From ages 0-18 we are conditioned to follow our mothers advice "Mommy knows best" As we get older we are constantly bombarded every which way into believing "Happy Wife=Happy Life, even when your wife is wrong she is right" So I bet dollars to donuts that OP's father is a somewhat decent person but he sucks at picking women.
