Back in the 1970's before brands like Toyota and Honda took the world by storm, people in the West would mock Japanese products. People get better at what they do over time, and its certainly no different here. Also, you're comparing a car that was already widely available last year to one that hasn't even been fully released, bud. NIO, like every other brand, has concept cars too.

I'm in Shanghai and I just went on a test drive for the NIO. Love this car, the features are insane and the interior is way more complete than a Tesla. Hope to get the ET7 when it comes out

@@ligametis Hmm, idk about that. For the pebbled leather, i definitely agree. I've always hated pebbled leather because it felt cheap af. But for the smooth (nappa?) leather, it felt way better than a BMW. I was in 2 different nio stores around Shanghai and sat in all of them, only the smooth leather felt high quality. I was on the test drive for the EC6 and it was honestly amazing. I'd definitely put my money on getting one in the future. And this is coming from someone who has spent a lot of time in Infinitis/Benz's/Audis/BMWs/Lexus/Acuras

But I get that for some it might be difficult to accept that brands with hundred years of experience build more polished product. Even Tesla has the same flaws because it is still a new and company, toddler (even though massive) in the industry.

Imagine the huge foreign inflow in $bils into EV tie ups with local EV makers. It has created more digital industries down stream. The Tesla sales turnover is still high and what matters is for Tesla to inspire 500 more EV local makers to meet China huge consumers' demands esp with cheaper pricing. All others classic brands car globally will also eventually complete their make overs into EV otherwise their tie ups in China will exports the EVs to meet their respective markets demands. Its good common sense to own and drive an Electric car.

Also beside EVs, dont miss out on Tesla solar roof too and not surprise to find China solar roof systems already in the market. Anyway, its a right choice to go for EV. No more expensive car gas and repair bills!

Good review, practically though most cars have 1-2 adults most of the time and usually kids in rear seats. So it makes sense floor space is designed that way giving room for battery underneath.

The battery swapping is a cool idea; but the cost to build stations everywhere and to have a full inventory of batteries fully charged is insanely expensive. I could see this as an option for long distance travel. More range, faster charging times and convenient charging stations will be the key.
