Denice Stoops ( known as 'DA' ) Sending the ceremonial closing transmissions of Night of Nights XI.
Each year one minute after the 'official' end of commercial morse, coast stations take to the airwaves and pay tribute to the mode, people, and history of commercial morse communications.
DA is keying all the transmitters for KPH, KSM, and KFS here in this video. Go to www.radiomarine.org for the full story on Night of Nights.

My grandfather was the inventor of the Vibroplex Lightning Bug. Sadly I know nothing about the telegraph but find it so interesting that there are so my enthusiast who still enjoy today.

I had a lightning Bug. I went into the Army and lent it to someone. Came out of the Army and could never remember who had it. Of course no one ever came forward. I replaced it with a Japanese bug - the worst piece of crap ever, then went to paddles and electronic keyers. Sure wish I still had the bug.

The music of morse has gladdened the hearts of many as we have crossed the barriers of time and space. We ask your aid and guidance in our decisions and actions during the coming year that we may be worthy of the equipment and tradition that has been entrusted into our humble hands. Bless also the ears around the world that share the fruits of our labours."

Great fist, but I'm really surprised at how much her hand is moving on paddles. I'd think it would get really tired. Her thumb really arcs back and it looks like she's using all four fingers on the right side. Like some letters get different fingers tapping the paddle. (I didn't try to tell which ones) Captivating.

I copied strictly manual Morse while in the Army. Some ops were so terrible, your teeth would grate in frustration. Other ops were fast, clean & had a distinct rhythm (fist]. One of my "targets" could do 20+ gpm, but had a "rockin'" rhythm that made it easy to get in the groove and just copy him for hours. Those NVA/VC OPS were great.
