I couldn't believe that Steaua was in the second division of Romanian football so I did some research. So, the original Steaua Bucaresti was founded by the Romanian Ministry of National Defence and this "original" Steaua won the UCL. After the fall of communism in Romania, Steaua was taken over by a businessman in 2003, and from 2011 it has been in an ongoing dispute with the Ministry of National Defence over the use of Steaua's name, logo and honours, which led to the businessman changing the clubs name to FC FCSB in 2017, and the formation of another Steaua București by the ministry in the same year. The Romanian courts recognise the new Steaua București as the successor of the original club, while the Romanian Professional League and UEFA recognise FCSB. I'm a Madrid fan from Madrid, 4 generation Madridista here. My great grandmother celebrated our first league title 90 something years ago when she was a little kid, I didn't get to spend much time with her but I remember her telling me stories about it lmao. Also to correct a few things, we won one last European cup after our first 5 in 1966. So in 1998 when we finally won it again it had been exactly 32 years. Funnily enough, my dad (born in 1968) spent over 30 years of his life not seeing Madrid win a single ucl/European cup. Kind of insane to think about. Also, while Florentino has brought us a lot of success no doubt, the 98 and even 2000 ucls that we won were without him as president. So he didn't revive our football glory, more so our financial glory since when he came in our club was close to bankruptcy.

1989 here. First time I saw Ronaldo, and I think most people as well, was during the 2004 Euros, when this cocky kid with the ugly ass ear studs (bling was allowed on the pitch back then) was flying on the wing for a very strong Portugal, which then got overconfident and lost to fkng Greece in the final at their home turf. Dude was obviously a generational talent, but rubbed me the wrong way with his attitude, and made himself a name both with his game and his ego. Messi on the other hand was kind of a different story, typical La Masia product that gets some minutes here and there but doesn´t really shine next to the likes of Ronaldinho in his prime. First match I really paid attention to him was during WC 2006, on which he made the team but was benched most of the time... all but for the match against Bosnia, that he single handedly destroyed, 5-2 I think. Still, the debate didn´t really start until Ronaldo joined Madrid, and got REALLY heated when Mourinho came the next summer. I was born 1993, that is what basically the beginning of it (kind of like Haaland and Mbappe), they started comparing goals and the build up was there. CR7 then went to Real Madrid that sent the rivalry into overdrive, the rest is history.
