I know that I have said it more than once before, but I can almost hear it in my soul...these places you've been to in Romania call out to me as if I have lived there before. I can say they are achingly beautiful places and thoroughly mean it in my heart. I am drawn to them as if they are whispering to me to come back now, as I have been away for far too long. Where have I been all this time? They have been awaiting my return as I belong there, I was always there in some way sometime, in another lifetime. It is sad like a cry from deep inside my soul. It is almost time for my return...

Yeah, Sinaia is absolutely amazing. Can't wait to go there again. I mean, the possibillities of what you can do there is just more or less endless. You have the Peleş and Pelişor castles, you have the restaurant Cabana Sciorilor, you have the telecabina (cable cars) up the Bucegi mountain, one that goes up to about 1400m and the other takes you up to the top of the mountain aprox 2100-ish m up... and much much more.

At about timestamp 04:46 Molly says that there's an uphill path that you have to take to get to the castle. Um, well, yes, if you come from the bottom of the hill, then yes, which I can certainly recommend just for the beauty of the woods. But, if you come from the other way (from the central part of Sinaia (you can drive more ir less almost all the way up to the restaurants just like a 2 minute-ish walk and then you're at the castles. 👍👍🙂🙂 The castle grounds itself is actually made up of two castles, Peleş castle and Pelişor (the latter being the smaller one of the two).

There is also a third castle, Foișor (a.k.a. the Hunting Lodge), but that one unfortunately remains an official residence for the sitting head of state (I don't think that anyone actually stayed there since Ceaușescu. I heard that the former president (Băsescu) held a birthday party there), and even getting close it's forbidden. It was the temporary accomodation of the kings until the greater castles (Peleș and Pelișor) were completed and it was confiscated by the Romanian State when the communists came in 1948. This one was never given back to the Royal Family.

That fairytale place (Castelul de lut) is basically a copycat of the Fable Cottage from Victoria, British Columbia, built in the 50s. Even that one is inspired by the Snow White's cottage from the animation movie (1937), but it's the original. Peles castle is beautiful but for intend and purpose it's a palace, I don't know why us romanians insist in calling it a castle. A castle is fortified, with strong high walls and so on, this one is not that at all. Great videos! where are you heading next?

Hi, awesome videos & talented editor, nice editing skills. When you've visited Peles, there was also another little castle - Pelisor. The Pelișor Castle (pronunciation Peli-shor) is a castle in Sinaia, Romania, part of the same complex as the larger castle of Peleș. The castle was built in 1899-1902 by order of King Carol I, as the residence for his nephew and heir, the future King Ferdinand (son of Carol's brother Leopold von Hohenzollern) and Ferdinand's consort Queen Marie. Now some nice facts about Queen Marie (our Romanian last Queen) > en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_of_Romania " Marie of Romania (born Princess Marie Alexandra Victoria of Edinburgh; 29 October 1875 - 18 July 1938) was the last Queen of Romania as the wife of King Ferdinand I. Marie was born into the British royal family. Her parents were Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh (later Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha) and Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia. After refusing a proposal from her cousin, the future King George V, she was chosen as the future wife of Crown Prince Ferdinand of Romania, the heir apparent of King Carol I, in 1892. Marie was Crown Princess between 1893 and 1914, and became immediately popular with the Romanian people. " Hence why in the Buckingham Palace you can see the Romanian Royal emblem on the walls.
