Although they are by no means a perfect family in any capacity, this is probably the most poetic ending for Dabi. Just like his hidden ice quirk that assumedly had been barely keeping him alive in the inferno he had made, both of his parents being there in the end with empathy on their faces instead of spite shows that Dabi was genuinely loved even if no one saw it until the end. I think this is perfect writing for a very dark topic; no fairy tale ending, but much needed recompense for everyone involved in the tragedy of the prodigal son.

dabi is my favorite villian of all time. mainly because of how much sense his story makes. he deserves to succeed as a villian. doesn't make him a good guy but a guy you can understand and even lean toward siding with for how bad things were for him and his family. he should 100% die killing endeavor and scar his mom permanently or perhaps kill both. i only wish shoto has a chance to finally sooth his broken soul before he goes.

I’ve always wondered that too. They probably do, but were never given a proper chance. Besides, they’re older now, and not really interested in being heroes at all, so fully developing their quirks is really unlikely.

This awakening for Toya is perfect because now this makes him the absolute perfect final opponent for Shoto and I feel like when Shoto arrives this battlefield and sees BOTH his parents die? The emotional distress will trigger his true quirk awakening because as we have seen Shoto is similar to Dabi in that this powers get stronger the more emotional he is. Shoto's phosphorus is the ONLY thing that can stop Dabi now and I feel that's by design

Dabi did not experience an Awakening. Awakenings are forced evolution caused by the need for the body to preserve itself. What Dabi is experiencing is called Hysterical Strength, where instead of the Body evolving, it instead bypasses the self-installed Limits so as to prevent the body from destroying itself. Its in a similar vein to that of a Mother lifting a car to save herself or her child. This destroys the body in the process, but saves the person or thing. Its adrenaline in peak performance. Dabi always had an ice quirk, but it was so weak that when his quirk first appeared, the ice was not produced, and thus caused people to believe that he only had a Fire Quirk. That is, until dabi went into Hysterical Strength, and his body pushed itself so hard that his weak Ice Quirk, could finally appear. Dabi would never have accessed this Ice part of his quirk in the mean time.

Dabi has copies to many moves from Endeavor and that’s Prominence Burn, Jet Burn, Hell Spider, Hell Minefield and Vanishing Fist and he also copied Shoto’s move and that’s only Phosphor I wonder what’s next moves he’s going to copy there’s Hell’s Curtain, Ignited Arrow, Hellfire Storm and Vanishing Jet Burn

I do not know if Horikoshi intended this, but Enji is still making the same request to Touya when he was young: "please put out your flames". I think that Enji genuinely did not want Touya to get hurt, to which he verbally expressed this time by saying: "I do not want you to die". However, this is not the way to get through to him... This is why Rei, along with the Todoroki siblings, coming in and expressing their feelings outwardly and clearly to Touya is important. In a way, they are telling they acknowledge his feelings, and actually want to help him this time, even if they get hurt in the process. Touya, despite everything he did up until now, and despite the negative feelings he experienced and still does, he still loves his family.

I’m not fully sure how to feel about this, on one side I’m happy to see dabi have his mothers quirk cause it kinda shows that if endeavor didn’t push him aside and focused on shoto and he did help touya he could’ve pushed his son to unlock his ice and become a great hero, but on the other hand I was kinda hoping he just keep the fire quirk because it shows how dabi can hold his own without the need for ice.

I don't think Dabi would have gotten this ice without being in this state. A quirk Awakening can happen in near-death experiences (Bakugo and Toga) or with intense emotion and desire (Geten) But from the narration and visually, Dabi is in a far far worse position than either of them. Plus his tolerance it too low to even train to get to that point without serious disfigurement before and especially after he went through puberty- his orange flames were already too hot. Endeavour's issue wasn't giving up on his son's training, it was giving up and running away from raising his son. The issue is that his regard, affection and attention were conditional. (Which is why Nastu and Fuyumi were ignored) God Bless

More so, his Ice Quirk was so weak that it had not manifested in any significant way except for him having a weaker temperance for Fire, but when reaching Hysterical Strength, where everything is pushed to its max, his Ice Quirk, witch is weak to start, suddenly becomes strong, with his Fire Quirk still overpowering it. Thats part of the reason why we only see a small amount of Ice within his chest. The reason Shoto is so powerful is because both Ice and Fire at base line are equal, so he develops both in an obvious manner, thus allowing for the traning of both at the same time. With Quirks, while you can increase strength, generally you increase affinity first. (Shoto had the same power of fire as he did Ice in the Sports Event, but his affinity for Ice was much greater, thus he had better control over it.) So when you reach hysterical strength, both parts of the quirk are pushed by the same multiplier, thus making both more powerful. For Example, I have a quirk that allows me to produce Lasers from my eyes, and gems from my body. I could have a greater affinity for the Lasers, thus leading me to using it more, and seemingly it being more powerful, but instead, the quirk actually is the same power all around. When I train the quirk to get stronger, both Laser and Gem will get stronger together. When I reach Hysterical Strength, both quirks get the same power multiplier, thus becoming stronger as a result. Now imagine if at base, or manifestation, Gem was much weaker then laser eyes. It is so weak in fact, that it does not appear in any real sense, but instead I get the side effects of it. Now my skin is slightly harder than most and it is shiny and sparkly. When I increase my quirk strength, it suddenly seems as though I have a new quirk, but instead it was just hidden underneath, always present, just not strong enough to appear. It's like the manifestations of Quirks within One for All, except thats a unique case. That is what is happening to Dabi. He always had an Ice Quirk. It was too weak at base to manifest. When he increases in Quirk Strength, the Quirk suddenly seems to develop Ice. Its not an evolution.

I agree with you. Which is why I said his attention and affection were conditional and not that he didn't care for Touya. That's also why I disagreed with the take that Endeavour should have kept training Touya "Plus his tolerance it too low to even train to get to that point without serious disfigurement before and especially after he went through puberty- his orange flames were already too hot." My genuine guess as to what will help next is that Rei will in case herself as well as Dabi and Endeavour in a massive ball of ice in an attempt to try and contain the explosive within it and try to keep the radius of it all to a much smaller degree. Though I feel like that will be in 2-4 chapters from now. I feel like the next two chapters will shift to Uraraka and froppy as they try and deal with Toga and the Twice clones.

That's what I was thinking first is Endeavor and Rei trying to save Dabi and Shoto arrives and get his rematch against Dabi for 4 chapters and after that then it shifts back to Uraraka and Tsuyu continuing dealing against Toga and her Twice's clones for 2-3 chapters and after Gunga Mountain fight then it shifts the other fights like Aizawa and Present Mic trying to save Kurogiri and maybe Dr Garaki will return for his revenge with his Exo Suit and tells them the truth about Kurogiri 2-3 chapters, Fat Gum and Aoyama fight against Kunieda, Sero, Ojiro and Sato with several Class 1-B fight against Gashly, Gunhead, Kendo, Tetsutetsu and Death Arms captures AFO spies and Hound Dog, Ms Joke and Ketsubustsu students captures Skeptic for 1-2 chapters but in the meantime they should show all Class 1-A reaction about AFO is trying to reach to Deku while busy their own fights in each chapters whenever they're focusing on next fights and it shifts to All Might fight against AFO to stop him from also reuniting with Shigaraki for 2-3 chapters and last it shifts back to Deku continuing his final fight against Shigaraki, Bakugo's return and Class 1-A and Heroes all head towards to UA to root for Deku to take down Shigaraki after they finished their own battles for 8-9 chapters

So the reason that Toya isn't dying from his flames despite everything we have been told and his body having a weak constitution from Rei the answer was in front of us the whole time and it doesn't even have to do with his ice quirk. It's the fact that Toya is heat resistance on the inside of his body that's why he's lasted this long like a Phoenix.

He’s not heat resistant, thats why he has burn scars for a reason, his body inside and out is built for the cold, reis half, thats why he hasn’t dies yet because the ice stops it from getting to far, he only got the ice quirk to use because he was close to death and that coldness in his body wasn’t enough to help

I honestly wondered if Dabi could have ice too. Since I believe all their siblings had the ability to awaken Fire and Ice quirks. I thought it would just be cold/freezing temps though (kinda similar to Todoroki’s half cold), due to Dabi relying too much on his cremation/fire quirk. (Since I believe Todorki’s half hot/fire quirk was weakened due to him continuously using half cold/his ice quirk.)

When I saw the ice on Dabi I was immediately waiting for Plot Armour to respond to this and after watching your videos for almost 2 years!!!!! Dang I remember exactly watching that video. At first I doubt it but now that it's confirmed, my body jumped and I was like 'holy shit, they were right!!' But my brain thought it was Rei that made that Ice on Dabi's chest to cool him down. I didn't read the Manga right I suppose. But I'm still waiting for the final act to this part of the Todoroki family. As a fan of Dabi (not simping lol) I kinda hope he could reconcile with his parents one last time before the final curtain closes on him. I know it's a fat chance he'll make it, or even Endeavor. But something still hits the back of my head and says something else is there. Like waaaay back to how Touya woke out of his 3 year coma from sheer death. I think I heard that they said he was a possible Noumu (I think it was a theory or not. dont remember) and of course we knew he was AFOs first choice instead of Shigaraki but...I dunno it feels like something about Dabi's body biology from being treated by the doctor would come into play. Unless it is. I dunno. I'm rambling nonsense. But I kinda predict that this isn't gonna end well. but Horikoshi knows how to steer the audience into a wave of excitement and anxiety. I mean. We STILL haven't gotten anything from Bakugou's current state. And with Dabi ready to detonate, jeez, I can already feel myself tearing up if that happens. (*season 4 ep 13 song flowing back*)

XD I can’t believe I let go of Dabi having ice last chapter when I thought it was confirmed thermal energy was why he was glowing. I’m REALLY excited to see a full family confrontation which is what I’ve REALLY been waiting to see. The emotional damage that occurred in this chapter was IMMEDIATE. Because Natsuo and Shoto didn’t even exist to surpass All-Might, but to show Touya how not to burn himself in the bluntest way possible after literally all else failed. (Who knew lack of empathy and emotion leads to poor communication.) And it only changed to surpassing All-Might for Shoto AFTER Touya died. (The full focus rather.) We’ll see how this plays out. And I was REALLY freaked out that Geten is a distant relative of Rei in the exact same familial structure as the Fey family from Phoenix Wright. I know multiple people suspected, but I definitely was not one of them. This is the nuance that I just LOVE to see in MHA. We definitely appear to be closing in on the end of the Todoroki family story. Touya will either die happy, comforted, and loved at the end, or he’ll survive (because he’s lasted this long my goodness.) and the family will spare no expense trying to keep him alive and perform a true miracle of being a complete family healthier than ever despite EVERYTHING. I hope it’s the latter because the family has endured so much as is. Even though it could fall the other way with the ultimate tragedies still to come.

I swear the entire todoroki family has given me a range of emotions based on who we're talking about. Shoto was too cold in the beginning, but we finally understand more beyond just the back story, Rei is a traumatized woman who I wanted to just get better, natsu is the one kid with a chip on his shoulder but with good reason who I wanted to see how things would progress for him emotionally, fuyumi Is the girl trying to keep a family together and it breaks my heart when things aren't going too smoothly, Enji Is the fire superhero that I used to enjoy watching as a kid changed into something I was not expecting which I then found to be annoyed with, but then I decided to keep an eye on him as he started to change. And then we have Dabi/touya. The crazy thing is even knowing everything I do, I still cannot hate him completely since a lot of this was because of a family issue that originated from endeavor. That being said, he has still done more than enough on his own to show his true colors despite anything that was said before.

It just continues to pile on Endeavor and how shortsighted he really was with his family. Still, it does feel like we are about at an end here with them and it is beginning to feel like Shoto might be without parents soon (although given the circumstances of his upbringing, it could be argued either way as a good or bad thing). Still, it is a nice twist to show that there was a reason why Dabi was able to output the flames that he could and show how he would have indeed been a worthy successor. But now… well, I guess we’ll be seeing that explosion here soon enough.

I must say that since they raised the Himura clan for convenience, the majority and be honest, we are being unhappy, because hopefully the author does not use it end abi to save it, the results would be disastrous, disgusting; Hopefully it's only for shooting, and we know that they will stop the explosion, but gentlemen, the future of the series depends on this and I speak for everyone that the best final apra dabi is to die even if it is by forced evangelization, rest in peace and die disintegrating.

Am I the only one who is still stuck on the Geten bit? Like the first time I saw him, I predicted that he's related to Rei in a way! And the fact that Dabi has ice is just perfect. But it's kind of sad to think that it would end this way for a family that gone through nothing but negativities. And the fact that it was Touya that made Enji realize his wrongs is a perfect thing to write, because it draws a paralell of Enji never looking at Touya as a good child, but Touya had always looked at him as Endevour, as his top priority to destroy. Literally can't wait to see this being animated! This will be a spectical!! 🔥

It’s nice to see that the Todorokis are confronting this situation head on. It’s something I wanted to see from Enji for a while but it unfortunately never really happened. I’m still holding out hope that his character can still be salvaged. Bad character arc aside, it can still end on a high note. Regardless, it’s just super cool to finally see the family like this and I’m sure Shoto isn’t too far behind. I’m hoping that Natsu in particular is given a moment with Toya and I’m super interested to see where this goes.

Yeah... we have yet to see any sort of notice for the health of Bakugo as of yet. Hopefully they broach the subject. I would like to see him alive and even more powerful then before having an entire other person boosting both the strength of his body and bone, but of his quirk too. Maybe a way to naturally collect more and more nitroglycerin in confined area instead of having to use tech for that.

I'm kinda still latching on to that hope that Dabi will revert and save his family, if only for the sake of Natsu sense they where so close. Dabi reminds me of Red Hood (Jason Todd from the DC Universe) if you dont know who that is he was the 2nd robin and was killed on the job, when brought back to life he was a villain but is now a sort of Anti-Hero and on mutual terms with Gothams Vigilantes. the more I think about it the more similarity's I see between the two

If all three of them don’t die the other outcome I can see happening is that they will try to get eri to rewind dabi body back to normal but accidentally rewind him back to a baby or a kid as a way for them to start over.

That would be... I dont know. It could give Dabi the death he so thoroughly deserves, while saving Toya. It could also give Endeavor and Rie a chance to start over with this new child. The only problem I could see with this is the fact that they would have to push Dabi to death for him to use his Ice as this is not an Awakening. His base line Ice is just too weak so it only manifests when his Base Line has been boosted to such an extent that he is a Thermo-Nuke.

We’re going to have to wait for that cause there’s other ongoing fights out there on Final War but after they show Shoto’s reaction about All For One is going after Deku they should show all Class 1-A reactions about this too while busy their own battles in every each chapters since the news is spreading and here’s the list in order 1. Endeavor and Rei trying to save Dabi and Shoto will arrive with Iida to stop Dabi too within 4 chapters 2. Uraraka and Tsuyu continues their fight against Toga and struggling with her Twice’s doubles within 3 chapters 3. Eraser Head and Present Mic fight against Kurogiri to bring back Oboro again and maybe Dr Garaki will return with his Exo Suit for his revenge within 3 chapters 4. Fat Gum and Aoyama continues to fight against Kunieda within 2 chapters 5. Sero, Ojiro, Sato and several Class 1-B fight against Gashly within 2 chapters 6. Gunhead, Death Arms, Tetsutetsu and Kendo captures All For One’s spies and Skeptic is captured by Hound Dog, Ms Joke, Shindo and Nakagame within 2 chapters 7. All Might fights All For One for his Final Round and tries to stop him from going after Deku and Shigaraki within 3 chapters 8. Deku continues his final fight against Shigaraki and Bakugo returns from Edgeshot saving his life from dying and Class 1-A and Heroes all arrive to UA after their battles to watch and root for Deku to take down Shigaraki just like back at Kamino incident (All Might vs All For One) within 8 chapters
