Check out the DaCinka KZbin channel, lot's more infos on the sinkers and the man who came up with the design. Quite an interesting story: www.youtube.com/@DaCinka

Thank you for the video and product awareness. I understand the design aspect of "floating" the sinker upon retrieval, especially on rocky bottom but not many areas around the world have rocky bottom, in fact, most are sandy. We use the streamline cocktail bait made up and attached it close to the sinker with a simple clip that is able to slide to release the bait. In strong current, we change out the streamline sinker to a pyramid or simple home-made tubular sinker that is very good for rocky bottom.

Cheers for the comment. Yeah the surface retrieval is very good when you fish with a drone and have your baits out a long distance. It makes retrieval much easier - less resistance. Also when you fish on a beach with a steep drop off or current channels, often the sinker can get stuck on the lip on retrieval and this wont happen with the Dacinka.

The tape was still wrapped around the sinker when you reeled the line in (17:21). Wont catch much if the tape dosnt release as described, so the hook can free flow....

yeah, I reeled it in pretty quickly just to demonstrate how the sinker skims along the surface. It takes a few minutes until the tape releases. First time I used it I had problems because I wrapped the tape around twice and it did not come off. I thought it would disintegrate in the water completely. But if it only slightly overlaps then it comes off pretty quick and seems to work as expected.

That’s the curious part might have used to much I’ve been using them for years both that design and the original aluminium lead one I’ve never had the paper come back ever

@fishingreminder I know that sinker design as a "breakaway sinker". Great video and I'll be looking into these further. Even better than the video is the fact they are a local company. Kiwi made is the way forward. Cheers and tight lines.

yeah breakaway sinker is the correct term, haha. I always wrongly call them sand or grapnel sinkers. Cheers

Can you imagine if most fishermen started using them.....im guessing they aint biodegradable
@Fishingreminder8 күн бұрын
Well, they’re specifically designed for surfcasting, where the chances of snagging are pretty low-and even lower because they float up to the surface on retrieve. Plus, their design supposedly makes them more likely to wash back onto shore over time. The biggest risk of losing one would probably be if a shark bites through your mainline! I had my doubts at first because of the plastic enclosure, but when you compare them to all the stickbaits, hard-body lures, soft plastics, and fishing line we lose in the sea, these seem a lot more sustainable and durable. Especially if the claim is true that they wash back to shore! And let’s not forget-lead sinkers are terrible for the environment, and lots of them get lost out there. If DaCinka sinkers really do reduce snagging and loss, they might actually be a better option overall.

Furthermore, lead is not biodegradable. It remains in soil, atmosphere, and water inducing multiple negative impacts on marine invertebrates (key species in trophic chain) disturbing ecological ecosystems so just saying you saying the a plastic one bad yey leads kinda worse

Don`t like them myself. Have tried a mates and I can cast easily further with a pulley swivel rig system. More aerodynamic.
@1967scooter5 күн бұрын
Sorry I use a pulley swivel with a breakaway IMP ( It holds the hook against the backbone line while casting, releases the hook upon hitting the water)

It’s dacinka not dazinka and it was designed by a fella in the Thames in the coramandel peninsula not in Auckland
@Fishingreminder6 күн бұрын
Where do you see dazinka with a z? The company is now based in Auckland, yes I'm aware it was designed by Dave (Cap. Hook) in Coromandel. Actually a very interesting story behind it all.
