2:12 "BIRD IS HUNGRY!" Shoot. That was terrifying to hear as a kid.

There is something severely unsettling about old school VR and I can’t put my finger on what it is.

I played the original version of this when I was a kid. I was at a computer trade show and it was £5 for like 3 minutes of not knowing what the hell you're doing.

Not gonna lie, this port is about the same. Especially when you find the easter egg levels, fucking wacky.

Perfect description. I felt so lost and incapable playing this game lol.

I was 6 when this came out, it was always a vague shadow in the back of my mind, I could only recall walking through a mall & seeing this setup at a kiosk with a pterodactyl involved

Played this at Crystal Palace in Moncton NB as a kid on the actual VR unit they had setup there. No one was on it that night so we got an extended amount of time to play the game. Brings back so many memories and i can't believe this is a remake cuz it looks pretty close to what i remember.

I saw this somewhere was a kid and never wanted to try anything so badly. Of course never got to, but it makes me appreciate where VR is now.

Good time to remind you that this itself is a recreation for oculus rift on PC. so you can infact still try it! Also. I have talked to the current owner of Virtuality, and they have revealed to me that they are actually natively porting every single arcade game made for the system to PC and the Meta Quest as well! So be on the look out for that :)

Had to stand up version at the place I worked at back in the early 90s called time out on the court they had dactyl nightmare stand-up machines and they had four sit-down machines that were different other things but they were all pretty cool

After my game session I put off the VR goggles realizing I was completely wrapped in wires and being surrounded by ~20 giggling people. Embarrasing as a teen, looking back as an adult it was a great expirience.

No offense - but this game is playing at a much higher framerate than the Amiga hardware was putting out. I think it was chugging around 20 fps - tops.
@rizzo-films3 жыл бұрын
Thankfully. Those lower VR framerates made motion sickness more prominent. But it would be cool to have a "retro frame limiter" or something if you want the throwback experience.

I'm really interested in all the games that came out for the arcade system... Sorta a new hobby I've been getting into, although its more of just research, and maybe... some creations...

@@NERDmNERDf I've also wanted to dabble in early VR, either using a newer headset or using the original VFX-1 headset for PC. GZDoom already has a VR version, so I'm good there.

appreciated! I'm actually following up on a thread and potential setup emulating these Amiga based Virtuality games. No solid development has yet begun, but I'm primed to beta test if someone takes up the task. eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=1341462
