Cars were made to hold first longer back then. My mom had a 71 chevelle ss i used to sit in the middle and shift gears for her. She always says how fast my car shifts scares her. Plus..no matter how fast our cars are...they feel like toys to someone who had a heavy car like our parents did.

I wish my parents were fun. When I drove them around New Zealand in 2002, my Dad kept asking what the speed limit was whenever I touched 60mph in case we got fined but there was only one fixed speed camera in the whole country! The mobile ones were very rare and obvious but his constant back seat driving ruined a potentially great holiday. As soon as we arrived in Auckland he wanted to go home as the tour operator hadn't included vouchers for the 10 mile taxi ride to the first hotel where we hired the Camry he thought would get us locked up. He even reminded me three times that I left a cheap, throw away $10 umbrella in the hire car like it was a winning lottery ticket. The incredible thing is, he's an amateur astronomer yet totally lacks perspective and is obsessed with money and avoiding spending it, as "I can't see what else there is to worry about". He's 76 ffs!
