The Wild Cat dialogue is also from the 70s Don. Infact,Black Eyed Peas song 'Don't Phunk With my Heart' begins with a direct copy-paste sample of 70s Don song 'Yeh mera Dil' :p The problem with Don1 was that since it was a remake, they had to stick to the original names,characters,mannerism, plotline,songs,dialogues that were all iconic leaving very little area for modification or addition. Don2 was a clean slate.

Weird that no one has mentioned this, but Hrithik Roshan was originally supposed to play Don in the remake, due to scheduling conflicts, S.R.K. ended up getting selected. H.R. being in the sequal is a little nod to that.

Farhan Akthar is no doubt a good film maker. His first film "Dil Chahta Hai" proves it. To be fair to Farhan, the first part of Don, was a remake of an old famous movie also called "Don" starring Amitabh Bachchan, which came out in the 70's. He unfortunately didn't have much to work with because there already was story and a screenplay, that too, one which was written way back in the 70's. Don 2 is his original story and screenplay. That's why its so much better than the first one.

The problem with the first one is that it was a straightforward remake of the story with minute changes, which was not a cool move as it was playing with nostalgia and the story didn't fit with the present time. But the ending of Don opened up possibilities and Don 2 is the result. The plot and action are inspired but still the story still holds good. The cinematography and hand to hand action was the best part of this installment. I still believe that there should have been a prequel movie, then an improvised remake of the plot of 1978 Don and then this one.
