This is exactly what the EV market needs - pressure from the bottom. Hopefully more manufacturers will start producing electric econoboxes, and hopefully some of them will make it to Canada.

Hardly.. These types of EVs do not sell well in North America, there have already been economy EVs either new or on the used market that aren't selling: Fiat 500e, Smart EV, Chevy Spark, VW eGolf, B Class EV, Chevy Bolt, BMW i3, Electric Mini, Nissan Leaf. Many of these cars can be had for $10k with low miles.

While having huge batteries is always a nice possibility. Considering the cost factor and respective weight variation. From a basic commuter needs it make a lot less sense! Having an efficient powertrain and a light weight setup. In the case of this Dacia Spring seems to work surprisingly well! It's worth a lot, that ALL the competition is tipping the scale usually above 1.5 ton weight range! While this no frills and efficient Dacia. Does not even reach 1 ton! Let's be honest no one need an engineering degree to be able to understand. That half a ton is a damn lot of weight to drag back and forth on a daily basis! A reasonable car that simply makes sense! Definitely a breath of fresh air for the EV market. Ladies and gentlemen I believe we're looking at a best seller! ;-)

It is a great city car and you can also make some short country trips with it. Has a nice boot and actually a lot of creature comforts- all round electric windows, AC, infotainment screen, etc. What more do you need? Impressive idea from Dacia. Do you think this is a good car for a person who does 80km / day commute? 40 to work and 40 from work, then very small trips on the weekends and perhaps 1 big trip per year with a 2-3 hour charging stop or 2. what is your opinion ?
@crpth1
@crpth1 3 жыл бұрын
I guess a vehicle like this would fit the bill perfectly! As you probably guessed already. The commuting part and shorter trips is what this car is all about! With the fast charging option longer trips should be at least identical to other normal EV's. Max. speed on the 125km/h range might be a slight downturn. But surely not a deal breaker. After all 95% of the time we drive below that speed! On the other hand it's worth mention that a huge part of the competition. Deliver incredibly similar range results! What might be a big surprise to many. After all we can't forget this car as less power, but most important has a lot LESS weight! After all the entire competition drag back and forth >HALF a TON more, than this light Dacia! ;-)

Driving from A to B has barely changed in years. Speed limits are the same, road construction is the same, driving speeds have probably stabilised outside the cities and reduced within the cities, it has some of the usual things like sat nav, rear camera, and electric windows. It follows the recent theme of a rugged-looking veneer of cuv/suv. The batteries are probably better than first generation leaf in both construction and longevity. I think the thing that dates it the most is having only 30kw fast charger. As someone who entirely charges my 24kWh Nissan ENV at home with a 3.3kw charger I do see that it has to have it but to future proof the vehicle it would have been a statement to offer 50 or even a slight improvement. In my eyes that would make it clear that it is a Gen2+ car not a Gen1 vehicle. To me the charging speed is as much about the message to the consumer rather than the day-to-day need.
@mamadouaziza2536
@mamadouaziza2536 3 жыл бұрын
Plus the battery is air cooled, which mean the battery will degrade quicker especially if one were to option the 30kw charger/CCS. The heat will kill the battery. Terrible horse power, what if you need to get on the motorway/freeway? All modern cars these day have a navigation system and a backing camera, the question is how good is the nav system and how good is the resolution in the camera? I would just recommend buying a good used EV over this junk.
