I love his work during his initial movies when he wasn't that heavily into body building :P Meine Pyaar Kiya (1989), Love (1991), Hum Apke Hain Kaun (CLASSIC '94), Saajan (91), Jab Pyaar Kissi se hota hain (98), Andaaz Apna Apna (CLASSIC '94 )....No matter what kind of crap movies he's done in the last few decades, I'll still remember him for his pre-2000 work. Most of the people commenting "Why would you react to such crap" sound so ignorant as if they've never watched a comedy/masala movie in their life. People need to realize that not every movie is supposed to be artistic. This was a pop corn flick type of film, where you can sit back, laugh and enjoy the action sequences (I'm talking about the original Dabangg) and the film checks all the boxes for a masala entertainer. see the dabangg series is exactly as you said: completely over-the-top, silly, not entirely meant to be taken seriously, a shit ton of exaggerated action for the hell of it, and more. the audience expects this going into it but at the same time it's like ..... bad. like there's a lot of blatant misogyny and glorification of toxic/abusive relationships and a ton more issues that are pretty normalized. it is entertaining but those issues are pretty glaring. so definitely enjoy these scenes out of context, but don't go out of your way to watch the movies.

Salman is a brilliant actor, how do you expect good performance outta these commercial entertainers, watch tere naam, bajrangi, hum dil de chuke sanam and you'll know that, you want to do stuff that works, you won't get the best of scripts every 6 months, these are safe, entertaining movies which don't hold a sensitive plot with depth
