Duudes... if you're gonna have "sorici", don't have them in a city restaurant, they don't know how to prepare it like in the countryside... and it tastes the best when it's freshly skinned off the pig ( usually in the dead of the winter, right before Christmas)... it's supposed to taste a bit smokey from the burner and salty from the scrub down to ensure there's no leftover hair behind... the texture in itself might be an acquired taste though... and "Palinca" is not really worthy of the name if it doesn't have at least 55 Degrees... if it's like vodka (40 degrees) or softer than that, then you may call that "tuica".... at least those are the rules in my neck of the woods LOL. The traditional foods and drinks might taste good in a restaurant, but I guarantee that no chef is gonna make it tastier than a grannie from the countryside would. P.s. "visinata" is a homemade liquor out of sour cherries, macerated for a few days with sugar so they make a raw syrup and then you add alcohol (moonshine levels, to keep things preserved and then you dilute it with a bit of water when you serve it so you don't get instantly drunk after a sip LOL) and mix it up.. it's supposed to have a nice dark ruby color... and you can also use it to make cherry (or is it sherry?).

You thought that maybe Romania is like a 3 rd world country? Romania is one of the most beautiful country in the world, I can say. The nature is so rich . We have mountains, sea ,everything is there. The food is amazing and we have so many traditions which are hundreds of years old. Romania is underrated because of the corrupted government which we have .

@@valiniculcea2569 Actually, I have this fascination with Romania because of Vlad the Impaler and Dracula. I have seen images of the Romanian countryside, which includes Transylvania, and it is in fact part of my bucketlist. I just need to figure out how to get there if it was a roadtrip taken from western Europe.

Sarmalele are also very popular in ROmania.. but we eat them especially in the holidays (Easter time or / and especially in the Christmas / Winter times). As for MiCi.. we eat them way more often. Since they can also be grilled (when you are outside OR if inside your house or apartment.. fried in the pan (with sunflower oil).

Hey guys, don't be afraid of the sorici (pig skin). Is very good with a lot of salt. The texture is like rubber but very satisfying to eat. The mici (skinless sausages) are amazing with a lot of mustard and bread. Polenta (is basicaly boiled corn flower) you eat with cheese or stews or fried fish or sarmale (cabagge meat rolls). And the sauces we do not dip, we put it on top of the food. We are in love with garlic sauces mostly. Hope you enjoyed your stay in Bucharest!

Sarmalele are a bit sour because the cabage used to make them is allways pickled cabbage. The fresh one will be litterally imposible to roll it. Romanian food it is the best food on the planet. And the papanasi are a lighter and healthyer version of a donut, percent of flower is lower and replaced with soft chesse instead. I really like them as well. I hope someone picked up thst lid from the coffe what felt on the floor by the wind. 👍

Mamaliga or polenta is a substitute to bread. And lighter than bread and it’s made of water and corn flour . Mici or mititei you eat them with bread and dip them into the mustard. We enjoyed our trip to Transylvania, but the service and food was aweful. And we had eaten in the best ranked restaurants in Cluj and Sibiu. Never ever had eaten so bad in an restaurant and it was not even cheap. The service was sowjestic. From the Uberdriver to the waitress. So, if you visit Romania, drink only beer or take a few lunch packets from abroad with you.

That’s such a shame. We had only good times on our trip and great food 😞

I am romanian.... An i can tell you you went wrong 🤣🤣.. Bucharest has no food culture... It's brought from other cities because thats the money place... All you ate there was nothing compare if you were to go citiea and regions specifically in romania to eat another 10 unique dishes alonside of what you already ate 😂😂😂😂😂
