Doxies are such characters. They know how to grab your heart and tangle it around their little paws, especially when they want their way. They're expert little con artists. My Wellington Casanova ("Welly") was a master manipulator and we loved him more for it. It was never a dull moment with him around. He knew how to get us to do what he wanted. He knew how to play us and he was a heart thief. My Mom & I miss him and love him every day. Not a day goes by that we don't think about him. RIP "Babycakes".

one day I was really mad at my doxie because he bites me when I took him eating the trash outside our house. 3 days after that he really tried hard to make a comeback, starring at me, crying, making gesture so I would cuddle him, and at the end he won and I feel asleep with a doxie in my arms. It was 20 years ago and I still remember that day. I miss him so much nowadays.

I never thought of getting a Doxie until one night in Fresno in 1997. I had a Chow and went to Target to buy rawhide chews. And what should I find in my parking space but a little, jet-black Dachshund mix puppy! Took her right home and my girl Chow looked at her then me with a love expression. No one claimed her from the ads & postings we broadcasted. Gracie was my lil dawg for 17 years. My enthusiastic, brave, playful, energetic love bug.

I miss my Barney who I haven’t seen for 3 months but I can’t wait to get him back. Will Barney remember me? I would never forget him everyday I pray that I find an apt so we both can adjust to our new home. People say don’t get him before because it’s may be confusing for him. I have a passion for them. I had one n loved her but she was ,6 n used to running outside all she wanted. My neighbors didn't like it n I have alot of traffic. Fast traffic m I was trying to keep her in the house n she would body slam the door. I never seen anything like it. It took me months to give her up but she is on a farm w a bunch of doxie's n riding around on a gulf cart. I cried for months.

Our Bassett hound used to cry for attention all the time. parents insisted the dog stay in the wash room, poor guy… we used to let him out, and he’d come hang out with us in the living room. I could not grasp the idea of having a pet that was so aware and so people-oriented, and essentially exile it to a different room. It was worth getting in trouble to let him hang out with us. Every pet I’ve had since is with us whenever they want to be.
