Dabo Sweeney looks like he’s over his head when he has to play P5 teams outside of the ACC. Clemson looks over their head. Trying trick gimmick plays against SC, and Tenn (fake punt early in the game). It’s like he’s not taking these games seriously and that are getting embarrassed. Notre Dame ran them out the stadium. This bowl game was a microcosm. Dabo looks scared and lost out there, and the team has no guidance. Meanwhile, look at the quite confidence and composure of FSU’s head coach. FSU beat LSU, Florida, and now Oklahoma. They played hard and took the teams seriously. No gimmicks. The games were tough but their coach had the composure and leadership to lead those men. They were much more impressive when they played real competition outside of the weak ACC than Clemson. Dabo needs to do some soul searching

Then why didn't FSU beat Clemson at home this year? Interesting arguement you posed, but there is a reason DJ isn't driving the bus. Did Dabo wait too long to make that changee or was Cade still a work in process at that stage? @80sports20 Жыл бұрын
@@lenc4078 FSU had a skid early on in the season. Credit to Clemson for beating them, but once FSU got going after a rocky start, they were red hot and didn't get embarrassed on the national stage losing to P5 teams outside the ACC like Clemson. They knocked off LSU, Florida, and Oklahoma. Clemson got blown out by a struggling Notre Dame, and lost to 2 solid but not great SEC teams back to back. Shows that Clemson benefits greatly from a weak ACC schedule and would not be a 10 win team in the SEC or Big Ten (maybe not in the Big 12 or Pac 12 either).

@Black_Caucus Жыл бұрын
This one falls on the coaching staff. 6 trips to the red zone and 3 fucking points isn't on the running back, QB, or even the field goal kicker who missed 3 out of nowhere. Also, I love being aggressive, but that fake field goal at the very start of the game seemed a bit early. TN defense very obviously saw it coming, even if the rest of us at home didn't. If the fake field goal succeeded, obviously we wouldn't be trash talking it, we would be praising it, so I don't think that was too big of a deal. The fake wasn't the defining part of the game. Like someone on Twitter said: Clemson was able to drive down the field on Tennessee all night, the play-calling was fantastic- and then EVERY single time they got to the red zone, OC Streeter pulled out a Denny's menu and starting calling plays off that. It's that simple. Our OC and DC should be coaching pee wee flag football, not D1 football at Clemson. Dabo has to take some responsibility for taking the 'good ole' boy' southern politics approach and 'hiring within' to give his close buddies a big pay-raise. We could have gotten ANYONE in the country, and he settled for two unqualified guys that are HOLDING BACK Clemson from doing their best. And the worst part is that whenever Streeter is [rightfully] questioned, he throws a tantrum. I will say, Goodwin is far better of a coordinator, but that's mostly because of his players and the fact he's got six first rounder guys. Without all that talent, Goodwin would be just as bad as Streeter I think. OC Streeter has to go though man, whether it's completely off the team or whether he's demoted to something else. We aren't making it to the playoffs with that kind of play-calling. It's that simple. And Dabo fucking knows it. He's a smart guy.

@gr5382 Tennessee is known for having a bad defense. I do agree the defense didn't do great, but that was actually against the top offense in the nation. Our offense was playing against a bad defense, and still did horribly. Their defensive line was getting pressures and sacks on Klubnik within 2 - 3 seconds on nearly every play, and they couldn't block at all for Shipley or Mafah. The announcers were also talking about how horribly the O line was playing for pretty much the entire game.

Yup. They rack up 10/11 wins and the when they play mid-tier P5 teams from other conferences, they can’t win. In addition to Clemson getting embarrassed once again, 23rd ranked NC State lost to an unranked UMD, UNC lost to Oregon, Syracuse lost to Minnesota. A highly ranked Wake barely beat a low tier Mizzou. FSU is the only ACC team that has looked good out of conference.

Frustrating game to watch for fans of both teams...Clemson leaving like 12 points or more off the board with missed field goals and opportunities. Tennessee playing some kind of super stretch bend don't break defensive zone was PO'ing the heck out of me. Give up nearly 500 yards and out there 100 plays! Clemson has a QB for the future though.

Clemson fan since 1971 I have been through the hards times as well as the good time I feel like Cade came out a winner in this one the experience he gained out of this game will be monumental come spring next year to perform the way he played as a first time starter against a four year QB, 99% of the 131 FBS teams would be doing back flips to have the record Clemson had in 2022, if these games were easy there would be 350 FBS teams, just remember guys "what don't kill you will only make you stronger" Clemson Nation Forever, Go Tigers...

Fan since 78. Graduated in 88. I'm with you 100%. Wish these bandwagon fans would go elsewhere. Hate we lost. Had our chances. Especially in the 1st half. But credit Tennessee. They made the plays on both sides of the ball needed to win. They were the better team last night. Clemson will be fine.

Cade showed TONS of incredible flashes, especially regarding his speed as a runner. He's far faster and quicker than Watson and Lawrence were. That said, he also showed TONS of horrible stupid mistakes. He has an incredible ceiling, but also demonstrated a very low floor as well.

Brotherhood only matters so much when you aren't good. I'm sure Georgia Tech has brotherhood, but they suck. We need to have A LOT changed about this team, starting with everything that has to do with the O line, from the coaches to the players. Never seen this team play at such a low level, but hey, at least they have brotherhood.

Dabo was out coached. He doesn’t use the transfer portal. He said he’d retire and stop coaching if NIL came about….this is something today’s kid going to college can find and hear, thus it’ll only become more difficult to recruit. No more Venables. Next year Clemson will not be the best team in the ACC. Their reign is coming to an end. Dabo was the reason the program achieved greatness and he’s going to be the reason it’s going to head back to mediocrity.
@CUtigerz97 Жыл бұрын
We recruit kids and have top 10 classes every year. We don't need the portal like 99.9% of the teams. On rate occasions would it work. Who wants a disgruntled kids from another team who is mad he didn't get to play enough? Tried for o-line guys missed b4. Obviously what we have is better than whats available.
@80sports20 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. He looks to be over his head when he’s playing teams on the big stage outside of the ACC. FSU has been the most impressive ACC team based on their non-conference wins. I think they will be the ACC’s best going forward
@michaelcarroll8570 Жыл бұрын
What’s a top ten class worth of players are overrated (DJ) or just transfer out after thier freshman or sophomore years? The big problem is Dabo saying things in the past and present that are not going to speak well for future classes and transfer portal kids. When FSU becomes the best team in the ACC next year it’ll not be from top 10 recruiting classes. It’ll be because of the transfer portal. FSU had top 10 classes and became irrelevant. Miami always has top recruiting classes. Tomorrow is different than today and yesterday is different from the day before. The whole thing is evolving and Dabo seems reluctant on going toward the change. I don’t see that ending well. @Gotigers
