The sweetest thing about this is that he wanted to call Danielle to let her know he was ok. He really cares for her and he seems to forget her the least. Everyone always gives Danielle crap but Ed would not think highly of her if she was a bad person or treated him bad.

Danielle is her own person with her own unique way of expressing herself, including with grandpa. Naysayers should really just STOP. It's working for all of them. When my mom had Alzheimer's, her 4 adult kids all communicated with her differently, as wexalways had even before she was ill. No one correct way. The fact that Ed didn't want to worry her says it all to me.(No shade meant on Dan, Mark or the other adults in Ed's universe. Their unique ways work for them, too.)

We also should consider that Danielle may also during her lifetime become responsible for her own 2 parents, a mother in law, a husband, perhaps siblings, other relatives. I think she is very patient to help care for her father in law, and share her house with him. No one knows how this wears on one's patience, until they've been a dementia caregiver 24/7 for a few years.
