in order to be strong enough to fight off mythic enemies and hopefully not but maybe fight the whispering tyrant himself.

Nice video! It's a pleasant reminder about the class and why it's fun, and the example story helps get me hyped to play one. However, it's time for some C O N T R A R Y O P I N I O N S The half-orc racial to stay up is a death trap, full stop. Normally a character in the negatives will be knocked out, and the overwhelming majority of enemies will ignore them and move on to active opponents. However, a standing orc in the negatives will very possibly be hit again, now knocking them past the threshold of death without a chance of being healed. This can even happen in the middle of a big bad creature's full attack (and it's your job to go toe to toe with these guys, btw) so you can go from active to dead without getting a chance to even USE your extra turn. Same goes for the Diehard feat. More pressing, I strongly disagree with d8 about Dragon Disciple. I would argue that Bloodrager is the only reason that the prestige class is even worth the paper it was printed on. Hear me out here: Working out of core with a Sorcerer, you've got the base of a wizard chassis with terrible hit points, no great weapon proficiency, an inability to wear armor, and terrible BAB. Hell, your claws are only up 3+charisma ROUNDS per day, so you can't reliably build a fighting style around it. So you're unable to fight without being a liability. Now enter Dragon Disciple and you realize that your spells, the only benefit you have over Bloodrager, are at a weakened and staggered progression. Meanwhile at Camp Bloodrager, your claws (and bite thanks to DD) are up as often as you rage, which starts decent and gets better with time, ensuring it isn't a dead feature. You have great BAB, martial weapon proficiency, actual armor, solid hit points, ACTUAL ARMOR, and amazing damage. You don't care as much about staggering spells because you were never a primary spellcaster. Sure, the lower BAB hurts your Power Attack scaling, but you get oodles of free stat boosts that more than make up for it, especially if you're relying on claw/claw/bite anyway. So yeah. DD and Draconic Bloodrager were practically made for one another and I can't see DD working remotely as well with any other baseline.

And at level 16 Bloodrager get a new Draconic bloodline ability, than what the Sorcerer Draconic bloodline gets. Scrcerer get- claws level 1 Dragon resistance level 3 Breath weapon level 9 Wings level 15(which suck) Power of wyrms level 20 This bloodline suck for a Sorcerer, I would choose Phoenix bloodline. For Bloodrager Draconic bloodline Claws - 1 Draconic resistance - 4( which is kind of fair)one level higher but what ever Breath weapon - 8 one level lower Dragon Wings - 12 three levels lower better the Sorcerer New ability Dragon form - 16 Power of wyrm - 20

I find that the spells generally dont cover for the loss of ragepowers, and the bloodline traits only generally function while raging... a basic barbarian or unchained barbarian just has more options, especially with other casters in the party... i dunno i think the bloodrager needs some tweaks to truly compete imo

The undead bloodline kinda sucks though but the ghoul bloodline is great for a melee focused character. A good origin story could be that your pc's old adventuring party got wrecked & he hid in corpses to survive.

i agree, gone over the differences between bloodrage + spells vs ragepowers, sad to say but 10 ragepowers from a basic barbarian outscale the bloodrager hard.... especially after you consider totemic and titan mauler archetypes stacked together, use a nodachi like sephiroth does

There underwhelming in many places but the way there designed is 60% of the primary. So all said and done I'm sorry to say there well thought of. They gave good time making them. But in the end they were all disappointing 😑

well summoner, magus and investigator are pretty solid. the vigilante is the best rougetype and the witch is as effective as it gets. i dont think its that much about power anyway as long as waht you want to play lore or roleplay wise is available and solid. i also disagree with most tier lists out there because most people seem to go just by spellcasting ability, and while spell users are the strongest classes i think there are a lot of classes that can more then hold their own. especially scince casters often dont have that much skill points. oh and you can get rage powers with bloodlines combined by either multiclassing a bit or using the primalist archetype.

This was interesting. I really wanted to make a female bloodrager and this helped a lot. I want her to be stereotypical eastern woman but she has abyssal blood and becomes an Oni like creature that's all the opposite of how she normally is. (Weapon of choice: Tetsubo ofcourse).

I have an idea for a Gnome Fey Bloodrager that acts like a Looney Tunes character. This class is the best balance between the cartoonish bending of reality (spells) and just bonking things with a big hammer.
