I am so pleased you're making videos again, one of my favourite channels on KZbin!

Interesting about the birds and radar, I'll defo have to read up on it. I saw you mention in the comments about the AIP, so I'll look it up. Another beautiful video Jaunty, thank you.

Excellent videos Jaunty17. The DA-42 looks like a lot of fun to fly! Watched your vids multiple times, always pick up something each time; I like the very sophisticated, efficient capability of your airplane...

Thanks for coming back sir! After flying the DA42 one doesn't want to go back to Senecas or Barons. Completely different story, even though they are both great aircraft.
@jaunty178 жыл бұрын
+Samuel Olives And the G58 they sell today still does not have EECUs. Still the complex throttle quadrant to manage in case you lose an engine. And those are 300hp each, which I imagine will develop a nasty yaw, or even tend to flip the plane under the wrong conditions. Otherwise a beautiful aircraft, if thirsty.

Great Video, stunning landscapes, especially while departing! Fog is really unusual here in Milan in winter, it's much more typical of October/November. Anyway this is the most strange winter ever in Lombardy, no snow, temperatures 5/6 when not 10 degrees above standard, so is much more autumn feeling than winter. DA42 seems to be an amazing aircraft, isn'it?

Hi nice vid. You should come to Malta (MLA). Beautiful island in the middle of the mediterrenean.

Hello, pleases me and I'm sure it pleases your viewers to see these uploads. Do you base yourself in places for a period of time? Thoroughly enjoy this, take care and happy flying!

If the DA42 is also marketed to Flight Schools, Diamond should offer optional dual panel mounted side-stick controls (as found on Airbus Aircraft) and/or dual rams horn yokes (as found on Boeing/many other commercial Aircraft). Just seems like it would help with muscle memory or familiarity when heading for the Airlines. Just my humble opinion.

Another great video, thanks for the upload. Does your passenger not know you've got the whole thing on camera already!

Sweetness. Textbook. That autopilot system is sure nice. Thought I heard the tower request report outer marker. Difficult sometimes to hear in all the ambient noise.
@jaunty178 жыл бұрын
+k1mgy Yes, I heard that too when I listened to it afterward. That's the main reason I started making these vids. At a new airport, in a new country, the ATC instructions are not always as one would expect. I'm not used to a towered airport asking me to report position. They have radar, so they normally see where you are. But, with the heavy fog, etc., maybe they wanted confirmation. It is very good to be able to study the order of events afterward on the video and think through what happened.

You may have been distracted a bit also by your passenger,plus the added task of cross-checking the autopilot. Nice bit of piloting. Thanks for sharing.

your video have been entertaining and also admiring. From taking off, flying through countries, and landing. How long have you been flying and how long does it takes to learn to fly DA DIAMOND TWIN ENGINE?
@anostalgic34028 жыл бұрын
To fly it it is an easy A/C. But before hand read through the manual and the different systems, feels like your doing a Type Rating :D After about 40hrs you should feel relatively at ease and understand the operation of the A/C quite well

Nice video as usual! I am one of your followers, and is taking my PPL in Sweden and will continue afterwards with ATPL CPL/ME/IR. It seems like you are flying instructor? Otherwise, a pilot with a lot of experience as a private pilot. Do you have any school in Sweden that you recommend? I want to find a commercial flight school with a good balance between economy and quality and also a school with a good reputation. Do you have any tips? I Wrote in English so more people can take part of your answer. Happy flying!

+jaunty17 Thanks for your response and your tips! Feels good that you recommend Airways, seems to be a good school and now you also confirmed it which is appreciated. A personal recommendation as yours always means a lot more than the companies own attempts to seem "being the best flight school". Now I am looking forward to seeing your next flight adventure.

interested if you could expand a little on the birds don't like radar comment and the minimum for the DA42 been 250 AGL..
@jaunty178 жыл бұрын
+Liam Sandie Hi! On the birds, several AIPs I have read advise that radar should be turned on (not on standby) for departure, to discourage birds from flying in your path. I have not researched this myself, but rely on that information.
@liamsandie8 жыл бұрын
+jaunty17 thanks. I've not come across that before, sounds interesting. I might have missed your explanation on the video but I am sure I heard you state that the DA was 250ft due to being in your DA42, could you expand on that please?
@jaunty178 жыл бұрын
+Liam Sandie On the CAT I minimums, this is based on the Swedish implementation of th EASA rule book (OPS LFS 2007:50). There are several clauses that apply. Relevant in this context is that the DA42 I fly has the GFC 700 autopilot, which for approach and departure, is authorized for use down to 200 ft, and that the AP is coupled to the ILS signal. The rules say two things about this, when used in single-pilot operations. First, the minimum decision height (AGL) may not be below 1.25x that authorized height, in this case 200 ft. That's where the 250 ft minimum for my plane comes from. Second, that the minimum RVR to be used with a DH of 250 feet is 600m (when complete CAT I navigation aids are available). Naturally, for a given approach, the minima may be greater than these, but they may not be less. In practice most ILS approaches use a DH of 200 and RVR of 550m, so knowing my minimums are greater than these is important.
@liamsandie8 жыл бұрын
+jaunty17 thanks for the detailed reply. I assume from what you describe that this applies to an AP coupled approach only and what you describe would not apply if you were hand-flying the ILS?
@jaunty178 жыл бұрын
+Liam Sandie My assumption as well, although it's not specifically stated.
