I’ve only ever seen one dace in a lake not sure how it got there but they are stunning fish

Its very common aquacultured fish in China...The small ones are canned with black bean and ubiquitous in all stores even in US and European Asian supermarkets.

I managed one of a 1lb when I was a boy, it's a very special fish and the first species I ever caught when I was just 9 years old.

Here in California there is such a fish as a bottle nosed dace they look just like a two inch dolphin with a black line down the the lateral line complete with the bottle nose like a dolphin, never have I watched a documentary about the dying or dead population of native fish or insects that were here in California back in 1970's like 10 inch long preying mantis and the same for grasshoppers or earth babies that scream at you when they get injured when people move into a new home that was built in their habitat, but then this is an ag community and these things must be kept on the QT, so no one is aware of the ecological destruction that has already happened here.
